“My dog, Rocco, is a 15 year old terrier who had never been under the care of a dog sitter. I was extremely fortunate that Marilyn was available to attend to his care over the past weekend. Marilyn is a very warm, friendly, compassionate, and deeply caring sitter. My dog gravitated to her immediately. Marilyn provided the most amazing and utmost care of our dog throughout the weekend. I highly recommend her services, and will contact her immediately for all my future dog sitting needs.”

“Aly is wonderful with our 3 cats. She learned their personalities quickly and was able to suggest things that would help in the house while we were away. We looked forward to the updates and photos every day!”

“Lindsay was incredible with Sunny. She was very thorough during the meet and greet. She gives detailed updates with great pictures. Overall she goes above and beyond. I would definitely recommend.”

“James was an excellent caregiver for my cat. He came over early to see the house and meet Finbar, sent nice updates and pictures. I would be happy to use his services again.”

“Yanira took amazing care of Ruthie! She can be shy with new people but came out for Yanira, great to get the daily photos! I would absolutely book with her again!”

“Michaela was fantastic with her drop in visits! She took such great care of our dog and sent very detailed updates! She followed all instructions and really had us feeling comfortable knowing he was in great hands! We are so happy and appreciative! :)”

“Sarah was attentive to my cats needs and sent me photos everyday. I really appreciated the piece of mind she gave me knowing that my cat was well taken care of during my trip.”
About: I have been around dogs and cats all of my life. Growing up in the Hudson Valley, we had two dogs: an American Pit Bull Terrier and an APBT Staffie mix. They were the most athletic and lovey dogs! In their senior years, they had medical issues so I am experienced with med management and adopting activities to their capabilities. We also had several cats growing up including adopted strays. Currently, my fiance and I have a half APBT, half Siberian Husky dog. He is the best! We adopted him from a family that kept him in his crate for so long that he bit off a large portion of the hair on his tail. He was reactive in the beginning, lunging at cars on the road and barking and lunging at dogs on walks. I used Spirit Dog Training’s reactivity course and my education in behavioral psychology and research to fix these issues. He no longer does either things and his hair has grown back in spades! We keep him busy by training him (tricks) and mentally stimulated with sniff walks and games like find it, as well as off leash time, hikes, runs, etc. We love hiking with Oto: he recently completed numerous hikes in Acadia National Park and has done Camel’s Hump in VT and Mt. Osceola in NH: he plans on completing the NH 48! In general, I love being outside and active: hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, running, kayaking, rock climbing and going to the gym. I love all dogs, but have a particular drive to keep working dogs happy and healthy! German Shepherds, Border Collies, Huskies, Cattle Dogs, Anatolian Shepherds: it is amazing what they can do and how they have served our communities in numerous roles for decades. I have spent a lot of time with my sister’s German Shepherd and half GSD half Anatolian dogs and my family's Great Danes. I also volunteered at a therapeutic horseback riding center and rode horseback for several years; I find being around horses to be great training for how to interact with, and train, dogs. They are so big that they don’t HAVE to listen to you. Maintaining confidence (even if you don’t feel like it) and a steady hand go a long way, as well as keeping aware of their body language and behaviors. They are very sensitive creatures. In the Fall of 2026, I am resuming my graduate program in clinical social work and have indicated my availability in the details section. However, those times and days don't apply during winter and summer breaks (open availability then). Please share your dog's behaviors and needs with me before scheduling walks. If your dog is reactive (barks at dogs on walks or lunges) please let me know and I can adjust the walking route and make sure to give other dogs plenty of space. Let me know what their usual distance on walks is, as I can try to adjust my pace accordingly. I have a lot of experience with this (decades). If you have treats for your dog, I can take them out with me if needed.
“Annalise was great! She watched out cats on a last minute request, was very accommodating for a meet and greet and very detailed throughout he visits. She sent lots of photos (which we always love) and the cats looked so happy in the photos. We would definitely book Annalise again!”

About: Hi! I'm a recent graduate who lives with a senior cat; I have a lot of experience with senior pets, special needs pets, medication administration, etc. I'm able to exercise with and play however your dog likes! I've been pet sitting and walking dogs for my friends and family (and Wag!) for over a decade (dog in the profile picture is my brother's dog Kuma!) Pets bring me so much joy and I want to help take care of them as a community effort :) I'm here to build trust, please ask any questions 🫰 I am a gig worker currently, therefore very flexible—request me and there's a high chance I'll be available! I'm around weekends and weekdays, my own cat has plenty of alternate caregivers. I would not be able to host pets in my home, but would follow any rules at clients homes to make pets feel safe and regulated :) consistency helps them and me!
“Sarah did a wonderful job looking after our two cats. Her updates were very detailed and really helped in letting us know how things were going back home. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter”

