About: I've grown up caring for dogs, both adults and seniors! I enjoy walking them, taking them to the dog park, and have experience giving baths and medications. I've also volunteered with a dog rescue organization at adoption events (with puppies and adult dogs) and transporting dogs to vet appointments! I'm a graduate student so I will have some free time in the evenings and weekends to care for your pet! I can also plan to take some time during the morning and/or afternoon to walk or watch your pet given a couple of days notice. I will be able to care for your pet in your home. I can give any food and/or medications if needed, let them outside and/or take them for a walk, and play and cuddle of course! I would like to tailor my care for you and your pets' needs, so I'd be happy to help in any way I can!
“Jasper loves his new friend! From the first time he met Lori he was a happy boy. So grateful that Lori is willing to hang out with our sweet gentle giant. Great communication and loads of pictures. He was still ready for a snooze even after we arrived home.”

“Loren was very sweet and took good care of my kitty while I was away on a trip! Loki seemed to be happy upon my return! She was very responsive, gave good updates and spent quality time with Loki, making sure he had his daily brushing and treats! I would recommend Loren!”

“Tamanna and Pramond M. were both a delight to work with. Their care and love for their own cats was evident in how they took care of mine. I would definitely book them again!”

“Daryl is fantastic! He cared for our cat while we were away on our first big vacation after adopting our cat. Daryl is very quick to respond and thoughtful. We greatly appreciate the amazing care he took of our girl. We can't recommend him enough!”

About: My friends, family and neighbours have trusted me with sitting, feeding, walking and caring for animals throughout my whole life. I also have experience caring for senior dogs. I am currently working a part time job so I have lots of time to spend with your animals!! However I prefer to board on weekends. I do have green space around my home (unfenced) as well as a park very close by so your pups can experience lots of time outside!
“This was my second time booking with Hayley and Lucy, and once again it was a great experience! They took wonderful care of my babies, followed all of my care instructions, and provided lots of pictures and detailed updates throughout the stay. Knowing they were so well cared for gave me real peace of mind while I was away. I would absolutely recommend Hayley and Lucy to anyone looking for reliable and caring pet sitters, and I will definitely book with them again!”

About: I have experience in training dogs as well as pet-sitting. Feel free to let me know anything adjustments or accommodations you pet needs that would make them more comfortable and happy! I am currently working part-time at a research lab with Dalhousie and spend a lot of extra time in Downtown Halifax, and I would love to be able to fill that extra time hanging out with animals! I have my own dog that can join your pet on a walk or for play-time if that is something you would like. I also know plenty of pet-friendly cafes and areas that would be fun for any pet to visit!
“Sophie is top notch!!! She takes such good care of our kitty! Sends us tons of pics, plays with her feeds her. Treats her like her own cat. No matter if we are gone two days it 7 days our cat is always a happy cat when we return. Cannot recommend her highly enough!”

“Rhiannon took such great care of our dog and cat while we were away! I will absolutely be asking for her help again. She was very communicative and responsive which gave us peace of mind. I could tell from the pictures and videos we got that the pets really trusted her and enjoyed their time together. She really went above and beyond to make sure they were happy and safe. I would highly recommend Rhiannon to anyone and am so appreciative of her help.”

“We are very thankful that Emily was able to stop in and take our puppy Pico out for a bit. We were hesitant as we have had mixed experiences in the past but felt very good knowing Pico was in Emily’s hands. Definitely recommend and will have her back for sure.”

“Taylor took great care of my three cats when I was away! Aside from the basics (food & water), she kept the litter boxes tidy and played with them every day. I came home to three happy cats. I would gladly ask Taylor to take care of my cats again. Thank you!”
About: I’ve always grown up with labs and many cats. I’ve trained our family puppies, administered oral/topical medications for sick and recovering pets, and have helped raise kittens from birth (with their mama around). I’ve cared for dogs from family members, friends, and coworkers. I’m comfortable with sleepovers or just to keep fluffy buddies company when home alone. I have a chronic illness that keeps me from working full time so most of my time is spent at home or out for leisurely exercise. I’m very flexible and adjustable to fit you and your pets schedule. I always consider my health when accepting jobs so I can assure that your buddies will get the quality care they need. I’m a cuddly person and love to make pets feel happy and relaxed. I’ll make sure any training, eating, and potty breaks are aligned with their normal schedules. Daily journals will be kept so that you know exactly how your pets day went. If caring for ill/disabled pets, I can also record medication times and detailed food/bathroom reports. Most assuredly, I will always promote play and fun!
“Dakota was great. Did an excellent job taking care of our two cats while we were on vacation. He sent pictures and notes everyday about how they were doing, which was very reassuring while away.”

