“Michelle was very pleasant and patient with my dog, who is not accustomed to people outside of our family. When we arrived, she made sure she understood all of our preferences regarding eating, sleeping, and socializing. Throughout our time away, she sent pictures and text updates on how my dog was adjusting. When we picked Max up, he was clean, calm, and doing great overall. A great experience!”

“Tony has watched my dog, Saint, twice now, and I couldn’t be happier with the care he’s provided. I’m new to using Rover and I’m extremely thankful that I found Tony. So much so that I refuse to look for any other sitter. He’s been pleasant to work with, trustworthy, and always makes me feel confident that Saint is in great hands. One thing I really appreciate is the updates. Every picture Tony sends, Saint looks genuinely happy, relaxed, and comfortable, which gives me so much peace of mind while I’m away. It’s obvious that Saint enjoys spending time with him. I truly appreciate Tony’s flexibility as I venture out of town pretty often. Whether Saint is there with others or just as the only guest, he’s always well cared for and comes home happy. I highly recommend Tony to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!”

“Very friendly, lots of pics and updates, and most important... They were patient with my spoiled mutt. They were just as friendly as they were professional. Definitely recommend them in high esteem.”

“Absolutely amazing! Kept me updated on Castle her entire stay. Sent plenty of pictures, was generous & very understanding when I had to rearrange our meeting time & drop off. I will 100% recommend and will be booking again !”

“Finding Maria on Rover was a blessing to me and my son. While we were out of town for Thanksgiving, Flash stayed with Maria. She took excellent care of Flash. And sent pictures every day. I definitely will be a repeat customer. Thank you Maria!”

“Lyndsay and Charlyn took such wonderful care of my puppy. They took him out every 2 hours and made sure he was happy during his day! I also loved how they kept me informed about Lulu and sent me the most adorable pictures of him! Next time I go to Columbia I will definitely have him stay with them again!! Thanks again for everything”

“We couldn't be happier with the care that Tabitha provided for my furry baby! They were incredibly attentive, responsible, and clearly passionate about animals. My dog, Rubble, is always excited to see her, which gave me great peace of mind while I was away. I highly recommend Tabitha to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving caregiver for their pet. We are repeat clients.”

“Susan was exactly what we were looking for when we booked for a holiday weekend. She responded quickly, had open availability, has a sweet dog that our energetic pup could play with, and pricing was fair. We will definitely consider Susan the next time our dog needs to be boarded.”

“Eileen is the greatest. Of course I mean all the usual stuff like great communication and great space/yard for my dog. But when I say she is the greatest, I am referring to her absolute love of dogs….. and that includes my dog. She sent me pictures and videos that warmed my heart each day I was away from him. He was so content, playful, and happy that I was almost jealous. It’s not just dogs she lives…..she loved my dog and it showed. I highly recommend Eilleen because you will be grateful and happy. Fergus and I are going back.”
“Kristin was wonderful with our 2 girls from the start. She was very responsive and thorough with our inquiries, and came to our house to meet us and our girls prior to our trip, which meant a lot to us and we really appreciated it. She took great care of Heidi and Bianca while we were out of town, and sent us feedback, pics &/or videos every day. There were no delays when we contacted her with a question or status update. We were super pleased with Kristin and the care she took with our girls, and we will definitely use her again! Thank you Kristin!”

“Lindsey and Aaron are our go to dog sitters! They’re always so happy to watch our dog and she loves going to their house! We get lots of updates while we’re gone and I know she is well-loved and taken care of. She gets along great with their sweet dogs and always returns happy once we can finally convince her to come back home with us. I highly recommend you book Lindsay and Aaron the next time you need a dog sitter!”

“Thank you, Savannah! Opie had a quick overnight trip with Savannah and Chandler. Very responsive. Easy peasy and Opie is a happy camper. Appreciate the happy home with a playmate for Opie to stay at.”

