“Miranda was an amazing dog sitter and dog walker. She is always available at a moments notice if need be and treated Ernie like he was her own. She has been amazing and would 10/10 definitely recommend her services!”
“I highly recommend Mallory! This was my first time using Rover, and after reaching out to a few sitters, Mallory was one of the first to suggest a meet-and-greet. That immediately gave me confidence that she wanted to make sure she was a good fit for Mufasa. Mufasa is a very timid cat, but when Mallory came over for the first time, he walked right up to her and gave her a sniff, which is rare for him. She stayed in my home for four nights and took great care of his medication, feeding, and litter box routine. It was a huge relief knowing he was in good hands while I was away. Mallory sent daily updates and photos, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. I would absolutely book with her again the next time I travel.”

“Pets (2 cats, 2 dogs) were all well cared for and Cleah got up to speed with all the ‘personality’ from each of the fur-babies. Got lots of check-ins and pics, which was appreciated. Any questions or issues were resolved with a quick text. Overall, very happy with our experience!”

“Kelsey stayed in my home for 7 days to care for my two dogs, a husky and a chihuahua, and I could not have asked for a better experience. She was incredibly reliable and sent frequent updates and photos throughout the day, which made it so easy to relax while I was away. It was clear my dogs were very well cared for. She also left the house clean and tidy, which was so appreciated after returning from vacation. Knowing my dogs were in such good hands allowed me to fully enjoy my trip without worrying about them. I would recommend Kelsey in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive dog sitter.”

“Hannah was wonderful in guiding us through our first Rover experience. We were nervous leaving our two dogs with someone other than family or close friends for the first time and Hannah reassured us every step of the way. She took the best care of our girls and updated us everyday with pictures. It is very apparent Hannah cares for the animals she looks after. She was professional and respectful of our home. We would not hesitate to book Hannah for our future dog sitting needs.”

“5 star plus for Kathleen. We have a selective/unique cockerspaniel who loved her. She provided daily pics and updates keeping us in the know, especially when we were missing him. She left the house in great condition and communicated efficiently with family that was helping out. Thank you, Kathleen. Look forward to booking you again for our next getaway.”

“We were so pleased with Kathy & Chuck. They are truly a dream team for pet and house sitting. Our small, elderly dog seemed completely relaxed and happy with them. We received some photo and video updates when we were away which clearly demonstrated she was enjoying their company. We came home to a tidy home and happy dog. They were very respectful of our home and they were great communicators. Highly recommend! We will be hoping they can come again on our next trip.”

“Louise was wonderful! Regular check-ins and photos were sent, even ones of our dog who wasn't ready to be her friend! The house was exactly as we left it and the dogs were happy!”

About: I’ve had a dog since I was a little girl he recently passed away and I just wanted to get some doggy love without getting another one (my mom won’t let me) but I am reliable and adaptable and would love to help you out with your pets Currently I am unemployed but I am a university student so in September I will be starting up school again so I normally finish around 3 and get back home around 4 so as soon as I’m home I would head over to watch your fur baby’s or if I was in house sitting I would just bus straight to your house I would give them some cuddles make sure there fed and let them out whenever they need to I am not messy and I am quiet so you don’t need to worry about neighbours complaining
“Julia was great! Kai was very nervous at first as he has a lot of separation anxiety, but Julia was very patient with him and kept me updated the entire time! She sent lots of pictures of how happy he was :) I will definitely be rebooking with Julia”

“Cassandra and Mark house and dog sat our two Labradors June 2 - June 7 and I can't say enough good things about them ❤️ Cassandra provided both morning and evening updates with photos and videos of their adventures. They went above and beyond our expectations with care for our dogs, one if which is a senior with medication and exercise needs. In addition to taking excellent care of Duke and Jenny, they also took great care of our home. I came back to a spotless house and well exercised, relaxed pets 👏 If you are looking for someone to take care of your pets and home, I highly recommend Cassandra. I will certainly be asking her to dog sit for us again.”

