Nikki did a great job taking care of our 4-month-old puppy, Gus, for 9 days — no easy task! Aside from the basics of feeding, potty (even when he resisted), exercise and training, Nikki gave Gus LOTS of love. She clearly enjoyed playing and snuggling with her new buddy and she kept us updated with daily messages, photos and videos. Plus, when our return flight was delayed, Nikki cheerfully stayed late into the evening, even though she had another dog-sitting job starting the next day. Thanks, Nikki — we had such peace of mind knowing you were taking good care of our little puppy!

OMG we went on vacation for three weeks and left our cat and our home in the care of Lilian, who was a rockstar. She took care of everything, followed all of our instructions and when we came home this time our cat was completely at ease. Usually when we return home from vacation, whether it's a week or longer and we have somebody stop in, we hear it from the cat for a good two weeks waking us up early in the morning rauling, but this time Bella just showed love and has been 100% normal. We would hire her again in our heartbeat. Best decision we ever made!

About: My name is Alyssa and it would be my pleasure to take care of your animal! I’m an experienced pet sitter. I have dogs and a cat of my own so believe that your animal is in the best care. Whatever needs your animals has I can take care of. I am serious when it comes to doing anything with making sure animals are safe and happy. I can give medication, meet your pets needs, and go the extra mile for the best care for your animal. I am currently a student and looking for a part time job, so as of now I am available through out the weekday to help check in on your pet while you’re at work, on vacation, or simply out for the day! I can do special request if needed on weekends. I do not offer boarding at my personal home, but am happy to drive to your home instead! About: As a proud dog owner myself, I bring genuine love and energy to every pet I care for. I understand how important your fur baby is to you, and I treat every dog like my own — with patience, attention, and lots of playtime. Your pup is in great hands! I work part-time, so I have plenty of time and flexibility throughout the day to give your pup the attention they deserve. I’m available midday and afternoons, making me a great fit for dogs who need midday check-ins or walks. I live in a cozy 1-bedroom apartment with my own friendly, socialized dog — so your pup will always have a playmate! I keep a safe, pet-proofed space and treat every dog like family.

About: Hi! I’m Mary Evelyn! I am a full-time preschool teacher with summers off. I love to care for other people‘s pets and put families at ease while they enjoy their summer. I grew up in a house full of pets. We had two dogs, a cat, two ferrets, two parakeets, and a rabbit. Unfortunately, my husband is allergic and we can’t have a pet full-time in our house. To fill that void, I spend my summers loving on your fur babies! My children, 10 and 12, are also animal lovers and often are with me caring for the animals. I am a loving and gentle nurturer. I treat your pets just like my own. This is not just a job for me. This is a choice to keep animals in my life because I know the joy they bring. I love to provide owners with pictures and updates, as many as you want and need. I’m also happy to take care of anything at the house that needs tending – mail, plants, cleaning, etc. I look forward to connecting with you! I have full availability over the summer and I am willing to accommodate any kind of schedule. During the fall and winter, my availability is limited to evenings and weekends. My preference is to care for your pet in your home. My kids (12 and 10) sometimes accompany me, as they also love to care for animals and are learning how to be productive and responsible. If you prefer I solely care for your animals, that is completely fine. I always defer to the client and their pet's needs. If I'm providing boarding in my home, the animal will be restricted to our first floor. I do not have a fenced in yard, so I would provide frequent walks throughout the day.

About: Hi! I’ve loved dogs and animals for as long as I can remember. Being around animals has always felt natural to me — their energy, personalities, and unconditional love are something I truly connect with. I currently work at a doggy daycare and boarding facility, where I care for dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. From energetic puppies to senior dogs who need a little extra patience and comfort, I’m experienced in providing safe, attentive, and loving care. My daily responsibilities include supervised group play, feeding routines, cleaning and sanitizing, monitoring behavior, and helping pets feel comfortable while away from home. Working in this environment has taught me how to read body language, manage multiple dogs safely, and respond calmly in any situation. Your pet’s safety, happiness, and well-being are always my top priorities. I genuinely love what I do — I’ve always been the kind of person who picks animals over people! Caring for pets isn’t just a job for me; it’s something I’m truly passionate about. I treat every dog and cat as if they were my own and make sure they feel loved, secure, and cared for while you’re away. I can’t wait to meet your furry family member! I am available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday. Just send me a message and I will most definitely find you time to fit you in I am very flexible I have a fenced in yard, lots of treats toys and bones, access to inside. Crate friendly if needed, or wanted. Very safe, cozy, warm, entertainable home

Sheylah was wonderful with our very old dog. She went above and beyond learning what her needs and likes were. She is pretty savvy about asking all the right questions in caring for our Annie. I felt very comfortable having Sheylah live in our home while looking after our doggy. If we have the opportunity again to get away, Sheylah will be the first call I make.

About: I’ve worked at a doggy daycare for the past 4 years taking care of and monitoring dogs and cats of all ages, shapes and sizes! However, I have cared for and owned animals my whole life. I have experience administering oral medication, insulin shots, and am pet CPR certified. I also have experience working with dogs with seizure disorders. When I come to take care of, play with, and walk your pet/s I will dedicate my time to loving them! I would love to take them to the dog park where they can have social interactions while you’re away! I have a dog of my own and know how important pets are, and want to give you a sense of security while they’re in my care. I’m currently home from college, so I am extremely flexible! I am available 7 days a week from 7am-11pm, and also for overnights if needed. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet! I am trained in pet CPR and always prioritize safety during walks, drop-in visits, and house sitting. Since pets are often most comfortable in their own environment, I focus on keeping their routine consistent and following all owner instructions closely. I'll make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, exercise, and care while keeping you updated with photos and messages along the way!

She slept over for several nights and you wouldn't even know she had visited, everything was so tidy when I returned. When Nicole came back to drop off my keys, Gracie was so happy to see her. Julia watched our 5-year old rescue dog for a repeat week-long visit. Despite challenges: our dog chasing bunnies all over the backyard and coyote sightings in the local conservation land, she was calm and resourceful. She reliably sent great photos and an update at the end of each day and kept our boy safe, happy, and well loved. Plus Julia always leaves the house clean and neat.

Kristina did a fabulous job helping us out in a pinch with our dog, cat, and surprise guest (cat #2). We got in contact with Kristina on short notice and she was amazingly accommodating. She confirmed and patiently waited for my arrival on a FaceTime meet and greet call. I would not have known she was new to the service as she asked great questions and came off as seasoned and skilled. She made us feel like we could trust her from the drop and day of kept us posted with updates and photos. FAQs for House Sitting - Chelmsford

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Chelmsford on Rover is $5.55 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 6,378 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Chelmsford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Chelmsford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Chelmsford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chelmsford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chelmsford. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
