“Excellent job again with my reactive guy. He was calm after she left which has not always been the case with dog sitters after they leave. She takes time to mellow him out and it pays off. Very grateful for your kindness and care for my pup <3”

About: I provide dependable, attentive care tailored to your pets specific routine and personality. Because my schedule is highly flexible, I am available for consistent potty breaks, timely feedings, and plenty of one on one playtime without having to rush. Neighbors and friends have always trusted me with their animals because I prioritize safety, comfort, and peace of mind for the owners. I am currently living in Santa Cruz and focusing entirely on pet care. My wide-open schedule gives me the ultimate flexibility to fit seamlessly in your weekly routine, weather you need regular daily dog walks, early morning feedings, or someone around for companionship. Instead of a fenced yard, I focus on dedicated, one on one outdoor time. Your pet will receive my full attention on multiple leash-walks throughout the day to get their energy out. Indoors ill keep a sharp eye on them, clear away any potential hazards, and provide plenty of mental stimulation with games and toys so they are safe and entertained.
About: I love dogs, have had my own but school and work are too demanding for full time care. In the time I have your dog rest assured they will be treated as if they were my own. I look forward to my time with them . I am available most weekdays and weekends, especially morning or day time. I think my love for dogs is my greatest skill, every time I see one I can’t help but go and give it some love. I’m up for anything from walks and play time to down town together just bonding. Beach time is one of my favorite things to do and I would love the company of your dog by my side, everything is more fun with a dog .
“Tarah was fantastic! She did 4 drop-ins a day with our 2 dogs and always sent updates and photos. Our Whippet/Husky mix can be quite a rascal, but Tarah handled her energy very calmly. Very friendly and reliable.”

About: Since I was a kid, I have loved all animals. I was fortunate enough to learn how to take care of multiple pet cats and rabbits in our home. I previously volunteered at a bird rehabilitation center, and interned with a sea turtle conservation group in order to help save hatchlings. I also assisted my family in training our pit bull, who was adopted as an extremely anxious and reactive year old puppy. With compassion and patience, he is now a confident adult dog. In addition to pet-sitting, I currently volunteer at the animal shelter in my spare time, providing enrichment to dogs of various ages, breeds, and temperaments. I have taken care of a variety of pets, from cane corsos to chickens. I love spending my time with animals and will make sure I do everything to keep them entertained and at ease. With each animal I meet, I aim to understand their needs and behavior in order to provide proper care. I’m currently in graduate school, so while I am taking classes and working part-time, my schedule is often flexible. I am happy to accommodate you and your pets’ schedule to the best of my availability. I try my best to update my rover calendar, but please know it may not be 100% accurate as my work schedule is weather-dependent. I am flexible and hope to meet the needs of each individual pet and owner. I am happy to come to your home, or take your pets outside in various parks or beaches around town. For your pet’s safety and well-being, I exclusively walk dogs on a leash. I prefer not to use retractable leashes and can bring my own leash if necessary. I require a meet and greet prior to all first time clients. While taking care of your pets, I keep my phone notifications on and respond promptly.
About: What can I say, I am an absolute animal lover! and I am sure your dog would have a great time with me! I have had animals my whole life and love to shower them with care and affection! I am local teacher with a lot of extra time on my hands for the summer. I love to go on long hikes and adventures or just hangout in my grassy fenced in backyard. Whatever your pet desires, I can make it happen! I live alone but do share my yard with two cats. Not only do I have years of owning my own pets, I also have years of experience volunteering at animal shelters. Working there I have learned some behavioral training techniques, though I am not fully a professional trainer. I am a full time teacher with summers off. I am single with no kids. I have availability in the mornings & afternoons and full availability in the summer. I have a fenced in yard and a pet friendly environment inside my house with no other pets. When at other houses I treat them with care and respect.

