“Had a great experience. This is the first time I am sending my puppy to a day care and I was bit worried because of his anxiety. But to my surprise he was really happy at Gina’s place and she took extra care of him and he had fun time with other dogs at Gina’s place. Thank you Gina for all the help and taking care of him .Definitely will use your service in future and recommend to my friends also ?.”

About: I’m a 37-year-old work from home professional who genuinely loves dogs and currently has a quiet, pet-free home. After losing my own last year due to old age, I’m not quite ready to have another dog of my own, but I’d love the opportunity to care for yours. Because I don’t have other pets and only accept one household at a time, your dog will receive my full attention in a calm environment. I have experience caring for senior dogs and dogs with medical needs, including administering oral medications. My own dog lived with genetic IVDD, so I understand how important patience, consistency, and gentle handling can be. My goal is to make your dog feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away, and to give you peace of mind through regular updates and photos. I work from home, so I have a flexible schedule and am home throughout the day. This allows me to give your dog plenty of attention and stick to their normal routine. Your dog will be staying in my quiet, 1,400 sq. ft. apartment in Bedford. The building is small, well maintained, and located in a safe neighbourhood right next to a park, making it easy for regular walks and outdoor breaks. I’m on the second floor and right beside the stairwell, so we can head outside quickly without using elevators. I only care for one family’s pets at a time, so your dog will have a calm, comfortable environment during their stay.
“Pam sent me a pic to update me of my boys playing with her westies. Looked like they were having a blast. They were so tuckered out that actually slept in the morning after. I will definitely ask Pam to care for them again.”

“Cookie had a great time with Larissa and always came back tired and relaxed from the fun she had with the other dogs excercising and playing. 100% will rebook with Larissa again in the future! Thank you Larissa!”

About: I have had dogs all my life. My last two dogs were rescues that moved three countries with me and were my world. I cared for them from puppies through their golden years. Experienced at dog walking and giving medication and a safe place for your pet to sleep. Have taken care of others dogs in my home while their owners are away as dogs deserve a vacation too, filled with walks in the park to play with other dogs, tail wags, and snuggles at home. From October I shall be working a hybrid job with 3 days in the office and two at home. Depending on the care you are looking for, your dog(s) will be walked in the morning and the evening and for those days I am working at home, there will be extra playtime midday. If you are looking for a long weekend away, I am happy to discuss shifting my schedule (given enough notice) to make sure that a long weekend away works for both you and your pet(s). I provide pet sitting/boarding within my home with meals and walks provided and a safe place for your dog to lay their head. If you are local, I am also happy to provide dog walking services.
About: I had a 10 year old Sheltie who passed away on December 27th 2024. Since then we have added a puppy to our home. It would be nice to have a playmate for her during the day. I would love to continue dog sitting for those who need a sitter during the day or on specific weekends. I have cat as well who gets along with dogs. I work from home every day and will be able to take your dog for walks throughout the day. A small to medium size dog is preferable with a mild temperament. I’m available to dog sit anytime during the week between 7 am and 7 pm. A drop off between these time is preferable along with a meal if required. Treats are provided . 😀 I live in a townhouse with a small backyard however I do 2 walks for at least 20 minutes each walk. To keep an eye on your dog I will be on the same floor of the house during sitting hours.
“Megan was great! My Wife and I went to our daughter's graduation at Del and needed someone to take care of our 8 month old Siberian Husky, Eva. We are from a long distance away and were worried about who we could trust with Eva. After careful consideration, we decided to ask Megan as she would take Eva in her home, she has a beautiful dog of her own, and she has a good area to take the dogs outdoors. All day long Megan kept us very well update (with pictures) on how Eva was doing. I would definitely recommend Megan to anyone who is looking for a sitter. Also, Megan's dog is awsome! I would offer to take her anytime if Megan needed a sitter if she was in our area. Thank you Megan”

“Natalia was amazing with my dog, Robin, who takes a while to warm up and can be very nervous bc of her past. Natalia was communicative all day, and spoiled Robin, who looked so happy in the photos I received. She has a calm, intentional presence and I knew Robin was in good hands. I highly recommend her.”

About: I've had loads of pet experience over the years, from early childhood to present day. I grew up in a rural setting where there were always animals around...farm animals such as chickens, pigs and turkeys. As for house pets, I've had MANY...several dogs over the years, too many cats to count, rabbits and hamsters. In my younger years I had a Poodle, a Samoyed, a Beagle and Cocker Spaniel. As for cats, well...let's just say our family was crazy for cats...I remember at one point in my youth, I had 10 at once! Later in life my husband and I had two Maincoons (Missy and Buster) who were literally the loves of our lives. We still miss them terribly and always think about them. In my 20s I worked at a pet store, where I also took care of the animals there (cats, dogs, hamsters, birds and fish). In my 30s I worked as a dog walker, which was very rewarding and so, so much fun. I would walk and care for three to six on any given day. I would pick them all up at each of their homes, each taking their preferred seat in my Jeep (the smallest one always insisting she sit in the front seat) and head out on our adventures for the day! These days I have several dogs in my orbit that belong to family members and friends. We have one in particular that we care for in our home periodically for our friends...Gordon the golden doodle, a.k.a. our nephew. All that being said I feel that I have a lot of experience and love to offer your fur babies, along with an endless supply of hugs, snuggles and kisses! Halifax is my permanent home but commute out of province for work. I am home for roughly half of the month, days vary but on average I'm home anywhere from 13-18 days a month and usually anywhere from 6-13 days at a time. I do get my schedule one month in advance on the 25th of each month, at which point I would update my calendar. I currently care for a friends dog periodically when they are away for a few days or sometimes longer. He has the run of the house, not crated and sleeps with us...not spoiled at all. We of course take him on walks and have play time...all the time.
“Gavin and Alex were so easy to deal with and took great care of my little Sammy. Their communication was quick and they kept me updated on how he was doing with them. They clearly love animals as Sammy took to them quickly! The second day he was jumping at their door to get in! 5 star service for sure. I would not hesitate to book with them again!”

“Gail looked after our puppy Ernie during the day for a month and it went exceptionally well. Ernie was so well looked after, taken on walks, taken to the park and given lots of love. Her daily report cards were detailed and greatly appreciated. I can't thank Gail enough, she took incredible care of our little guy. I would highly recommend her, I know I will be booking her again anytime I need some doggy daycare!”

“Louise was fantastic. Our babies got to run around in a secure yard and wore themselves right. They were fed and loved like crazy. We will definitely be getting her again. Thank you so much.”

“Ben watched our mini schnoodle Nala for the day so we could go be tourists. He was great with her. He sent lots of photos and she got a big morning walk. Thanks so much! Highly recommend.”

Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Lower Sackville commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NS ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
