We are return customers for the kind, considerate, trustworthy and patient caretakers that are Megan and Kirby - THANK YOU! Their abilities to follow instructions, be consistent and caring and even better, their efforts to actually try and "bond" with our cats - especially the skittish one - are SO very much appreciated and we're so comfortable with them taking care of our kitties when we're away! We plan to continue requesting their services again in the future, if they're willing and available! Thanks again!

About: I've taken care of dogs of every kind since I was 10. Neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me to check in with, feed and play with their pets. During the summer it was all I did. I’m currently unemployed so I want to have as much fun as I can with pets before I go back to school and work. Well I don’t care for pets in my home but eventually when I have my own space I would absolutely adore sharing my space with everyone’s pets.

About: I’ve always had dogs in my life! I adopted my first dog, Beth, in 2015 when she was just 14 weeks old, and I trained her myself. During the pandemic, I adopted my second dog, Buz, at 8 months old who had aggression and resource guarding issues. Because of them both, I am very watchful of dog behaviors and am not afraid of big barks! I know training basics and am comfortable with dogs of all ages and sizes! I am a teacher in SE DC, so during the school year, my availability is primarily evenings and weekends. During the summer, my availability is very open! I am very attentive and respectful of others homes, dogs, and instructions. Knowing that my own dogs take a minute to warm up to someone new, I will be sure to follow specific routines or guidance given! Your home will remain as it was when I enter!

Naomi was amazing again for our three girls and helped me out with a couple of asks around the house I had forgotten about before we left like plugging in our furbo and turning off our sprinkler. She’s phenomenal!

About: My partner and I work together to provide reliable and attentive house sitting and pet care throughout the DMV area. I currently work part-time as a concierge, which has strengthened my professionalism, attention to detail, and respect for building security and residents’ privacy. My partner is studying online to become an electrician, which gives him a flexible schedule and a strong sense of responsibility and problem-solving. We also have a cat of our own, so we understand the importance of routine, litter care, enrichment, and recognizing subtle changes in behavior. Caring for animals in their home requires patience and attentiveness, and we take that seriously. Together, we have experience caring for dogs and cats of various sizes, ages, and temperaments. Working as a team allows us to provide consistent supervision, maintain routines, and ensure pets feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away. We are comfortable with: • Small to large dogs • Senior pets • Multiple-pet households • Following detailed feeding and care schedules We prioritize clear communication, cleanliness, and maintaining a calm, secure environment at all times. Our goal is to provide dependable care so you can travel with peace of mind. Pet care fits naturally into our routine. I work some night concierge shifts, which gives me flexibility during the day to maintain feeding schedules, walks, and check-ins. Spending time outdoors with pets is a great balance after overnight work, and I enjoy being active with them. My partner studies in the evenings, so we are both structured and routine-oriented. Having pets in our care fits well with our schedule, as we prioritize consistency, fresh air, and daily activity. Because of our schedule flexibility, we are able to accommodate morning, afternoon, and evening care while ensuring pets receive attentive and reliable supervision. About: What sets me apart is my hands on experience raising two pit bulls from puppyhood into adulthood. I'm comfortable caring for dogs with different energy levels and I always make safety and positive interactions a priority. I'll make sure they feel comfortable, cared for, and loved while you're away. I currently work part time so I have plenty of time to hang out with your pets. My schedule is pretty open and can work during the week or weekends. When caring for pets in a client's home, I stick to their normal routine as closely as possible to help them feel comfortable and secure. I make sure they have fresh food and water, regular potty breaks or a clean litter box, exercise, playtime, and plenty of attention.

About: As a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience raising and training a Cocker Spaniel, a Pitbull Terrier, and a Rottweiler from puppyhood into their senior years, my goal is to provide patient and dependable care tailored to your pet's unique personality. Whether they need playtime, walks, cuddles, or just a calm place to stay, they will always feel safe, loved, and cozy while in my care. I currently work full-time in Alexandria, VA, but I work remotely on Mondays and Wednesdays. I do have open availability on weekends, and I am available to board throughout the weekend into Monday. My care is tailored to the individual needs of every animal. My apartment complex is incredibly pet-friendly with a large area right outside my unit for long walks and playtime. We also have a grooming station in case your fur baby needs a little TLC before going home. As an active young adult and someone familiar with the challenges of the puppy years - I am also available to walk dogs as frequently as needed. I also have no problem administering medication or patiently supporting elderly or special needs animals.

