About: I have had dogs all my life. My last two dogs were rescues that moved three countries with me and were my world. I cared for them from puppies through their golden years. Experienced at dog walking and giving medication and a safe place for your pet to sleep. Have taken care of others dogs in my home while their owners are away as dogs deserve a vacation too, filled with walks in the park to play with other dogs, tail wags, and snuggles at home. From October I shall be working a hybrid job with 3 days in the office and two at home. Depending on the care you are looking for, your dog(s) will be walked in the morning and the evening and for those days I am working at home, there will be extra playtime midday. If you are looking for a long weekend away, I am happy to discuss shifting my schedule (given enough notice) to make sure that a long weekend away works for both you and your pet(s). I provide pet sitting/boarding within my home with meals and walks provided and a safe place for your dog to lay their head. If you are local, I am also happy to provide dog walking services.
“Megan was great! My Wife and I went to our daughter's graduation at Del and needed someone to take care of our 8 month old Siberian Husky, Eva. We are from a long distance away and were worried about who we could trust with Eva. After careful consideration, we decided to ask Megan as she would take Eva in her home, she has a beautiful dog of her own, and she has a good area to take the dogs outdoors. All day long Megan kept us very well update (with pictures) on how Eva was doing. I would definitely recommend Megan to anyone who is looking for a sitter. Also, Megan's dog is awsome! I would offer to take her anytime if Megan needed a sitter if she was in our area. Thank you Megan”

“Ben took such great care of Xena and she seemed like she thoroughly enjoyed her time with him and the dogs! He shared many photos and updates of how Xena was doing and took great consideration for her hunger and ensuring she was safe during the heat of July. Highly recommend!”

“Michelle was a fantastic friend to my dog, and a great sitter. She took him for regular walks, kept me updated throughout the day, and she was very flexible if I was stuck at work and had to adjust my pickup time. She responded very quickly to texts. It was a pleasure to deal with MIchelle and I highly recommend her. Mike”
“Greer was very sweet and took great care of Fluff. She provided us with many updates. I don't think Fluffy even knew we were gone. He made himself right at home lol. I would definitely book with Greer again. She was amazing and we were very grateful to have Fluff in such considerate hands.”

About: I’ve loved animals from a young age and have hands-on experience caring for a variety of pets, including a puppy, several cats, and even fish both as a child and as an adult. This has helped me understand the different needs and behaviors of animals—from energetic dogs to independent cats and the consistency required for maintaining a healthy aquarium. What sets me apart is that I genuinely enjoy spending time with pets and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. I’m patient with puppies and can help reinforce basic routines, and I’m equally comfortable with cats, respecting their space while still giving them attention and care. My experience with fish has also made me detail-oriented when it comes to feeding schedules, cleanliness, and maintaining a stable environment—skills that carry over into all types of pet care. I’m reliable, attentive, and committed to following each pet’s routine closely. I also keep owners updated so they have peace of mind knowing their pets are in good hands. I treat every pet like family and focus on creating a stress-free, happy environment for them. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and make it a priority in my schedule. I plan my day to ensure I have dedicated time for feeding, walks, playtime, and general care, so pets receive consistent attention and are never rushed. I’m comfortable incorporating morning and evening routines, as well as check-ins during the day if needed. Whether it’s taking dogs out for walks, spending time playing, or ensuring cats and other pets are fed and comfortable, I make sure their routine is followed closely. I treat pet care as an important and enjoyable part of my routine, not just an extra task. I provide a safe, calm, and pet-friendly environment in my home where pets can feel comfortable and well cared for. I make sure they have a dedicated space to rest, access to fresh water, and a consistent routine for feeding, playtime, and relaxation. I take time to understand each pet’s habits and preferences so I can follow their normal routine as closely as possible. For dogs, this includes regular walks, playtime, and attention. For cats, I ensure a quiet, comfortable space while also giving them interaction on their terms. I’m also experienced in caring for fish, maintaining feeding schedules and a clean, stable environment. Pets are always supervised, and I focus on creating a stress-free atmosphere where they feel safe and at ease. I keep the home clean and organized and provide updates to owners so they know their pets are happy and in good hands. Overall, I treat every pet like family and make sure they receive consistent care, attention, and comfort throughout their stay.
About: We've recently had to say goodbye to our adored 16 year old Miniature Dachshund and our family of four is seeking to share our home and love with other dogs. I am available to care for your dog during the day as I am not working and our two older children are in school. I am often not away from the house for more than 1 -2 hours at a time and I love spending time outdoors. We live in a pet friendly neighbourhood with sidewalks and easy access to both paved and wooded paths near the lake for lots of walks. While our backyards is not fully fenced, we do have a walkout deck and private grassy and wooded area for play and supervised breaks. We have experience with dogs of all ages, including puppies and senior dogs. I would be excited to learn more about your pet and can tailor my care for their unique needs. I am available 24/7 to care for your pet. I can provide undivided attention to your pup during the day and we can offer lots of attention and play given all family members are dog lovers. Typically, someone is always home and if not, we're only away for 1-2 hours at a time. Your pet will have access to our entire house; however, we also have secure gates available should you wish to resist to the main level. We also have a pet stroller should your dog have any mobility issues.
“Sarah was excellent with our two pups. We were coming in from out of town for the day so couldn’t arrange a meet and greet in advance. Sarah asked all the right questions and our dogs were well cared for all day, and she even graciously accommodated a last minute request to extend their stay. An excellent dog sitter for anyone in Halifax. Thank you so much, Sarah!”

