“Fantastic. My cat was very comfortable and happy with Julia as her drop in visitor. She provided excellent service, updates, pictures, and made sure my cat was well cared for while I was away. 10/10”

“Michelle was great with our 10 week old puppy. It was our first outing since getting our puppy and Michelle took great care of her. She went out of her way to keep us informed during her visit so that we would be at ease. I would recommend her to anyone looks for a caring and responsible dog sitter!!”

“Kimberly did an amazing job with our cat. In the past he has been shy around new people but he seemed to take to Kimberly immediately, the pictures shared made it look like he was treating her the same why he interacts with us, curling up next to her and requesting to be petted. We appreciated the constant communication on how he was doing giving us peace of mind and letting us enjoy our trip rather than spend it worrying about the cat.”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for about eight years and have had four of my own — a German Shepherd, a Boxer, a Havanese, and a Maltese-Yorkie mix. I’ve also helped care for my neighbors’, friends’, and family’s dogs when they needed it. I’m comfortable with both big and small breeds and love making sure each dog feels safe, loved, and well cared for while their owner is away. I’m currently attending college, so my schedule is flexible around my classes. I’m available all day Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, after 5 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and after 11 AM on Fridays. I can provide walks, playtime, feeding, and companionship I don’t offer pet sitting at my home as well as dog walking because I already have two dogs and three cats and don’t want to put any animals in a hectic environment. However, I’m happy to come to your home to care for your dogs or cats. I make sure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved in their own environment, following all instructions you provide.

About: As a lifelong animal lover, I provide dependable, compassionate care for pets as if they were my own. Whether you need pet sitting, drop-in visits, walks, or care in my home or yours, my goal is to ensure your pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I have over 30 years of experience in the medical field, which has given me a strong foundation in caregiving, attention to detail, and recognizing the needs of others—including our furry family members. In addition to general pet care, I have experience providing gentle pet massage for senior pets and those recovering from injuries. Our family includes a friendly Goldendoodle and a tabby cat, and we have a secure fenced yard where dogs can safely play and explore. Throughout my life, I have cared for a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, horses, and even a beloved pet duck who was part of my family for many years. I am comfortable caring for pets of all ages, from energetic puppies and kittens to senior pets requiring extra patience and attention. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your beloved companion, and I strive to provide the same love, care, and attention that they receive at home. Whether you’re at work, traveling, or simply need an extra helping hand, you can have peace of mind knowing your pets are in caring and capable hands. Special Care Please let me know in advance if your pet has any special needs, requires medication, has mobility challenges, or needs individualized care. I am happy to work with you to ensure your pet receives the attention and support they deserve. “Providing loving care, personalized attention, and peace of mind for you and your pets.” I am available for your pet's needs while you are at work or play. I am here to care for your furry loved ones, and put your mind at ease. Pet care is my passion and a priority. It’s what I do full time. I have a fenced yard for safety. I will care for your pets in my home or yours. We have a very friendly Golden doodle and a house cat. Life is good!
“Jordan took great care of Mona while I was away for several days. Mona can be sensitive to changes in routine, and Jordan was calm, patient, and very attentive in helping her feel comfortable. She was communicative, reliable, and made sure Mona’s routine stayed consistent, which gave me peace of mind while traveling. I appreciated how thoughtful she was in making sure Mona was well cared for and comfortable. Over the course of the visits, Mona became more relaxed and even playful, which really speaks to Jordan’s approach and attentiveness. Jordan is responsible, kind, and clearly cares about the animals she works with. I would absolutely recommend her and would gladly book with her again.”

“Thank you so much for taking such good care of our girls. They are so excited to see you each time you visit. Reagan shows off with her happy dance and Peaches does the same with her big tail wag. We can’t say enough about your professionalism and how well you care for our girls. They definitely love your company! Thanks again - especially with such short notice. We truly appreciate you!! ☺️☺️”

About: I have care for dogs and cats in the Port Jefferson community and surrounding areas since my teenage years. I try to be flexible to meet your needs and I have taken care of four legged friends big and small. Your special friend will be well take care of while you are away. I have varying hours during the summer so I can especially make things work if given times in advance. I am timely and available for whatever you may need. I am willing to travel. I am a clean and careful guest, and understand the sense of safety and security that comes with knowing your four legged friend is well taken care of in their own home. I am more than happy to drop in or stay over, whatever is more convenient to you! Let’s discuss what works best.

