“We couldn't be happier with having our dog, Chance, stay with Gabby. She sent me daily updates of how he was doing and was really understanding and accommodating to his needs and his anxiety/timidness during the first few days of his stay. I could tell by the pictures that he defintiely enjoyed his time there. We would love to keep using Gabby for any future trips we go on. We are more than pleased with her!”

“Marybeth & Dwight kept us up to date with what was going on with our pooch Coffee throughout our trip with texts and pictures. They also offered Facetime in case we wanted to see how he was doing. We picked him up happy and tired from all the play time.”

“Toni and family watched our 1 yr old Staffy, Rocky while we went away on vacay for about 5 days. We got regular pics and updates on how he was doing which helped with peace of mind. Rocky was on a special diet and meds due to tummy issues a couple of weeks prior and Toni was very accommodating. She also kept Rocky separate from her dogs due to him not being used to having to share space with other pups which I appreciated. Rocky seems to have been well taken care of and we would definitely use Toni's services in the future if need be.”

“Apryl was so kinda to help us out in a very last minute pinch! She was very responsive and easy to communicate with! She had a great yard and home set-up for overnight doggy guests and our pup loved the one-on-one attention she got from Apryl. When it was time to pick our pup up she didn’t want to leave! We would definitely book Apryl again!”

“I was very impressed with Jinay's responsiveness and attentiveness. She understood that I didn't want to constantly ask for updates about my baby because I was on vacation but wanted the peace of mind that she was ok, so she reassured me every day with voluntary quick message updates and even pictures. My sweet girl has a disability, and Jinay gave me peace of mind during our separation. Jinay was so sweet and caring, even hand-feeding my girl when she struggled to eat. She truly went above and beyond to ensure my baby was well taken care of. I am incredibly grateful for her exceptional care.”

“Ann is absolutely wonderful! She was willing to do a meet and greet beforehand, sent lots of pictures and updates, followed a lot of instructions, played with and walked our dog, was flexible about our dog's needs, and had a lot of patience when our dog barked at her husband because of his beard! And what a wonderful, huge yard to play in!! Thank you so much, Ann!!!”

“We love Cynthia! She is kind and gentle! You can see that she has a love for animals. We were very comfortable with her and we felt safe to leave Paris with her. We will definitely Use Cynthia again!”

About: I have 2.5 years of experience working as a veterinarian assistant for a family-owned and operated animal hospital. Aspects of my job include restraining, handling, medicating, feeding, grooming, bathing, and caring for any pets who may board with us at the hospital. I have comfortably handled dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, needs, and temperaments, and I am confident in my ability to care for dogs of all life stages. My schedule is extremely flexible and I am never away from home for more than four hours any day of the week, which means plenty of time for potty breaks, playtime, and feedings. I have a fully enclosed, insulated, temperature controlled, spacious gazebo on my property surrounded by a pet-proof fenced-in playpen. The inside is divided into four sections, so I can board up to four dogs no bigger than 40lbs at one time, and each pet will have his or her own space indoors for eating and sleeping. Outside, the pets will be able to interact and play, and they will always be supervised.
“You guys Do Not have enough stars to rate Kathryn, she and her husband took such good care of Bailey during the 18 days he stayed with them. When I came back from my vacations Kathryn cried when she said good bye to him. That was very sad but at the same time makes me realize the kind of person she is. I will never leave my dog with anybody else period. Actually I’m going on vacation again in February and I hope she will be available then. Kathryn has two wonderful dogs of her own and they took my dog as another brother and I don’t think he had time to remember he wasn’t in his home. Thanks again and 100% recommend Kathryn to take care of your furry ones.”
“Great experience with Kristen! My pup really liked her and her home. My dog is often anxious but she was very relaxed and happy when I came to pick her up after the stay! I really liked Kristen too—very nice person. Highly recommend!!”

“I’d give 100 stars if I could. I’d never used Rover.com before and we were in a last minute bind with our new puppy, scheduled to go on vacation, when our sitter fell through. Samantha is exactly who you want to care for your pet. She’s so knowledgeable, loving, and kind with a true passion for caring for animals. She was so great with communication, sending us updates, pics, and videos and following our pup’s routine. I’m so at ease to know we now have someone like Samantha in our life to help us with our guy! She was truly heaven sent. Highly recommend. Thank you Sam!”

“Carlos is such a wonderful dog sitter! He really cares about your pet while they are with him. We are returning clients and will absolutely continue to schedule with him. Thank you so much for taking such good care of Ruby!”

“John is amazing my Moses fit right in and I knew he was well taken care of . Not one time did I have to ask for pics or updates, John was on point with that. My Moses stayed with John over 2 weeks and I have booked him again. John gave meds to Moses ear and eyes and did great. I highly recommend John as he will give your pet plenty of attention and peace of mind!!!”

“Our experience with Natalia was amazing! She provided many updates and pictures to us which helped us so much, as this was our first time leaving our pup in someone else’s hands. We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing he was in the best care. Highly recommend Natalia and will be using her care again!”

“Having just moved to Long Island, my husband and I were in search of a reliable dog sitter for our dog, Kilo. We always had friends watch him in Miami, and were a bit nervous leaving Kilo with a stranger for 3 nights. Initially, we checked out some kennels in the area, and found them quite depressing. That led us to look on Rover, and Daniel's profile came up first. I reached out to Daniel to inquire about booking with him, and within minutes Daniel had responded and we set up a meet and greet for later that night. I stopped by with Kilo to see Daniel's set up/house. I could immediately tell that he was a dog person and was going to treat my dog as his own! I was nervous because Kilo can be a little territorial with other large males, but Daniel reassured me that everything would be fine. I dropped Kilo off later that week for his stay with Daniel and his family. Daniel sent pictures of Kilo playing outside and responded to any questions/concerns I had about Kilo during his stay. I felt totally confident that my dog was in good hands at his house. Daniel and his family will definitely be my dog people on the island! I absolutely recommend their services. I've already booked Kilo's next stay, and I also look forward to dropping Kilo off every once in a while for day care services just so he can run around and play with other dogs in a safe environment!”

Thanks to Patrick and Karyn for taking great care of Caspar. He was spoiled with long walks near the water, pup cups and doggie ice cream. What a treat. I am so happy to have found these wonderful sitters so close to home and will definitely be using them again. They are DOG PEOPLE through and through...I think Caspar may not have wanted to leave.

Marla was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Hachi. She cared for him for six days and treated him like one of her own. Her home is cozy, her yard is spacious, and Hachi felt completely comfortable from the moment he arrived. Marla is incredibly sweet, attentive, and clearly loves dogs. We’re very grateful for the love and care she gave Hachi and would happily book with her again.

I left my dog with Paul for four nights and he was fantastic! He lives in a quiet neighborhood, very peaceful with a great yard. I got plenty of updates and photos of my girl while I was away. She was clearly comfortable and at ease at his house, her tail was wagging from the moment I dropped her off until I picked her back up! He and his wife are very capable, clearly love animals, and take whatever precautions necessary to keep your pet safe and comfortable. Next time I go away I will be calling Paul back up for her to stay again! Absolutely recommend, your pet will be in great hands.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