“Lyne was amazing! She took great care of our dog and cats while we were away. We got lots of updates with pictures. When we came back, the house looked the exact same as we left it! This was our first time leaving our fur babies home on vacation and we very much appreciate the care she gave them and reassurance she gave us. We would definitely book her again!!”

“Michelle took such great care of my dogs while I was away. She kept me updated regularly with photos and messages, which gave me so much peace of mind. She made sure both of my dogs were well cared for, and she paid special attention to Coco, who has IVDD and requires a special diet. Knowing that she followed his routine so carefully meant the world to me. Thank you so much, Michelle, for treating my dogs with so much love and care. I truly appreciate everything you did, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with you again. Highly recommended!”

“Elizabeth and Mike really put us at ease especially where we have a very challenging situation on keeping our two girls separated from each other. They gave us daily updates and left the house like it was and better that what we left it! I cannot recommend them enough nor thank them enough to look after our fur babies while we where on vacation!”

“We have used Holly several times now for house sitting and couldn’t be happier with her service! She genuinely cares for our fur babies and respects our home whenever she stays. She is always sure to send a daily update with some photos from the day or weekend! We will certainly have Holly to care for our pets again.”

“Jacques stay at our house to look after our two golden retrievers, Daisy and Rufus, and our bearded dragon, Spike. He did a wonderful job maintaining the dogs’ comfortable daily routine, and we really appreciated the daily updates that showed how well everyone was doing. When we got home, the dogs were happy, calm, and perfectly themselves— a good sign of the quality care they received. It was so reassuring to know they were in capable hands while we were away. We would absolutely recommend Jacques to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful pet sitter, and would be very happy to have him back again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lower Sackville
We had such a wonderful experience Leanne and truly couldn’t be happier with the care she provided. From the very beginning, she was professional, reliable, and incredibly kind. It was clear right away how much she genuinely cares about animals. While we were away, she kept us updated regularly with messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. Our dogs were not only well cared for, but they were happy, relaxed, and clearly loved while we were gone. She went above and beyond in every way, and it made such a difference knowing they were in such good hands. We came home to two very content pups and a home that was better than we left it. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter—and we will definitely be booking with her again!
I have known Sarah for almost 20 years. We’ve worked together in the past and, even though we don’t see each other often, she is the kind of person you can reconnect with instantly, as the trust and comfort are always there. That alone says a lot about her character. Sarah has always been incredibly honest, responsible, and dependable. Her passion for animals and all living things is truly special, and it shows in the care she provides. I trust her more than anyone outside of my immediate family (and honestly, even more than some of them, haha) to take care of both my home and my dog. Last year, we trusted Sarah to house-sit and care for our dog for over a week, and I genuinely had zero worries while we were away. I knew she would treat our home with the same care and respect as her own, and that our dog would be safe, loved, and well looked after at all times. Our dog, Nova, is five years old and naturally very nervous, especially around other dogs. From the moment they met, Nova absolutely loved Sarah and wouldn’t leave her side. This was incredibly reassuring for us, especially because we had previously had a very negative experience with doggy daycare, which made leaving our dog extremely stressful. Nova is our baby, and I normally feel a lot of anxiety when we’re apart. Sarah completely changed that experience. She sent regular updates and photos every day, which made our vacation so much more enjoyable because we never had to worry about our dog or our home. Seeing the adventures they went on, the exercise Nova got, and the genuine happiness on her face honestly melted our hearts. Nova truly lived her best life while Sarah was caring for her... to the point where I think she was genuinely sad when Sarah left! We absolutely plan on booking Sarah again this year and every time she is available. The peace of mind that comes from knowing your home and your dog are in such capable, loving, and trustworthy hands is truly priceless!! I cannot recommend Sarah highly enough and would trust her without hesitation!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lower Sackville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lower Sackville walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lower Sackville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 75% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
