I couldn’t recommend Net (Stephanie B) anymore! We went away for a few days for thanksgiving and left her with our 2 dogs, 3 cats, lizard, and chickens and she was absolutely fantastic. She followed our feeding walking directions perfectly and had excellent communication. Our house was left nicer than we left it and our pups were clearly happy and well taken care of. She even made sure to give them a walk before we got home so we could unpack and relax. Don’t hesitate, book Net!

Lauren stayed with our dog while we were away for a few days. She is very nice, prompt, and professional. She sent pictures and kept us updated while we were gone. We came home to a happy dog. We got back later than we expected due to airline issues and she was very accommodating by staying until we got home. I highly recommend her.

About: I treat all animals as if they are my own ( even the wild ones :') ). I provide my own pets with consistent, routine driven training that keeps them stimulated while also building the bond between us. Whether a cat, dog, or other furry friends, you can count on me to show them the love and care that they deserve. I love taking my dogs for a walk or just sitting and talking with them. Routine training and walking has helped me be successful when I have owned/trained my dogs. Calm, consistent leadership is so important in the dynamic of my animals and I. Both of my dogs are crate trained, walked twice daily to keep their minds stimulated, and PLAYTIME! Lots of playtime throughout the day. I cannot be with my dogs all day so I do need to wear them out sometimes when I know I will be gone for more than 4 hours. On top of general maintenance for the animals, high quality food and bone/joint supplements are provided as well as healthy treats. We try to only bathe when needed but that's usually once a month. Both of my dogs are linked with a vet as well in case of emergency and they are up to date on all their shots and medications to keep them healthy and disease free.

Kevin did a fantastic job house sitting with Igloo for the day! He even went out of his way to come meet Igloo a couple days before so that she would be comfortable staying with a new person in the house. He kept us updated with photos during the day. It was great being able to have the day to ourselves and not worry - we would definitely have him back again!

About: Hi! I'm a dependable, caring, and detail-oriented pet sitter who understands that every pet deserves to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owner is away. Whether your pet needs overnight care, drop-in visits, walks, feeding, playtime, or companionship, I'll treat them as if they were my own. I'm happy to follow your pet's routine, including feeding schedules, exercise, administering oral medications if needed, and providing regular photo and video updates so you can have peace of mind while you're away. I've looked after pets with different personalities and energy levels. My responsibilities have included feeding, walking, playtime, maintaining routines, providing plenty of affection, cleaning up after pets, and making sure they felt comfortable while their owners were away. I understand how important consistency and patience are when caring for animals, and I always strive to create a calm, positive environment where pets feel secure. Outside of pet sitting, I'm a pharmacy student, which has strengthened my attention to detail, responsibility, and ability to follow instructions carefully. I know how important it is to be reliable, communicate clearly, and respond promptly. If your pet has specific routines or special care instructions, you can trust that I'll follow them closely. I currently work part-time and have a flexible schedule, allowing me to dedicate quality time to the pets in my care. My availability includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and many weekdays. I plan my commitments carefully so that every pet receives the attention, exercise, potty breaks, and companionship they need. My goal is to make your time away as stress-free as possible, for both you and your pet. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member! I currently work part-time, which gives me a flexible schedule for pet care! I’m available for dog walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting throughout the week. About: I've been a lifelong cat companion and caregiver, having raised and nurtured them since I was young. Over time, I've also bonded with my cousins' and friends' dogs, learning their unique needs and quirks while helping with everything from daily care to playtime. Whether it's a playful pup or a curious cat, I genuinely enjoy keeping tails wagging and whiskers happy. Since I currently work remotely, my schedule is wide open for pet sitting and dog walking— whether it’s a midday stroll or an overnight cuddle session. With a little heads-up, I’m happy to help with house sitting, too. Caring for animals isn’t just a part of my day — it’s something I truly look forward to. In my home, I’m the go-to comfort zone for my two cats — they always come to me for cuddles, calm, and of course, their meals. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I create that same sense of safety and familiarity. My friends’ dogs naturally stick close to me, whether we’re relaxing or out for a walk, because I make sure they feel secure, heard, and happy. Whether it’s your place or mine, I treat every pet like family — with patience, gentleness, and attention to their unique needs.

We felt so comfortable leaving our pup in Cheyenne’s care! Cheyenne went out of her way to make sure our girl was not only safe and cared for, but also had so much fun playing while we were away. We received such great photos and updates while we were gone, and knew our girl was in the best hands. We had so much confidence knowing Cheyenne’s extensive history and experience with animals, which was even more reassuring (our pup has seizures from time to time and takes a daily medication). Cheyenne was also so respectful of our home, and always communicated promptly and professionally. Thank you again, Cheyenne!!

Nicole took such good care of our golden retriever Tanner and tuxedo cat Milo for a week while we were away. She gave them both a lot of attention, took Tanner out on walks and made sure they both received a lot of love and treats. I enjoyed the pictures of both of them each day and I could see they were both happy and enjoying her care. She made sure the house was tidy and picked up after our week away which I greatly appreciated. She is an excellent pet sitter.

FAQs for House Sitting - Cohoes

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Cohoes on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 638 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cohoes. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cohoes walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cohoes maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cohoes choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cohoes. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