About: Pets have always been a huge part of my life, and I’ve been caring for them for over 8 years through dog walking, pet sitting, and helping friends, family, and neighbours. Whether your dog loves long walks, playing, or just having someone to keep them company, I’ll make sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, and affection. I know leaving your pet with someone else is a big decision, so I’ll always care for them as if they were my own and keep you updated with lots of photos along the way! Caring for pets fits easily into my weekly routine. I enjoy being active and spending time outdoors, so dog walks are something I genuinely look forward to. I prioritize being reliable, punctual, and making sure every pet receives plenty of exercise, attention, and love while their owner is away. I believe pets are happiest when they can stay in the comfort of their own home and follow their usual routine. I’ll carefully follow all of your instructions, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and any special requests. I’ll make sure your pet gets plenty of love, attention, and exercise while also respecting your home by keeping it clean, secure, and exactly as I found it. I’ll also provide regular updates and photos, so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is happy and well cared for.
About: **WILLING TO PROVIDE SERVICES ANYWHERE IN THE SOUTH/NORTH END, WITH MORE FLEXIBILITY FOR HOME STAYS I realized recently that I am the default pet sitter for my friends. Hopefully, I'll become a default for you as well! Whether it is a dog, cat, or hedgehog, I am always happy to look after a little family member. I grew up in a family full of animal lovers, and that is a trait I have as well! Over the past few years, I've been responsible for weekly care for a dog from 8 weeks old (he's 3 now!). I have a variety of experience looking after dogs big and small, young and old. In my spare time, I volunteer with Elder dog walking many different dogs for seniors in the HRM. These dogs have a variety of needs and interests, but I always try to make their day the best! I've cared for cats of all ages (and personalities). I'm a graduate student with the option of remote work. As a result, my schedule is flexible. I have a few consistent commitments throughout the week, but am happy to work with you to figure something out :) When looking after your dog, I want to be sure I know everything there is to know. What toys are their favourite, do they take medication, and how much food do they get? For walks, it is important to me that they have the appropriate gear to keep them safe (like a harness and a light if it is night). I'll treat your baby like my own, and I promise I'll keep them safe! I have a flexible schedule as a grad student working in research roles. Taking dogs for walks is a great add-on to my day as fits wonderfully with my active lifestyle. I will not offer services in my own home. In your home, I will discuss the location of all necessary items, if areas are off limits, and who to contact for an emergency. I will be sure to understand your dogs' needs and your rules.

“Thank you Courtney! It was comforting and reassuring to know that Kitty was left in good hands and being taken care of in our absence. Courtney, you did a great job! Thank you!!”

“Jaiden is a wonderful sitter who prioritizes clear, responsive communication to let you know that she has your pets' care front and center. One of our two cats is elderly and has myriad issues, so we have to leave any sitter with finicky instructions, and after interacting with Jaiden we have all the confidence that she's looking at every piece. Whenever we've had changes of plans Jaiden has also been so understanding and accommodating.”