“I can’t express how nervous I was to leave Hosea for the first time ever. Suzie made me feel at ease the moment I met her. I am so very happy with the service provided for my baby. It was a very important day and Suzie came in like a rock star along with her husband. I would highly recommend Suzie to anyone!!”

About: I can provide a loving, structured, safe environment with a focus on positive reinforcement. I have experience with almost every kind of pet, but specialize in canines and kitties. As someone who is home all day, I am able to prioritize with the needs of your pets whether it be old age related health needs or young age related potty needs etc. I have a large partially fenced yard on a green belt. I have a dog line set up for brief outside uses but usually take dogs out in groups several times a day besides walks. For kitties, it is a three level home where cats are free to find their own spot/space. I feed all animals 1 to three times a day on a schedule for the most part. Dogs are allowed on some furniture with permission.
“We were very nervous about leaving our 11 week old puppy for the 1st time with a sitter. I am so happy that we found Sara, she was great with our pup, and we left there feeling very secure with our choice. She sent us an update picture and little note that Maddie had done her business had a drink and was having a great time finding sticks in her garden. Maddie was a happy puppy when we picked her up. I would not hesitate to book with Sara again.”

“Our 14-month old dog, Zola, had the best time with Adrianne and her family. They went to the lake and Zola was tuckered out when we brought her home. I would absolutely book with Adrianne again. Highly recommend!”

About: LGBTQ+ Safe 🥰 I've taken care of dogs and cats my whole life, I had been a Registered Veterinary Technician for 8 years before retiring in 2026 but had branched into my real interest, behaviour in 2022 by starting my own company and focusing on helping owners with their reactive and fearful dogs. I have worked in general practices and emergency medicine so your pet couldn't be in safer hands while with me. My big interests for breeds are German Shepherd Dogs, Dobermans, Malinois, Border Collies, essentially any working or high drive dogs. I've raised Bulldogs, Am Staff's, Rotties and German Shepherds through my life but working on the veterinary side I've worked with everything big and small. I love giant breeds, I've handled everything up to 180 lbs at this point. Though my current dog is a hound mix so I have begun to fall in love with those types of personalities and I do desire a Wire Fox Terrier later in life. I love advocating not only for fearful/anxious dogs but also small breeds who's behaviours are often ignored. My current dog is a rehome to me after biting the baby sitter in his initial home a few weeks after coming to Canada. Since being with me he has a fantastic support system from our primary care vet, our veterinary behaviour consultant, other local dog trainers, and a rehab/fitness specialist to not only manage his chronic pain but his medical management. He is currently on medications but has thrived in training since being with me, he has not been a bite risk while in my care. He loves humans more than anything, wanting to give you kisses and crawl into your skin if you allow him. He loves his dog friends as well, we spend lots of time hiking off leash with other dogs and training with them. Because of this he is also my demo dog for showing other dogs how to be comfortable and confident in the world while also showing things are possible to stressed owners that were where Memphis was in January 2025. My company is Canine Stability and I offer Dog Training, Dangerous Dog Assessments, Behavioural Rehabilitation for dogs with bite histories and severe anxiety and more. I love to focus on reactive and fearful dogs but please check out my Instagram to learn more! Currently my full-time job is my own business so am home during the day while having training sessions in the evenings and weekends. This is why I am now offering boarding for the work day. I am very vigilant about closed doors and gates. My backyard is fully fenced in but dogs are still not left unattended outside or when together. I believe in keeping arousal/stimulation fairly low, we are allowed to play but nothing crazy to avoid miscommunications between dogs and injuries. This doesn't mean they don't get to have structured play, access to a dig pit or other fun games and enrichment during their stay. Being calm and quiet helps with them being more calm and relaxed with the interactions given I am a new face usually. I am always hyper aware on walks or when out of the house with pets, I don't allow strangers to approach or unknown off leash dogs out of utmost precaution. I don't like or go to dog parks for the same reason, just to he on the safe side with unknown dogs/people. I prefer 2 attachments to dogs coming to my home. So I do prefer a collar and harness to be on the dog at time of drop off. Harnesses come off when inside but collars do not as they still stay under my direct supervision.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Lower Sackville commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NS ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
