About: I was born into a home with cats, therefore I have 47 years of experience being in their presence. For all of my adult life, I have had my own cats and have helped others take care of theirs by feeding, playing, scooping the litter and taking them out for walks on a kitty-leash. I have experience with ferrel, skittish, playful, needy and calm personalities. Presently my family and I have 2 tuxedo kitties whom we adopted 9 years ago. I love cats.
About: I grew up with cats: as a kid, we lived in the woods and made friends with an outdoor cat that eventually basically lived with us. I love cats, but respect that, generally, when you first meet them, the more you leave them alone the more comfortable they feel! My cat, Sarah (in my picture) was with me for 12 years before she passed away. She was a very energetic and hilarious Tortie and reminded me very much of a mix between a dog and a cat. She would drag her string to me at night and meow very mournfully to wake me up so I would (hopefully) play with it, which involved dangling it high enough for her to jump up and swat at it. In her senior years, she developed epilepsy and had to be medicated to control the seizures, so I am experienced with med management.

About: Hi! I've been around animals my whole life, and caring for pets is truly second nature to me. I've owned and loved both dogs and cats since I was a kid, and that lifelong experience shows in how I care for every animal I meet. What really sets me apart is my background in pet care and dog training. I graduated from Norfolk County Agricultural High School, where I took many animal science courses. I took classes in canine behavior, pet shop management, and animal science. I learned how to handle, groom, and care for dogs of all breeds, through hands-on experiences. I bring patience, knowledge, and lots of love to every pet I care for. I am college student spending the rest of my summer from July 8 until August 22 at home. I work as a kindergarten teacher so I am used to taking care of things and tending to their needs. About: I have been around dogs and cats all of my life. Growing up in the Hudson Valley, we had two dogs: an American Pit Bull Terrier and an APBT Staffie mix. They were the most athletic and lovey dogs! In their senior years, they had medical issues so I am experienced with med management and adopting activities to their capabilities. We also had several cats growing up including adopted strays. Currently, my fiance and I have a half APBT, half Siberian Husky dog. He is the best! We adopted him from a family that kept him in his crate for so long that he bit off a large portion of the hair on his tail. He was reactive in the beginning, lunging at cars on the road and barking and lunging at dogs on walks. I used Spirit Dog Training’s reactivity course and my education in behavioral psychology and research to fix these issues. He no longer does either things and his hair has grown back in spades! We keep him busy by training him (tricks) and mentally stimulated with sniff walks and games like find it, as well as off leash time, hikes, runs, etc. We love hiking with Oto: he recently completed numerous hikes in Acadia National Park and has done Camel’s Hump in VT and Mt. Osceola in NH: he plans on completing the NH 48! In general, I love being outside and active: hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, running, kayaking, rock climbing and going to the gym. I love all dogs, but have a particular drive to keep working dogs happy and healthy! German Shepherds, Border Collies, Huskies, Cattle Dogs, Anatolian Shepherds: it is amazing what they can do and how they have served our communities in numerous roles for decades. I have spent a lot of time with my sister’s German Shepherd and half GSD half Anatolian dogs and my family's Great Danes. I also volunteered at a therapeutic horseback riding center and rode horseback for several years; I find being around horses to be great training for how to interact with, and train, dogs. They are so big that they don’t HAVE to listen to you. Maintaining confidence (even if you don’t feel like it) and a steady hand go a long way, as well as keeping aware of their body language and behaviors. They are very sensitive creatures. In the Fall of 2026, I am resuming my graduate program in clinical social work and have indicated my availability in the details section. However, those times and days don't apply during winter and summer breaks (open availability then). Please share your dog's behaviors and needs with me before scheduling walks. If your dog is reactive (barks at dogs on walks or lunges) please let me know and I can adjust the walking route and make sure to give other dogs plenty of space. Let me know what their usual distance on walks is, as I can try to adjust my pace accordingly. I have a lot of experience with this (decades). If you have treats for your dog, I can take them out with me if needed.

“Our usual dog boarder wasn't available for a short mid-week getaway so we found Julie on Rover. She was wonderful! Julie has a lovely home with a fantastic screened porch and great flat, fenced-in yard. We met a few days before to introduce my dog to hers and share info. Julie's dog is happy and sweet and was good company for mine, in addition to Julie, while we were away. I didn't worry at all knowing our pup was in good hands. Julie even sent me a couple updates and some cute pics and a video - our dog truly had a great stay! We would definitely book Julie again. You should, too. ;)”

Our dog Kippy can be quite a handful. He has a nervous temperament and takes time to warm up to new people, but Dana and Nia were incredibly patient. They took the time to really get to know him, and it showed — Kippy was visibly comfortable and at ease with them, which honestly says everything. On top of that, they were wonderfully flexible and gracious when we ran late, never making us feel rushed or guilty. That kind of warmth and understanding goes a long way.