“Gina looked after my tabby cat with recurring outdoor visits. I am very pleased with her service and recommend her service for your little furry friends. She is very friendly, great to communicate with and very responsive. Also, she made our bookings and schedule very flexible and easy to accomodate our needs. Thanks Gina for your service.”
About: I have over 10 years of experience working with dogs of diverse breeds, ages, behaviours, and care needs. In addition to growing up with family dogs my entire life, I have 6 years of volunteer experience with dog rescue associations. Through this work, I have fostered over 10 dogs in my own home, with stays ranging from just a few days to my longest foster stay of 7 months. Alongside fostering, I have also volunteered walking, socializing, and caring for countless other rescue dogs. I also hold a certificate from the Association for Animal Welfare Development, earned through completing coursework focused on introducing dogs to new environments, people, and other dogs in safe and positive ways. Through my volunteer experience, I have communicated with dog behaviourists, veterinarians, and adopters to help support the best possible outcomes for each dog. Over the years, I have cared for dogs with a wide range of behavioural and medical needs. I have experience administering medication, supporting nervous or high-energy dogs, creating safe introductions, and adapting routines to fit each dog’s individual personality and needs. I am confident handling unexpected situations and always prioritize creating a calm, safe, and positive environment for pets. In addition to my extensive volunteer experience, I have also cared for dogs as an official sitter and have experience following detailed care instructions while caring for dogs both in their own homes and in mine. I pride myself on having strong communication skills and understanding that dogs are truly members of the family. Through my volunteer experience, I have learned the importance of transparency, consistency, and trust when it comes to caring for someone else’s pet, and I believe clear communication is extremely important in ensuring the safest and happiest experience possible for your dog. I have a genuine love and connection with dogs, and truly believe that the time spent caring for them is always mutually rewarding. I will always be the primary caretaker of your dog. My partner, Alisdair, is also an approved sitter on my Rover profile, as he may occasionally join me for walks simply for company. He has several years of experience fostering and caring for dogs alongside me, and we wanted to ensure he was officially approved through Rover for transparency and safety. Your dog’s comfort will always come first, and Alisdair will never accompany me if your dog is uncomfortable around men or if you simply prefer that I provide care independently. Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine and schedule. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate consistent time and attention to walks, feedings, playtime, and check-ins throughout the day. Having fostered and cared for dogs with a wide range of needs over the years, I am very used to structuring my routine around an animal’s care, comfort, and consistency. I also enjoy staying active through walks and outdoor time, so incorporating pet care into my day is something I genuinely enjoy When caring for pets in a client’s home, I closely follow all instructions regarding feeding schedules, walks, medications, crate routines, training expectations, and household rules to help maintain consistency and reduce stress for the pet while their owner is away. In addition to caring for pets, I take pride in being respectful, clean, and trustworthy in others’ homes.

Cassie was a wonderful sitter to my 17 year old cat! She went above & beyond providing daily updates & photos. I felt very at ease leaving him for the week knowing that he was in her hands. Would recommend Cassie to anyone & will definately rebook with her again 😻

Lucy did such an amazing job caring for Phoebe and Penny while we were away! She was wonderful with them and gave us such peace of mind knowing they were in good hands. We came home to two happy kitties! We’ll definitely be having Lucy back again. Highly recommend!

Yeha went above and beyond to provide excellent care for my 17 year old senior cat, Bella while I was away for a short work trip. She provided very detailed descriptions of each visit which made me feel confident that Bella was getting very detailed care, including administering her medication. I always felt assured from her updates and the attached photos showed how all of my kitties really liked her energy and were happy to see her! We will certainly hope to book Yeha again in the future!

Zoe took care of my senior cat, Vera, and it was a good experience all around! She was communicative and great with Vera, who can be a bit slow to warm up. Vera took to her immediately and it gave me peace of mind to know she was well cared for while I was away. Zoe asked lots of questions when we first met up to make sure she fully understood Vera's needs, likes and dislikes. I will definitely book again!

Bianca was so amazing! She dropped in to check on our kitty each day, sent such great updates and photos after each visit, and was just overall so easy to communicate with. Felt completely at ease knowing she was stopping by to check in on our boy, as well as keep him company, refill water, and play with him each day. Don't hesitate to book her!

If I could give Shana 10 stars I would. She is the best, she is so understanding and compassionate when it comes to your pets care. She knows how to make a person feel so comfortable in leaving their pet in her care. Our cat Tukker is my wife’s fur baby and is very particular about who takes care of him while we are away, and knowing that Shana is their for Tukker makes her feel so relaxed that she can enjoy her vacation time, without any worries. Thanks Shana you are the best, and we can’t say enough great things about you. She is an animal person and a people person and understands everyone’s needs. You are in Professional hands when she is taking care of your pet. I highly recommend her.

Whether you’re planning ahead for holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day coverage for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.
Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or travelling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer poop breaks during a Halifax stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover based on what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.
You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Halifax choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
