“I'm currently away from home for a couple of months, leaving my spouse and our 6 month old Dachsund puppy, Noodle, so you can imagine my anxiety! Anyone who knows Dachshunds knows they're wild, energetic and stubborn, but Lucy handled him expertly, even bringing her own harness when we mentioned we were having trouble finding one that fit him! She was attacked with kisses (they have 0 awareness of personal space) and I was AMAZED at the speed she got that harness on, seeing as it's usually a two person job on the best of days. Lucy sent pictures and was so great with Noodle, he slept all afternoon afterwards, and I can tell you, the peace of mind is everything to me. Thank you Lucy!”

“Ronan seems to really taken to Michelle and she does a great job I’m looking after him before during and after the walk. I do recommend Michelle to others and we will continue to use her in the future.”

“Jaime was great with walking my dog! She answered promptly, was great at communicating including letting me know when she picked up her and feedback on the walk itself. Will be hiring her again!”

About: I've lived with cats and dogs for most part of my life and they are the big reason I got into pet care. About: Hi, we’re Hayley and Lucy! We recently moved to Halifax and are offering pet care in HRM. We are proud pet parents to our two cats, Waluigi and Tiggy. We have almost 20 years of combined experience caring for pets, including cats, dogs, and small animals. Between us, we have extensive experience with feeding, administering medications, cleaning litter boxes and cages, and making sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. We’ve lived with cats, rabbits, hamsters, and birds, giving us hands-on experience with a wide range of pet needs, routines, and personalities. Originally from Ontario, we understand what it’s like to not always have a large support system nearby when you need a helping hand. We hope to make life easier for pet parents by providing reliable and compassionate pet care support, whether that means checking in on your pets while you’re away, caring for your pets during vacations, or helping with dog walks while you’re at work! Between the two of us we have lots of flexibility to accommodate different routines. We have a car and can come to you on weekdays and weekends. Open availability on Fridays and weekends and available for walks and check-ins through Monday-Thursday in the mornings and evenings. We’re comfortable adapting to the pets needs and making them feel the most safe and comfortable by treating their space with respect and following their lead. We’re used to meeting and building rapport with new animals regularly and like to adjust our care based on owner/caretaker comments and instructions and the pets energy levels and demeanour.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Halifax
I couldn’t be happier with the care my dog received! Jillian was reliable, communicative, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. I received updates and photos after each walk, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. My dog came home happy, tired, and excited to see her again each visit. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable and caring dog walker!

Rhea is responsible and my dog likes her very much and goes off with her happily. Rhea is exceptional in that she does not count the minutes and seconds of her time with the dog and if my dog is not quite ready to come back in, she will accomodate. I recommend her without any qualms whatsoever.
Libby was a joy to coordinate with for dog-walking! She was on time and highly communicative, and was patient when Caid had moments of reluctance in leaving the house. He came back nice and tired out from a good walk, and it seems like they developed a great bond. I highly recommend Libby's services :)

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Halifax choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find walkers who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 100% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 83% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
