“My dog Rupert had a wonderful time staying with Renita, I couldn’t recommend her more! She asked very thoughtful questions about his needs and preferences which demonstrated great knowledge and comfort working with dogs of all kinds! But most of all I could tell that Rupert was very well loved. This was in the way she spoke about and interacted with him — he was instantly comfortable in her care. I loved that Renita provided photo updates throughout the day so that we could stay in contact and I never felt that far away. Will rebook in a heartbeat 💗🐶”

“Ollie had a wonderful stay with Claire! Personally I loved all the communication and photos. Thank you Claire for letting us enjoy our getaway knowing Ollie was well taken care of!”

“So happy with the care my Jax got with Giulia. He got along well with 2 of the other dogs at her place. When he was unsure about another dog, she had plenty of space to keep them separate. Easy to get updates and pictures from her. Will definitely use her again!”

“Trish is the best sitter we've ever had! We boarded Krypto for 3 days which became 4 due to unforeseen circumstances and Trish was lovely about everything. She treated Krypto like family and is our goto now. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend her services”

“Pamela is a kind and caring dog lover. My older dog Coco was well loved, I was given regular updates and pictures. Pamela was always quick to respond. I would definitely recommend Pamela to anyone wanting a reliable dog loving pet sitter.”

“Margaret did a great job caring for our Artie. She gave us updates on how he was doing and photos. Margaret was friendly and very accommodating. Artie was happy and energetic when we picked him up. We would happily have Margaret mind Artie again and recommend her to others.”

“Our little, senior dog, Lily, was well cared for, happy and content staying with Ryan. He understood her limitations but still took her on her much loved walks. He was very caring and loving towards her.”

“David and Emma were fantastic with our dog, Stanley. He has quite a few quirky routines and specific needs, and they took excellent care of him and followed everything perfectly. They truly went above and beyond to make sure he was happy and well cared for. I wouldn’t hesitate to have them look after Stanley again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter.”

“Rebecca took great care of Nash during his stay and was very flexible and accommodating for some of his extra needs following dental surgery. It is clear that Nash got lots of exercise and was well loved during his stay. We would highly recommend Rebecca and her family :)”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs from playful pup to senior dog with multiple needs. We have boarded dogs for weekends or monthly trips. I send along dog photos of the places we go and people we meet. We have two teenage boys at home that love having a companion. We had a mixed breed dog for 15 years, while I miss her terribly I think having some dogs in our lives would be amazing! I am always up for a walk, play or cuddle. I have experience with bathing, taken obedience classes and dispensing medication. I work mostly from home and have a quiet fall and winter schedule so would be around for the duration of the visit. Your pup will be part of the family! If they like car rides we are the people for that or snuggles on the couch with a good book. Your dog would be well cared for! Yours would be the only dog at our house and have our undivided attention . We have a large yard for quick trips outside on leash and close to parks and trails for longer walks. Depending on the activity level they can even sun bathe on the back deck!
“Our wee Fig just spent an amazing week with Carolina and her dog, Arthur, at their house. From the instant we met Carolina we were certain Fig was in for a week of being loved, receiving the highest standard of care, snuggles, walks and other cool adventures. While we were away, Carolina sent us lots of adorable pictures and updates about how Fig was doing. There wasn’t one moment during our time away that we worried about Fig’s happiness or health. Fig is a pup with some gastrointestinal issues and Carolina was a pro at administering her meds, and making sure Fig’s food was soaked in boiled water so it was perfectly “mushy”, just the way our vet said it needed to be (gross). We are grateful beyond words. We will book Carolina again and again. If we could giver her 20 stars, we would.”

“Megan is the best! Our big dog George has an amazing time there with their dog, Sunny. We’ve had multiple stays now and it’s always a good experience, we get lots of photos and we feel like they love George like their own!”

“Rob was super friendly and responsive, coordinating the meet & greet and booking was a breeze. He was very accommodating for our Kaya girl and we would definitely book with him again!”

About: Lifelong dog lover and proud dog mom to my Australian Shepherd, Pepper 🐾 My home is calm, cozy, and very dog-friendly. I work from home, so your pup will get plenty of attention, supervision, and companionship throughout the day—no long hours alone. I’m experienced with daily routines, walks, playtime, and making sure each dog feels comfortable and cared for. I’m happy to care for puppies (with all the patience and consistency they need!) as well as senior dogs who may need a gentler, more relaxed approach. Whether your dog is energetic and playful or prefers to cuddle and relax, I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved, and right at home. I work from home most days, which allows me to give pets lots of attention and keep a consistent routine. I’m home Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and weekends, so your pet will have plenty of company throughout the day. On Wednesdays, I’m in the office, but I’m located very close to home and can easily come back for check-ins, walks, and care as needed. Overall, I have a flexible schedule and can adapt to your pet’s routine to make sure they’re comfortable, well cared for, and never left alone for long. Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I live in a pet-friendly apartment on the main floor, which means quick and easy access to the outdoors for bathroom breaks and walks—no long waits or elevators needed. We’re also located near great off-leash parks and walking areas, perfect for getting in lots of exercise and fresh air (always based on your comfort level and your dog’s needs). Inside, my home is clean, calm, and set up to be a safe, cozy environment where your dog can relax and feel at home. I’m attentive, responsible, and always mindful of each dog’s routine, safety, and well-being.
“Liefe, Eliza and Kiran were great and I had no issues. Basil stayed with them for two weeks and I felt she would have gotten lots of love and attention. They responded in a timely manner when we were scheduling dropping her off and picking her up and let me know when there were issues. I would book with them again.”

David and Emma were fantastic with our dog, Stanley. He has quite a few quirky routines and specific needs, and they took excellent care of him and followed everything perfectly. I wouldn’t hesitate to have them look after Stanley again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter.

We had a wonderful experience with Amanda. My dog has a tendency to do marking inside the house, and she handled the situation with so much patience, understanding, and care. She made sure he was always safe, comfortable, and truly happy during his stay. What I really appreciated was how knowledgeable she is, she even gave me helpful advice on how to better manage this behavior in the future. She and her partner are a very kind and experienced couple, and it truly shows in how they care for dogs. I would highly recommend Amanda to anyone who wants to leave their dog and not have to worry at all while they are away. When I picked my dog up, he was actually missing her, which says everything about how well he was treated.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
