“This was my first time leaving my dog with a sitter. Stacey and her family took care and treated my dog as if she were their own. Stacey stayed in contact throughout the entire time an updated me if needed. My dog came back in the same condition if not better then when i dropped her off. Would defiantly use again and recommend.”

About: I’ve had pets my whole life and couldn’t imagine it any other way. My cat Chanel has been with me for 5 years and my cocker spaniel Bentley for 1 year. I’ll treat your pets like my own with plenty of walks, cuddles, and love. I know how important it is to feel at ease when you’re away from your fur babies and I’ll make sure they’re happy and cared for. I have a flexible schedule and am able to go home throughout the day and check on your pet if I’m not already home. I am usually home all weekend and if not then your pet is welcome to join my activities! Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I live in a pet‑friendly apartment community with three dog parks, giving plenty of safe space to run and play. I’ll always keep a close eye on them, provide fresh water, and make sure they feel happy, loved, and cared for in a secure environment.
“Michael did a great job caring for Boots. He was easy to communicate with and provided frequent updates while boarding him for the few days I was in town. Michael also was flexible and able to watch Boots an additional night when my apartment hunting took longer than expected. I will definitely be contacting Michael for my future dog care needs when I relocate to the area!”

“This is the second time we’ve used Merrell for our English Cocker while we were visiting family in Columbia. Our dog loves her and ran right up to her when we dropped him off. We got plenty of pictures and updates for his stay. Highly recommend Merrell.”

“Gina was AMAZING. This was my first time leaving Benji with a sitter but Gina quickly calmed my nerves. She sent pictures of Benji doing various activities and one of his favorites was cuddling with her. I 10/10 recommend for your fur baby needs when you need to be away but want them to still feel loved!”

About: I have had a dog (childhood puppy at home) my whole life and she is my best friend! I have fostered multiple puppies, some who aren’t potty trained, and have experience overnight sitting. My roommates also love to have furry friends around! I am a full time graduate student with a part time job, but will be home a lot and love to get exercise walking. I also have 5 other roommates who would be happy to help out if I am busy with class. I have a front patio for quality outside time, but it is not fenced. I will be outside with your pet whenever we hang out on the patio, otherwise we will be inside.
“Lindsey and Aaron were awesome with my baby Mocha at short notice. They were happy to accommodate our needs and sent pictures the entire time. This is our second time booking and won’t be our last.”

“Thank you so much, we really appreciate your flexibility. We are definitely bringing Ember again, I believe she was happy at your place and we appreciate the picture that you sent us :-)”

“Absolutely amazing! Kept me updated on Castle her entire stay. Sent plenty of pictures, was generous & very understanding when I had to rearrange our meeting time & drop off. I will 100% recommend and will be booking again !”

“Lyndsay and Charlyn took such wonderful care of my puppy. They took him out every 2 hours and made sure he was happy during his day! I also loved how they kept me informed about Lulu and sent me the most adorable pictures of him! Next time I go to Columbia I will definitely have him stay with them again!! Thanks again for everything”

“I could tell our two cockapoos were treated like family members and weren’t clingy after I brought them home. I loved that Becky kept us updated and took such wonderful care of the kids.”

About: Hi! I’m a caring and dependable pet sitter with experience caring for both dogs and cats. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs, and I’m committed to providing them with plenty of love, attention, and care while you’re away. I’m comfortable with feeding, walks, playtime, litter box care, and keeping pets comfortable in their usual routines. Your pets’ safety and happiness are always my top priorities! I am a work from home mom and have all the time to play with your fur babies! I have a large fenced in backyard that is fully secure. I also have an air conditioned garage. All pets are welcome to be inside all day long but sometimes they want to play and run and it’s nice to have a cool down spot. All animals are welcome to stay inside all day and night. I am always home and my daughter has been raised and daughter how to be safe and appropriate with new animals. We treat others and their pets with the respect we would want in return.
“Margie is amazing! We left our Cavalier for the first time and he adjusted so well. He stayed with Margie for 6 nights and when we brought him home, he really missed her and some of his new buddies. She is a natural and treats your pet like they are part of her family. Highly recommend her if you have a small breed pet!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Cayce
Kathy was so great with our dog! He rarely goes anywhere without us and can be pretty anxious, but she was incredibly patient and caring with him. She really went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable, giving him treats and even letting him cuddle up on her bed. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was being so well cared for. We really appreciate all the kindness and attention she gave him and would absolutely trust her with him again! ❤️

Weller was a first time attendee with Lexi. Even though he is a friendly Labrador he sometimes takes sometime to trust. He was treated like a King and loved the time he spent. Lexi and her staff understand each dog that visits is different and they are professional in the way they treat all animals. Many thanks.
Nikki was great, she took our couch tiger for walks and sent pictures daily. She seems very capable of taking great care of the 4 legged loved ones. We would seek to have her keep our pup in the future if the need arises. Thanks, for a much better environment than a boarding kennel.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Kasey! From the moment I left my fur baby in her care, I knew he was in great hands. She followed all of his feeding instructions perfectly, made sure he received his medication as directed, and went above and beyond to provide the love and attention he needed. What impressed me most was how Kasey treated him as if he were part of her own family. It was clear that she genuinely cared about his well-being and happiness, which gave me tremendous peace of mind while I was away. Kasey was also incredibly communicative throughout the entire stay. She kept me updated regularly with messages and photos, making me feel connected and completely stress-free knowing my pup was being so well cared for. The level of professionalism, compassion, and dedication she showed exceeded all of my expectations. I came home to a happy, healthy, and well-loved dog, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I highly recommend Kasey to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and reliable to care for their pets. She is truly exceptional!

Katelyn and her family were WONDERFUL! Her toddler was so gentle with Scout & Sadie and they loved her. Katelyn spoiled my babies with lots of play time outside and petting. I loved getting photo and video updates from her. She has a big, safe backyard for playing and she was so kind and gentle with them. We will DEFINITELY use Katelyn in the future.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in SC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
