“Grey was fantastic with my older dog, Luna. I came home to a happy, relaxed dog. He was incredibly communicative and sent me wonderful updates and pictures throughout my trip. I will definitely rebook with him!!”

“Charlie had a great weekend with Sara! Sara dedicated her weekend to making sure Charlie was taken care of, had lots of exercise, and lots of attention. This was my first time using Rover and Sara put my mind at ease by spending time getting to know Charlie and learning her routine and she sent lots of pictures and updates during the weekend. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone and she will be the first person I seek out if I need someone to watch Charlie in the future!”

“Melissa provided excellent and loving care to our dog and three cats during our summer vacation. She was also thoughtful about sending regular photos and an excellent guest in our home. I highly commend her to anyone seeking pet care!”

“Sonya was great! She stayed with our dog Moose and our gecko Spike. She sent so many wonderful photos and communicated throughout. We really appreciate her taking such good care of them both.”

“Laura was wonderful with our dog and 2 cats! Luca is very large and still a puppy, so, it’s not always easy with that combination! Laura was patient and kind! Would definitely like to use her again!”

“We needed a sitter to watch our dog, Bernie, during our wedding weekend. Bernie is reactive, doesn't trust many people, and has only stayed with a select few trusted people in the past (who were all at our wedding), but he LOVES Megan. She went out of her way to understand and accommodate his reactivity, and came a few times before the day to make sure he was comfortable. We got photos throughout her stay of all the play sessions, cuddles and walks Bernie enjoyed- which assured us he was not only well taken care of, but having a great time. Megan is also an all around great human. When our original wedding was cancelled due to Hurricane Helene and we couldn't get in contact with anyone, Megan came to our house to make sure we didn't still need a sitter. I have a severe food allergy that requires we don't bring gluten in the house, and she was respectful and cognizant throughout her stay. If you need a sitter for your pet, I would 1000% recommend Megan. We will definitely be rebooking!”

“Adaira was wonderful! She took great care of my fur babies while I was away. I could tell they were well cared for. I will definitely have her watch them again when I travel. Highly recommend!”

“James is a joy. He took great care of the dogs and our home. We came home to a clean and tidy home. He took care of everything we had asked him to do and would highly recommend him again”

“Hannah is always very quick to respond and provides plenty of pupdates. She makes it easy to relax while on trips because we know our dogs and home are well taken care of.”

“Levon was amazing - one of our dogs is very territorial/aggressive and struggled with others coming into our house. He got acclimated to Levon after just a few walks and Levon stayed at our place for 4 nights while we were out of the country - by the second day he was cuddling up with him. He left our place perfectly clean and gave us regular updates so we weren’t worried at all after the first day. Highly recommend!!!’”

“Our dogs and cats were so happy with Laina. She left our home in great shape after staying with them for 4 nights, and communicated any questions or issues (which were minimal, because our animals are anxious!) quickly and professionally. We will definitely rebook for future petsitting. Thank you, Laina!”

“Natasha was great! Sent lots of photo updates and asked any clarifying questions if anything with our dog Townsend popped up. We are grateful for their patience with Townsend, and for their great care of him!”

About: What sets me apart is my lifelong experience caring for all kinds of dogs and cats, from energetic puppies to senior pets who need extra patience and gentle care. I’m comfortable with large breeds, shy or anxious dogs, and managing multiple pets at once. I’ve also worked on basic puppy training like leash walking and simple commands, so I can reinforce good habits during walks or visits. I’m calm, attentive, and genuinely love spending time with animals, which helps pets feel safe and relaxed while you’re away. I treat every pet like they’re my own, paying close attention to their individual needs, routines, and personalities. I work early mornings at a bakery, so I’m available most afternoons and evenings throughout the week. My schedule can vary slightly, but I’m flexible, easy to reach, and can usually confirm timing at least a day in advance! While doing dog walks and drop-ins, I make sure your pets are safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for, and that all of their needs are met while you’re away. I treat every pet with patience, love, and attention, and I also make sure your home is respected and taken care of during visits. I’m always open to communication, so you can easily get in touch with me while I’m with your pet, and I’m happy to send pictures and updates so you feel reassured and connected the whole time.

“David stayed at my home with my three fur babies - two pupps and a kitty - for 10 days and did an amazing job! I'm a pretty anxious momma and had a bad experience last year on vacation with a pet sitter referred by a friend, so I was nervous about leaving them for an extended time again. And so I couldn't be more thrilled to have found David! He is professional, communicative, grounded, and very experienced. He was in regular communication to let me know about how things were going and sent photos of their adventures. His actions matched his words (dependable) and he kept them to a good routine while I was away. Both of my pupps have a couple different health issues currently, and I felt very confident leaving them with David, who is competent with giving all kinds of medication, and he made sure to update me on any notable changes in their behavior. I have such a sense of relief knowing we have David to rely on in the future, and I'm looking forward to the crew continuing to build their trust/relationship with him, further reducing the anxiety they - and I - experience when I go out of town. 10/10 would recommend David as a trusted caregiver to your furry family.”

“We had a great experience with JoHannah! She was able to spend a lot of time with my 5 pets while we were away. She sent many photos and was quick to respond when we reached out. The house was clean and the pets were calm when we returned from our trip. Would book with her again. Thanks JoHannah!”

About: I have been looking after animals my entire life. I watched pets for neighbors growing up, walking, feeding and administering medicine. I have looked after dogs and cats for friends whenever they go out of town. I currently work weekday mornings, and two days a week I also work afternoons. My morning shifts are 6 hours, so I will have time to check on your fur babies early in the morning, and again around 2pm most days, or until 6pm the other two days. I’m free all day saturdays and sundays! I will follow whatever instructions you leave for me regarding how you’d like me to care for your pet while you’re away. I can administer medicine if necessary, and will give lots of love no matter what!

“Juna was great! She was kind and communicative and sent me photos/updates that kept me at ease while I was away. She took great care of my dog, cats, and house and I would definitely recommend her!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Candler
Mellisa was wonderful with my senior dog who had some special needs. She gave frequently updates and pictures to let me know how he was doing. She thoughtfully brought in the mail and brought the trash dumpster back from the road without being asked to. My dog was well cared for and house in good order when I returned. I would welcome her back again.

Thora took to Kara right away at the meet & greet, and Kara was willing to brave a potential snow and ice storm while we were away. She checked in a couple of times a day with details and photos, and it gave us peace to know that Thora was getting lots of love and play. The house was very tidy when we returned.

This was my second time with Ela and I’m inviting her to sit again next week! She is very easy to communicate with, very wise and intuitive with my animals. She’s clean (leaves everything exactly how I left it) and even washes her bedding which helps me out a lot! I’ve had nearly a hundred sitters over the last few years and she is one of the best. I wish I could take her to California with me when I move back next year!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Candler walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Candler maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Candler choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Candler. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
