“Julia was awesome with Bonnie. We had a meet and greet prior to leaving her with a new sitter. Bonnie is 80 pounds and leash reactive. I wanted to make sure Julia was able to handle her in walks. She definitely was. You could tell she is around animals a lot and knows how to care for them. We left Bonnie for two nights with Julia. Bonnie was happy and well taken care of. Our house was also well maintained. She was clean and very neat. We have rebooked her for a trip we are taking in October. Thank you Julia for taking great care of Bonnie.”

About: Hi! I’m Mary Evelyn! I am a full-time preschool teacher with summers off. I love to care for other people‘s pets and put families at ease while they enjoy their summer. I grew up in a house full of pets. We had two dogs, a cat, two ferrets, two parakeets, and a rabbit. Unfortunately, my husband is allergic and we can’t have a pet full-time in our house. To fill that void, I spend my summers loving on your fur babies! My children, 10 and 12, are also animal lovers and often are with me caring for the animals. I am a loving and gentle nurturer. I treat your pets just like my own. This is not just a job for me. This is a choice to keep animals in my life because I know the joy they bring. I love to provide owners with pictures and updates, as many as you want and need. I’m also happy to take care of anything at the house that needs tending – mail, plants, cleaning, etc. I look forward to connecting with you! I have full availability over the summer and I am willing to accommodate any kind of schedule. During the fall and winter, my availability is limited to evenings and weekends. My preference is to care for your pet in your home. My kids (12 and 10) sometimes accompany me, as they also love to care for animals and are learning how to be productive and responsible. If you prefer I solely care for your animals, that is completely fine. I always defer to the client and their pet's needs. If I'm providing boarding in my home, the animal will be restricted to our first floor. I do not have a fenced in yard, so I would provide frequent walks throughout the day.
“Nikki was fabulous with our pup Basil! Basil was able to thrive during their several days together, and as an over 15 year young dog with senior care needs, this was especially important to our confidence in being able to leave him with someone. Not only was Nikki attentive to Basils needs and the details of his daily care routine which included his daily medications as well as his daily playtime and romps outdoors, but was also incredibly supportive of him the first night when he was experiencing separation anxiety from us. Nikki kept things running like a well oiled machine and was very proactive. When our refrigerator decided to break down while we were away, she alerted us of the situation and proactively moved an entire refrigerator of items over to our second refrigerator in the garage. It has been several months since we have been able to travel and we now feel comfortable having Nikki on board. We highly recommended her for pet sitting services! Just say yes!”

About: I always pay attention to a pets body language, even my own. I also have knowledge of CPR and the Heimlich maneuver on animals and how their size will change the approach. I have a lot of free time to safely, smartly, and comfortably take care of your pets while I work on my physical therapy education The trust of a pet is incredibly important to me. With cautious animals, I always make an effort to show I am not a threat and listen to the signals from even friendly animals.

“Tom did a great job with Chidi! He can be tricky and he was very patient as Chidi reacclimated. He also shoveled our stairs and cleaned off our car after the snow which was nice to come home to.”

About: I've been around dogs all my life, I've had three wonderful family dogs growing up with distinct personalities and needs. I have experience with dogs with special needs such as mobility issues, temperment/reactivity issues, and medication regimes. I dogsat my teacher's epileptic poodle when she couldn't be boarded due to her medication needs, helped my neighbor's basset get around during the last years of his life, walked and played with my other neighbor's golden to get his energy out, gave a much-needed bath to a frail elderly minature when his owner passed away, and nursed a sickly puppy back to health while he was being quarantined in my room away from other pets. I believe dogs are unique like people and they all have different boundaries, comfort levels, personalities, and needs, and the secret to the best pet care is getting to know every individual like they are your own loved one. I work part time three days a week (9am-3pm, tues/weds/sat), so I will be gone for my shift for that six hours if I'm dogsitting on those days! Otherwise, I'm available for services all other times except a couple hours every Sunday for my weekly DnD session :-) I'm very flexible and I'm sure we can figure out a schedule that works for both of us, and your pets! I cannot host pets in my own home due to my own pets, but I'm totally willing to come hang out with your pet at your home! I'll take your lead: Want me to hang out there for hours and keep your pet company? Works for me! Want me to only check in every so often, and only enter parts of the home that I absolutely have to? Also fine! Whatever works for you, I can work around it.
“Again Philip was a great choice for watching widget in our home while we were gone most of the day! Always communicative, sends lots of pictures and is super flexible.”

“Once again, Adora took excellent care of Monty. We received updates and pictures every day. The house was perfect; everything was perfect. We highly recommend Adora and will be booking her again for sure!”

“Alexandra did a very good job house sitting our dog, Luna. She took her on long walks and communicated with us at least once a day. She has also become a favorite of Luna.”
“Nicole took such great care of all three of our furry men and our home! She provided prompt communication, pictures, and went the extra mile like brining in our trash cans, etc. at the house. Thank you Nicole!”

“From the start, Hannah was professional, responsive, and easy to coordinate with. She was so sweet to our puppy and he really seemed to enjoy her company! She sent updates and pictures which gave us a peace of mind. Our puppy was well cared for and happy when we returned. We will absolutely be booking with Hannah again!”

“Eric has been sitting my 3 y/o rescue Beagle, Walter, for a few months now, to help with his separation anxiety. Eric is great -- not only is he understanding and knowledgeable of Walter's special needs, such as his fear of men and new situations, among other things, he's made some very helpful suggestions that have helped with Walter's anxiety. He is trustworthy, kind and reliable, and I would highly recommend him to anyone; you can rest easy knowing your pets are under Eric's care.”

“Emily was a fantastic sitter, she provided regular updates and photos, and allowed us to truly enjoy our time away from home without worrying about our dog. I will absolutely reach out to Emily again for our next trip!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Chelmsford
Nikki is our absolute favorite caretaker for Ashe. You can tell from the pictures and videos she sends that our anxious guy feels so at home with and loved by her. She is attentive, so caring, and follows instructions exactly. She takes great care of our pup and our home and I just can't say enough good things about her. We have had Nikki come three times for overnight stays while out of town and if I had it my way we would always have her!

Michelle was great taking care of our dog, Finn! She is a natural with dogs and communicated daily with us. This was our first time leaving Finn with a non-family member overnight and she eased our worries! I would definitely have Michelle watch Finn again!

Christy was once again a wonderful pet sitter. Knowing she was caring for my cat gave me complete peace of mind while I was traveling, and I was able to focus on what I needed to get done instead of worrying about my favorite cat on the planet. She is attentive, kind, responsive, and always reliable. Even during a snowstorm, I had no concerns about my cat or my home because I knew Christy would make sure he was safe and cared for. I am incredibly grateful for the care and consistency she provides every time.

We had a wonderful experience with Lisa house sitting and taking care of our senior dog and handful of cats. Our old lady dog had a stressful time without us and Lisa was so patient with her and kept us in the loop the whole time. It was so nice to come home to a house not covered in furr like we normally do, so thank you Lisa! Would highly recommend her and will absolutely use her in the future.

Kristina did a fabulous job helping us out in a pinch with our dog, cat, and surprise guest (cat #2). We got in contact with Kristina on short notice and she was amazingly accommodating. She confirmed and patiently waited for my arrival on a FaceTime meet and greet call. I would not have known she was new to the service as she asked great questions and came off as seasoned and skilled. She made us feel like we could trust her from the drop and day of kept us posted with updates and photos. Our dog took to her quickly and she is someone who we would highly recommend as well as use again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Chelmsford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Chelmsford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chelmsford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