About: I’ve been caring for animals for over 6 years and have experience with both dogs and cats of various ages, sizes, and personalities. Over the years I’ve cared for multiple family dogs, including my own dog since 2019, my mom’s two dogs, and my husband’s dog. I also cared for my two cats and helped raise their three kittens from birth until they were rehomed. I’ve been an animal lover since my first dog at the age of 2. I’ve always been loving and playful with them and when they misbehaved i’d only cage them temporarily so they know what they did was wrong without popping the dog. My experience includes feeding, walking, playtime, administering basic care, maintaining routines, and providing companionship for pets ranging from young animals to seniors. I understand that every pet has unique needs, and I strive to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I’ll provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in good hands. Pet care is currently my primary focus, which allows me to provide flexible and reliable care for your pets. I’m available for drop-in visits, dog walking, feeding, playtime, potty breaks, medication reminders, and companionship throughout the day. I understand how important consistency is for pets, and I do my best to follow their normal routines to help them feel comfortable and stress-free. I’ll also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is happy and well cared for while you’re away. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are my top priorities. Before care begins, I take time to learn about your pet’s routine, personality, preferences, and any special instructions. During visits and walks, I remain attentive to their needs and surroundings, ensuring they receive proper care, exercise, fresh water, and plenty of affection. I respect both your pet and your home as if they were my own and believe in maintaining open communication through updates and photos. My goal is to create a positive, safe, and stress-free experience for both pets and their owners.

About: I grew up in a small village which gave me the opportunity to take care of all types of animals including horses, birds, dogs, and cats. I have had my dog Gucci for 11 years now ( he lives with my family overseas) and was taking care of 2 very adorable stray dogs Rex ,Angel ,and a cat named olive. Angel can’t see in one eye so he needed all the help he could get. After taking care of them for about a year I decided to find them their forever homes. Rex, olive ,and angel were adopted by two warm and loving homes. Before leaving them I made sure that they were given proper care and the attention they need. I’m a college student and I take some of my classes online. I spend most of my time at home studying. Taking care of a pet will fit right into my schedule. I have a big backyard that is fenced with space for dogs to run around. I don’t leave pets outside unattended. Inside the house I like dogs to be as comfortable as possible and to roam around freely.

About: I’ve taken care of pets personally since 2014 when I had my blue nose pitt! I love all animals and am excited to see what furry friends I make! I’m currently a junior in college, so I’m mostly available for breaks, holidays, and the summer! My availability is more flexible on weekends than weekdays and willing to watch and tend to your paw-some pet overnight in the home! I love having fun and making every furry friend feel comfortable and loved, from baths to letting out the zoomies! My favorite things to do are going on long walks, cuddles, and running around outside together!

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs since I was born. I love them. I’m also very patient when it comes to animals so senior dogs, small dogs, giant dogs, any special requirements are no issue for me. I’m currently working during the week and on some weekends but I’m available most Sunday’s for boarding and weekdays before 4 to go on walks or dog sit. I have a nice size backyard although it’s not fenced in, I normally walk dogs in my neighborhood whenever I’m dog sitting. I love giving dogs organic treats as long as I have permission from the owner. I love cuddling and I am always sure to put away any small items that can cause harm to any curious puppies !

Natalie is amazing and went above and beyond at very late notice to make my Dante happy and comfortable while I was away for work. She was flexible with a very rushed meet-and-greet and remained flexible throughout the stay, even as I added another sameday drop-in. She had great treats and toys for him and took tons of pictures. I know he loved the walks and getting outside. I’m very appreciative and grateful for her time and care! Will absolutely be booking again.

They were absolutely amazing. I just moved to the area from Texas and had to travel to Colorado for my niece’s birthday, but couldn’t bring my dog. My usual pet sitter is back in Texas, so I was unexpectedly without pet care. When the dates of my trip changed, they were generous and flexible enough to watch Scooby a little longer. Scooby normally takes a while to warm up to new people and can be particularly hesitant around men, but he bonded with them incredibly quickly. They truly exceeded my expectations. I will absolutely book again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and wonderful with pets.

For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in District Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.

  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
