“Jocelyn is awesome! She responded to my last min request, and the whole experience was smooth. She went above and beyond exercising Emma and walking extra miles! I hope she will be available to take care of Emma again. I highly recommend Jocelyn!”

“I'm currently away from home for a couple of months, leaving my spouse and our 6 month old Dachsund puppy, Noodle, so you can imagine my anxiety! Anyone who knows Dachshunds knows they're wild, energetic and stubborn, but Lucy handled him expertly, even bringing her own harness when we mentioned we were having trouble finding one that fit him! She was attacked with kisses (they have 0 awareness of personal space) and I was AMAZED at the speed she got that harness on, seeing as it's usually a two person job on the best of days. Lucy sent pictures and was so great with Noodle, he slept all afternoon afterwards, and I can tell you, the peace of mind is everything to me. Thank you Lucy!”

About: I've been caring for dogs since I was 15 and have experience with dogs of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I grew up with two Dachshunds, who are now 15 years old and live with my father. Caring for them taught me the patience and attention that senior dogs need. Whether it's walks, feeding, playtime, medications if needed, or plenty of love and companionship, I'll follow your dog's routine to help them feel safe, comfortable, and happy while you're away I currently work part-time on Mondays, Wednesdays, and the occasional Thursday or Friday. On my days off, I'm fully available to provide your pet with the time, attention, and care they deserve. I'm happy to accommodate walks, drop-in visits, or pet sitting, and I'll always communicate my availability clearly so you know your pet is in reliable, caring hands I understand how important it is to know your pet and home are in good hands. I'll follow your instructions closely, care for your pet as if they were my own, and treat your home with respect. You'll receive regular updates so you can enjoy your time away without worrying.
About: I grew up in a house full of cats and dogs, which no doubt fostered my love for animals. I have been the go-to pet sitter for family, friends, and neighbors for over 10 years. I am experienced in caring for pets through all life stages, including administering medication to senior pets and entertaining puppies and kittens. Whether your pet needs feeding, walking, or just a little extra TLC, I am up for the job! I'm currently working part-time, so I'll have plenty of time to take care of your pets. I also have a flexible schedule, which will allow me to make sure your pet receives plenty of attention and care whenever you need! I understand that every pet has different needs, so I will tailor my services accordingly. You can count on me to be resposible and treat your home and pets with respect. I will follow your instructions carefully and make sure your pets are safe, comfortable, and happy. I will treat your pet like my own!
About: My friends, family and neighbours have trusted me with sitting, feeding, walking and caring for animals throughout my whole life. I also have experience caring for senior dogs. I am currently working a part time job so I have lots of time to spend with your animals!! However I prefer to board on weekends. I do have green space around my home (unfenced) as well as a park very close by so your pups can experience lots of time outside!
“Great communication! Rhiannon did not seem at all put off by my 60+ pound furballs sometime reactivity issues, or by my 3+ page instruction/notes. I do not like leaving my creatures with people that aren’t me, but this is a comfortable fit for us.”

“Ronan seems to really taken to Michelle and she does a great job I’m looking after him before during and after the walk. I do recommend Michelle to others and we will continue to use her in the future.”

“Jaime was great with walking my dog! She answered promptly, was great at communicating including letting me know when she picked up her and feedback on the walk itself. Will be hiring her again!”

“Kate was a fabulous dog walker! I booked recurring walks for nearly 5 months and my expectations were definitely surpassed. Kate was extremely friendly, accountable and accommodating. I would definitely re-book or recommend Kate’s services to others in the future!”

About: I've shared my home with Scottish Terriers continuously since 2005, often two or three at once, which gave me a deep grounding in a notoriously stubborn, independent breed — but I'm happy to walk or sit any dog over 14 lbs. My current companion Frasier is 11, so I'm well versed in senior dog care, including recognizing changes in mobility, appetite, and energy that come with age. Years of managing multiple strong-willed terriers at once has made me patient, consistent, and quick to read a dog's mood, whatever the breed. I treat every companion in my care the way I treat my own. I'm currently between roles and conducting an active job search, which means I have a flexible daily schedule with plenty of time for walks, drop-ins, and companionship. I'm generally available throughout the day on weekdays and weekends alike, so scheduling around your pet's routine — rather than mine — is easy. As my situation changes I'll keep my availability updated, but for now I have significant time to devote to your dog's care. I live in an apartment with my partner and our 11-year-old Scottish Terrier, Frasier, who is friendly and well socialized with other dogs. There's no private yard, so walks and bathroom breaks happen on leash in the neighborhood, and I'm attentive to leash manners and safe street awareness at all times. I can crate a dog if needed, though I'm equally comfortable with supervised free time in the apartment. Your dog will always have a calm, clean, secure space and full attention while in my care.
“Steph is incredible. She is very punctual and communicative. She has done check ups and feedings while I was away for a few days and I feel she genuinely cares for my dog. Highly recommended”

About: Hi, we’re Hayley and Lucy! We recently moved to Halifax and are offering pet care in HRM. We are proud pet parents to our two cats, Waluigi and Tiggy. We have almost 20 years of combined experience caring for pets, including cats, dogs, and small animals. Between us, we have extensive experience with feeding, administering medications, cleaning litter boxes and cages, and making sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. We’ve lived with cats, rabbits, hamsters, and birds, giving us hands-on experience with a wide range of pet needs, routines, and personalities. Originally from Ontario, we understand what it’s like to not always have a large support system nearby when you need a helping hand. We hope to make life easier for pet parents by providing reliable and compassionate pet care support, whether that means checking in on your pets while you’re away, caring for your pets during vacations, or helping with dog walks while you’re at work! Between the two of us we have lots of flexibility to accommodate different routines. We have a car and can come to you on weekdays and weekends. Open availability on Fridays and weekends and available for walks and check-ins through Monday-Thursday in the mornings and evenings. We’re comfortable adapting to the pets needs and making them feel the most safe and comfortable by treating their space with respect and following their lead. We’re used to meeting and building rapport with new animals regularly and like to adjust our care based on owner/caretaker comments and instructions and the pets energy levels and demeanour.

I couldn’t be happier with the care my dog received! Jillian was reliable, communicative, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. I received updates and photos after each walk, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. My dog came home happy, tired, and excited to see her again each visit. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable and caring dog walker!

Rhea is responsible and my dog likes her very much and goes off with her happily. Rhea is exceptional in that she does not count the minutes and seconds of her time with the dog and if my dog is not quite ready to come back in, she will accomodate. I recommend her without any qualms whatsoever.
Libby was a joy to coordinate with for dog-walking! She was on time and highly communicative, and was patient when Caid had moments of reluctance in leaving the house. He came back nice and tired out from a good walk, and it seems like they developed a great bond. I highly recommend Libby's services :)

Wren is wonderful. Lola, our dog connected with her immediately. One can tell Wren loves animals. Wren is great with communicating with me about Lola’s walks and our dog walking schedule. This is the first time I’ve used this app to find a dog walker. I highly recommend this app and very much Wren.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Halifax choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 82% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