About: Hi, I’m Nicolina! I’ve spent the last 10 years working in animal rescue and have been a proud pet owner my entire life. If you're looking for someone who truly understands animal behavior and safety, you've found them. Why choose me? Clinical Experience: Years of working in vet clinics and rehab centers mean I’m trained to handle everything from routine care to emergency situations. Educated Care: I've taken college level courses in animal training and care. Future Vet: I am continuing my journey into Veterinary Medicine this September! I am committed to treating your pets with the same high standard of medical awareness and love that I give to my own. I currently can pet-sit and/or walk any time, any day of the week. I have transportation as required, and can stay the night easily. I will care for your animal however you would care for them if you were home. I have no problem administering medication, taking them on walks, cleaning up after them, etc. I have cared for a multitude of species (including wildlife!) so I am capable of handling situations.
“Callie was so great with our dog Ansel! Despite not having met Callie before, Ansel was pleased to get pets and scratches and spend some time with her in the yard. She was very responsive to on the app, and prompt, and made it so easy on us to leave him for the day. We look forward to having Callie help us again!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs, big and small alike all my life. I grew up with a boxer and a golden retriever in the home so I’m accustomed to the joy of having pets in the house. More recently I’ve pet sat for families who have homes in Europe, and would go visit during the holidays. I’ve been caring for this elderly dog in particular for over 10 years. He’s a sweet tempered dog but takes medicine everyday so I’ve become well adept at hiding his meds inconspicuously to get him to eat it without any problems. I also love working with puppies and find that caring for younger dogs is a lot of fun, and is exciting too! I love aussies, border collies, and spaniels but find that I can get along with just about any breed. I’m the type of person to always stop to ask to pet your dog on walks, and love showering dogs with affection and love. One of my favorite past times, is letting a dog run free off leash, and play frisbee with him or her. I’d love to provide loving, friendly, and fun care to your furry friend and I look forward to our first paw-shake! Currently in school, but available after and before classes start-and free on weekends! I’m in school, but I have plenty of time to run around and meet your pets. I would look forward to days pet sitting, or walking, and would love to meet you and your pets! I care for pets mainly in your home, I find it easiest because some pets can get flustered in new environments. I strive to get to know them and build trust by being in their home turf to see all their favorite toys, and where they feel most comfortable. I look forward to seeing how they play and grow at their most comfortable!
“Cheryl took excellent care of our dog and cat. She truly went above and beyond. She brushed our long haired dog daily, and won over our fickle cat. She sent us regular updates and photos when we on our travels that were a joy to receive and gave us so much peace of mind. Not only were our pets happy and relaxed when we returned home but our house was spotless- honestly cleaner than when we left it. She even took care of our garden and made sure all my plants were happy through the dry winter weather. Cheryl is professional, thoughtful and took care of our animals with so much love. We highly reccomend her!”
“Chelsea does great with my puppy Ringo! She was able to come last minute ( my daughter called me worried about him when she left for work, she said he was barking and had some separation anxiety! ) By the time I got home, he was a happier puppy after Chelsea’s visit!”

About: Hi, I'm Jenn! Having six years of experience as a vet tech, six years of experience caring for pets professionally, and caring for my personal furry companions animals for over 6o years, I bring an exceptional blend of experience, care, and responsibility to my pet care. I have a huge heart for cats and dogs and love to see them happy in their environment. My sensitive nature allows me to be highly attuned to animals and their needs. Others have often commented on my ability to anticipate the needs of people and animals before they are aware of them. I believe in the health and wellbeing of all living things. When your animal is under my care, you can be assured they are receiving the nurturing and care they deserve. I am available for walking, visits, boarding, and more. Please inquire for your particular needs and desires for your pet in your absence. I would be happy to keep your pet loved and safe while you are away. Injections, special needs, training/rehabilitation I am in a very open and expansive time currently in life. I am widely available round the clock for your pets needs. I am available daytime, evenings, and weekends. I do not have a fenced yard on the property I live on in the country, so when boarding with me, dogs will be on leash when outdoors. They will enjoy the many walks they will have around here. When at your home, I take care of your fur baby and belongs with the utmost respect and safety.
“Melanie took excellent care of our kitty over the Christmas holiday. Our girl is very clingy and craves attention, so we always get nervous when we have to go out of town. Melanie was very flexible and easy to work with (which I know can be difficult during the holidays!) and always responded quickly to every message. Most importantly, she took the very best care of Penny, following all the instructions we left and making sure to give her the love and attention she needs. Melanie went above and beyond and I wouldn’t hesitate to turn to her again for our next trip.”
About: I have been caring for my 13 year old dog, Molly, for 11 years. I am also an active volunteer at the county animal shelter, working with dogs (1,000+ hours) and cats (400+ hours). I have a special place in my heart for dogs with behavioral and medical needs, and working with them at the shelter has taught me patience and skills that help to make the animals more comfortable. I also have training in puppy care, senior dog care, walking leash-sensitive dogs, and caring for injured animals. The time I get to spend with dogs is the most fun I have doing anything, and I take a lot of pride in caring for them with the appropriate level of attention and patience they need. I work remotely and have a flexible schedule, so I am available to walk and care dogs at a variety of hours. The length of walks is up to you and your dog-- I am happy to do short walks or longer outings depending on what you need! I am happy to refer you to references (animal shelter staff and volunteers) who can attest to my dog-handling skills and my ability to work with dogs from a variety of backgrounds. The safety of your pet and your home always come first, and I am very comfortable taking any steps needed to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
About: Hello! I’ve spent years taking care of pets of my own, as well as for friends, neighbors, on Rover and Trusted Housesitters. They always bring so much joy and fun energy. I take caring for other people’s pets as a big responsibility and always want them to feel safe, happy, and loved while their owners are away. My past references have said kind things about my reliability, communication, and the care I give to their pets, which means a lot to me. I’m always happy to send photo or video updates so you can see how your pets are doing. I know how much peace of mind that can bring. I’d love the chance to meet your pets and make sure they’re well taken care of while you’re gone. 🐾 I am available anytime on Sat-Mon, and on weekdays from 5:30-8pm. Currently working at an elementary school nutrition office from 8-5pm Tues-Fri every week. Outside of my work hours, my availability is very flexible. Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 2,117 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across Day Valley. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Day Valley. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