About: I have taken care of friends’ dogs during trips and overnight visits, feeding, playing with, and walking them. I love spending time with pets and am open to caring for any type of dog. I’m currently looking for temporary work and have a lot of free time! Available for day visits as well as overnight, whatever is needed. I am a gentle and adaptable animal lover and I enjoy playing with, caring for, and spending time with dogs and cats of all kinds.
“It was December when our two cats, Martha and Rosie, filled our home and hearts with joy. Since then we haven’t traveled for longer than a couple of nights. This was our first experience with the rover app and Ann Marie. We cannot be happier and relieved from our very positive experience. Ann Marie took great care of our two girls. From the moment she came for the initial house visit, to her amazing and open dialogue during our vacation. Certainly put things at ease. Martha is usually afraid of strangers, but she warmed up to Ann Marie by the end of the week. We looked forward to our daily updates with many great pictures of them. We will definitely use Ann Marie’s services for every trip. Thank you!!”

“Dan is *exactly* the type of person I wanted to take care of my dog. It was evident within about 7 seconds of meeting them that they were warm, trustworthy, and genuine. Dan asked me all the right questions and made me feel like I was leaving my dog with someone I had known for years. That is a rare thing.”

“Mike did a great job doting on our very neurotic cat. He managed to slip a pill into her food every morning, and stayed around for a bit so she could get a "second breakfast" afterwards. He even got to pet her occasionally, something only a very select few can say! Fountains were kept filled, cat box was clean, and bowls weren't overflowing with stale, dried up food. Definitely recommend!”

About: You like it, I love it. You name it (dogs, cats, horses, hamsters), I watch it. Book with me and I’ll take great care of your furry friends :) I’m pretty flexible timing wise so forming my schedule around your pet’s should be easy. Just let me know what a typical day looks like for them and we can go from there. Be sure to communicate with me what your pet’s requirements are in regards to walks, potty breaks, medications, etc. I’d also like to know what your pet’s temperament/social behavior is like. This is so I can know how to conduct myself around them or in the presence of other pets, like on a walk for example.
“I was initially super anxious about using this service, but Stephen put my mind at ease with incredible care, kindness, and communication. Amazing sitter, went above and beyond. Thank you!!!”

About: Hey there – my name is Jessica and I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life. I am an experienced sitter who you can trust to take amazing care of your pup. I take any (and all) opportunities to snuggle and go on fun adventures with dogs. I currently work Monday-Friday and have open availability Friday evenings- Sunday. I would love for my dog to tag along for walk requests, but if your dog needs one on one attention that is okay too! I do have a dog of my own, he is my world and I could definitely tell you how spoiled he is. Your dog(s) wouldn’t be any different, loving them as if they were my own! If you have any questions don’t be afraid to shoot me a message and ask away.

Abby is a wonderful sitter! She goes above and beyond to make sure everything is taken care of at home. Not only did she take care of my baby Smoky, she brought in our packages, took our trash to the curb, and cleaned up a spill in our kitchen; all things that were way out of the spectrum of caring for our kitty! Thank you so much Abby for taking such great care of Smoky. We hope that you can visit again soon over the summer!

Ella took wonderful care of our two cats while we were away. Ella was reliable, attentive, and clearly loves animals, our cats were happy, relaxed, and well fed the whole time. Ella sent updates and photos and a video, which put our minds at ease. Highly recommend Ella for anyone needing a trustworthy, caring cat sitter!
Absolute pleasure working with Emma, she went above and beyond when we got stuck away from home because of the blizzard. Thank you for braving the snow and the wind to keep them happy and fed! We finally made it home to find happy and well taken care of cats. Thank you so much and we look forward to trusting our cats with you in the future, I'm sure they will be excited to see you again :)

This was my second time asking Susannah to watch my cat. My cat loved her the first time and this time was no different. Susannah was prompt with communication about her visits. She sent photos and made sure my cat got to play, eat, and drink regularly. I have no qualms about Susannah watching my cat and think she would be an excellent sitter for other cats and dogs.
Nicole did a great job taking care of my cats over the holidays! She fed them, gave Bindi a pill twice a day, and spent time hanging out/playing with them during each visit. She also sent updates and a ton of pictures every time she stopped by. I appreciate that Nicole was super responsive and asked questions whenever things were unclear. Thank you Nicole ☺️

Karen was amazing! Super communicative and reliable - she also went above and beyond in cleaning up when our kitty made a mess and send great photos and videos that helped us feel comfortable and confident in her services. We could tell our kitty appreciated her visits as well!

Mengyao stepped in last minute when our sitter canceled during Christmas. She was incredibly responsive and communicative. She sent lots of great pictures, videos, and updates during her visits. Our pets loved her and were very well cared for. We can’t recommend Mengyao enough! We are looking forward to having her watch our babies again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dedham. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