About: I’ve previously worked for another pet service where I took dogs on walks and did drop-in visits. I also have some experience with cats, but I have a 5-year old dog myself. I have experience taking care of elderly dogs as I dog sat for a family friend for a few months and stayed the night at their house once a week. I would take the dog for walks, spend time with him and give him any medication he needed. I love animals and it doesn’t feel like work to take care of them for me. I am a teacher, so I am free during school breaks and on weekends. When I am not working full-time at school, pet care will be my first priority. I will listen to any requests made by the pet owner for what they want me to do, such as letting them out in a fenced backyard or keeping them on a leash. I also have experience crate training my dog and find that can be a safe place for dogs too.

About: Animals have always been a big part of my life, and I’ve been helping care for other families’ pets since I was 10 years old. When you hire me, you can be confident that I will personally be the one caring for your pet(s). I do not outsource care and truly enjoy spending time with the animals in my care. I look forward to meeting you and giving your pet(s) the attention and care they deserve❤️🐶🐱🐢🐠🐭 Pet care fits naturally into my daily routines. I work as a childcare professional with a flexible rotating schedule. I typically work 3 shifts per week (8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, 12am-8am) and I receive my schedule two weeks in advance, allowing me to plan pet visits and walks easily for clients who book at least a week ahead. However, clients are always welcome to reach out for last-minute bookings- I/s happy to help when my schedule allows it😎🐶 I live in the middle of a quite cul-de-sac neighborhood. It is a safe serene street that would allow me to social your dog with the friendly neighbors and their pets as well. I live in a two story house with a fenced in backyard and a big front lawn that i play with my dogs in- Hopefully I can share the same fun with your pets too! There is very little traffic that comes through and cars always drive very slowly due to the high volume families with children and pets. I live with my wife, 7 year old son, and my two parents who have two dogs of their own. We are all life long pet owners and treat them the same as any person who lives here........who am i kidding, our pets are treated like royalty in this household and they know it!🤣🐶🐱🐰🐭❤️
“Asher took great care of my babies! He paid attention to every detail in my instructions (and there's a lot because my babies have allergies and special diets) I would book with him again and so should you :)”

About: Neighbors and friends have trusted me with their dogs and cats for years — from daily walks to extended boarding. I match your pet's energy, whether they need a calm companion or an adventure buddy. I am currently a medical student, and my schedule is very flexible. I can take care of pets in the afternoons and the entire weekend. Your pet's comfort and safety come first. I stick to your established routines so they barely notice you're gone — consistent feeding, potty breaks, and plenty of love. I'm attentive to behavioral cues and know when a pet needs calm reassurance vs. playtime.
“Melissa was amazing with our Stella! This was our first time using rover and Melissa made us feel comfortable and secure that Stella was in great hands! We will definitely be using Melissa again and can’t recommend her enough! :)”

About: I have pet sit other dogs prior but the one dog that sticks out is my sister’s black lab. Shakira was a black lab mutt with an auto immune disease. She needed twice daily medication and to be taken out side frequently. I work nights as a custodian for a school district ! So I’m available early to mid mornings for walks or house sitting over the weekends. As I have a cat, my number one priority for him is always making sure the doors are shut. He’s an indoor kitty and I ensure that it stays that way. Always guaranteed to have food and water and a clean litter box.
“Sarah Z The aka "dog whisper". I have never been away before and I have two protective yet talkative yet shy 11 month old German shepards, Sarah came over and met my girls and it was like a whole new experience yet training training session in one! She is kind compassionate and so amazing with animals. I felt so at ease leaving my kids with her when I went away, I would highly recommend her to anyone! Honestly this was my first time using this app but I will always use Sarah two thumbs up and a bunch of gold stars.”

About: I loved dogs all my life Ive had several dogs and cats before and I think you just have to know how their minds work so you can raise, train and live with them Im currently looking for a job so Im mainly free these days so my schedule is very flexible and i have a lot of free time I don't have any dogs at the moment that's why i want to work with animals and help in walking or training them for people
“Sharon watched my 2 boys for 2 weeks while I was out of the country and i could not have been happier with her dog-sitting services. She took such good care of them and kept me well informed about how they were doing. I have used other dog sitters over the years but she is the best!”

“Amanda was amazing with our dogs and bunny. Dogs were very comfortable with her and were very happy to see her each drop in . She was very attentive and detailed in each drop in and kept in touch throughout the whole week. I would highly recommend using her for any of your pets needs”

“Christine was fabulous. She was conscientious and took great care of our cat. She is the first cat sitter we’ve booked (of 2-3 Rover sitters) who has actually come at exactly the time we asked her, consistently. Beyond that, when our travel plans had to change because of airline problems, Christine kindly agreed to extend the booking - even though it was the holidays and I’m sure she had other obligations.”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