“Qais did an outstanding job caring for my senior dog, Sly. At 16 years old, Sly is a sweet, reserved, go-with-the-flow gentleman who prefers naps, treats, and taking life at a slower pace. Like many geriatric dogs, Sly has a few age-related challenges and requires a little extra patience, attention, and understanding. From the moment I met him, I felt comfortable leaving my dog in his care. Throughout the stay, my dog was well fed, comfortable, and given plenty of affection. I especially appreciated the communication. Regular pictures and videos gave me peace of mind while I was away. It was reassuring to see Sly relaxed, comfortable, and clearly being well cared for. I had a few last-minute changes to my boarding request and ended up being a little late both dropping Sly off and picking him up. Despite the inconvenience, he was understanding and accommodating. His flexibility and professionalism were greatly appreciated. The environment was warm, welcoming, and stress-free, exactly what an older dog needs. It was clear that Sly was being treated like a member of the family rather than simply being boarded. I would not hesitate to recommend Qais to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate pet sitter. Caring for a senior dog can require extra effort, and he handled it with kindness and genuine care. I will certainly reach out again whenever I need accommodations for my dog.”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was a teenager and have experience with a wide variety of breeds and personalities. Currently, I have a 4-year-old German Shepherd/Lab mix and a 4-month-old Jack Russell Terrier. Over the years, I’ve owned and cared for German Shepherds, Beagles, Pit Bulls, Jack Russells, Labradors, and Schnauzers, and at one point had as many as six dogs. I’ve also owned a cat and have experience caring for cats as well. Friends frequently trust me to pet sit for them, and I genuinely love spending time with animals. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, playful, or needs a little extra patience, I’ll treat them like they’re my own. I also am a Volunteer Dog walker and caregiver at Columbia Animal Shelter. I have a very flexible schedule and am committed to providing reliable, attentive care while you’re away. I’m currently in the army and work 2-3 days a week.my husband stays at home full time. I have a very flexible schedule. I care for every pet as if they were my own. In my client’s home, I follow their pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and plenty of attention and affection. I know how important consistency is for pets, especially when their owners are away. If caring for pets in my home, I provide a safe, clean, and supervised environment with regular potty breaks, exercise, playtime, fresh water, and lots of love. I pay close attention to each pet’s individual needs, personality, and comfort level to help them feel secure and happy.
“When I say she is a great dog sitter, I really mean it! She is a great dog sitter! She sent regular photos and updates throughout my dog’s stay. She loves animals and has a wonderful demeanor, spirit, and personality. I highly recommend her for any dog services that she offers.”

“Assatta was amazing I am so grateful for her! She treated my dog like her own and that's all I ask for. She made sure to keep me updated with videos and pictures. I will definitely be booking again!”

“Kathy was terrific with our pit bull. He's super friendly with people, but sometimes needs a minute to warm up to dogs. Kathy did a wonderful job letting him get adjusted to her animals. He made great friends, got tons of playtime, and lots of love! She also sent us daily texts with pics and videos. Would absolutely board with Kathy again.”

We were immediately comfortable with the care and attention our Hazel received during her stay with Qais! He kept us updated with photos and videos to let us know how she was settling in and how she continued to do during her entire stay. We will definitely be reaching out to him again, and we are so thankful to have a new sitter to take care of her for us!

Nikki was great, she took our couch tiger for walks and sent pictures daily. She seems very capable of taking great care of the 4 legged loved ones. We would seek to have her keep our pup in the future if the need arises. Thanks, for a much better environment than a boarding kennel.
Madison did an amazing job with my dog Goose! He is very shy and has a hard time meeting new people, but he warmed up to her very quickly. She sent plenty of video and picture updates while I was away. She made sure Goose was comfortable in her home and I will definitely board with her in the future!

Kristin kept us updated while our fur baby stayed with her for 4 days. We usually bring our baby with us everywhere, but we couldn't on this trip. I was very nervous about leaving her with someone new but she did so good. We are moving soon but if we need Kristin before then we will definitely have her watch our baby again!!

Elizabeth is amazing!! She loves on your puppy as if it was her own. Our Bella had the best time with Elizabeth. She sent us several pics each day and updates on her eating and activity. I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for our Bella and we had such peace of mind knowing she was in the greatest of care while we were away.

Katelyn and her family were WONDERFUL! Her toddler was so gentle with Scout & Sadie and they loved her. Katelyn spoiled my babies with lots of play time outside and petting. I loved getting photo and video updates from her. She has a big, safe backyard for playing and she was so kind and gentle with them. We will DEFINITELY use Katelyn in the future.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in SC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
