“I can’t say enough good things about Vitoria! She was amazing with our two dogs and three cats and we came home to a house of well cared for and loved pets. She went above and beyond around our house and made our transition home incredibly smooth. Would recommend her to anyone!!”

“Jenna provided great care for our girl and sent updates and pictures to let us know how she was doing! I felt my dog was in good hands while I was gone, and my dog was very happy to stay with her.”

“Neeru did a great job with my two busy huskies, one of which has way too much energy. That was for three weeks too. My home was well looked after, laundry done, a broken jug replaced, vacuumed and plants water. On my busy boy’s birthday, Neeru gave him treats and a new toy as a gift. We would love to have Neeru back next time.”

About: I’ve grown up around animals my whole life and have experience caring for pets of all ages, from young puppies to senior animals. I’ve owned and cared for dogs, bunnies, chickens, and geese, so I’m comfortable with different personalities and needs. I’ve also worked alongside dog trainers with my own dogs, which has helped me learn more about handling, behaviour, and building trust with animals. I’m patient, reliable, and genuinely enjoy spending time with pets and making sure they feel safe and comfortable. Pet care fits really naturally into my routine since I genuinely enjoy being around animals. I work part-time at Roots, so I have plenty of time throughout the week for walks, check-ins, playtime, feeding, or overnight care. I’m reliable with routines and happy to work around your pet’s schedule to keep them comfortable and cared for. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I do my best to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I make sure they’re fed on schedule, get plenty of attention, exercise, playtime, and any other care they’re used to. I’m respectful of your home, reliable, and focused on making your pets feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I also make sure to keep owners updated with messages and photos so you know your pets are doing well.
About: Hi, This is Kavya. I have a 3 year old female corgi named Lexi and I absolutely love her. Our dog is well trained and very well behaved with other dogs and cats. We have a spacious detached house with a beautiful fenced backyard. We also have a huge park in about 100meters from our house. We usually let our dog play in the backyard for sometime and I play fetch with her in Summer time same goes for the dogs we board. I had a rabbit and a parrot for more than 9 years back home. I love playing and spending quality time with the animals. Feel free to share your dog’s preferences and interests with me, and I will do my best to provide them with right living environment and daily activities. All members of my family love animals and enjoy playing with them! My husband and I work from home, and our schedules are quite flexible. We will be with your furry companion 24 hours a day. We will give them lots of petting, cuddles and love. The experience and the care will both be the same even if I go to the pet owners’s house or I am boarding the pet at my place. We will spend quality time with the pets and follow the schedule given by the pet owners for the potty breaks and feeding. I will provide you with lots of daily updates including photos and videos of your pet. If you prefer not to receive updates, please let me know 😉

“Katryna was a wonderful dog, cat, and house sitter! We were very grateful to have her through an emergency flooding event, where she called in her family to support and managed our neighbours and families coming to help as well. She took wonderful care of our animals during regular circumstances and went above and beyond to support in an emergency. 100% will be hoping to book Katryna again.”

“It was an absolute pleasure to have Mélanie house and pet sit our two pups - an Irish Doodle and a Maltese. From the time we had our initial meet and great, we felt extremely confident about leaving our house and pets in her care. She kept us up to date with wonderful pictures and reports - both of which were comforting while on our trip. Upon our return the house was perfectly clean and our dogs were so very happy. Mélanie even took the time to water our plants both inside and out. Definitely a 10/10 rating for service. We were so pleased with her visit that we have already booked our future trip!”

About: Ive taken care of dogs on and off for 7 years along with my own. I can administer medication, play, walk, feed and enjoy the company of a mans best friend. I do pet care every day because i have a dog and cat of my own. Im a university student and work part time. Im only in class for the morning on Tuesdays and all day on Thursdays. My work is usually only 4-6 hours in the winter and more busy in the summer. I’m a very patient person and wont rush your furry friend(s) or force them to do anything that they dont want to in a hostile manner. I take care of their needs when they are shown to me by our friends and if they want their space or want to be close i can do either. Ill play some nice gentle music for them and check in on them regularly, maybe have a conversation with them too

About: I have been a volunteer dog foster in Ottawa for more than 8 years now! No matter the injury, background, or breed, I have learnt to deal with them all. Pet care fills easily in my life as I have been doing it for awhile now! I do work a part-time job and will need to leave for around 5 hours in the day but just me about dates and times and I will adjust my schedule ! I treat everyone with respect! I don’t overcrowd or intrude but make you and your pet feel comfortable in my presence. Frequent contact and communication is a valuable skill of mine
About: I'm 22, I've had animals my entire existence including reptiles. I live on 4 acres of mostly fenced in yard for your babies to run around. I'm flexible on anything you need for your babies. (And I can babysit your reptiles) I currently have no job but I'm looking for a part-time so I can continue to focus on meeting all sorts of new animals that need somewhere to snooze and play. I have a mostly fenced yard, three doggos that are super friendly to everything. I have experience with vet medicine and crate training. I have LOTS of safe dog toys that need to be played with.
“Rebeca was fantastic—kind, reliable, and great with Meeko. She sent regular updates and photos, took him on lots of walks, and kept everything in perfect shape at home. I had total peace of mind and would book her again in a heartbeat.”

About: Since I was a kid, I always had a special bond with animals, and would do anything in my power to share my love with every pet I came across! I grew up in a household of hounds, cats, and even rats! So I am comfortable with chaotic environments. I have been expanding into professional pet sitting for the past couple years now, but I have done dog walking for neighbours, as well as the occasional cat sitting for family since I was 10. I am currently working part time, so I have lots of time to care for and spend time with your furry friends! On days I am working, I can fit in walks and potty breaks before I leave and when I get back! I am a college student as well, so during January-August, my schedule will look a little different. I can provide frequent potty breaks, walks, and play time as needed, and can adapt to dogs of different activity levels and Styles of play. I am patient, and will take the time as needed to allow your furry friend to get comfortable. And of course, I will provide all the pets and affection! No matter what, I will always make sure you come home to a happy pet, and a clean home. :)
“Hannah was so helpful when we needed a last minute dog sitter at our airbnb for the day. Great communication and you can tell she is very diligent and trustworthy with your pet. Highly recommend and I wish we lived closer to have Hannah again. My dog was very happy with her and they had a great day walking the trails and snuggling! Thank you Hannah!!”

“We had such a great experience with Jamie! He took amazing care of our dog Max while we were away. He sent us regular updates and pictures, which made us feel completely at ease. Max looked so happy and comfortable the whole time — it was clear he was being loved and well cared for. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! Highly recommend and will definitely book again. 🐾💛”

About: Generally, I have grown up surrounded by different animals, including dogs. I used to take our family dog for walks around the block and outside with him a lot. I live with other family who have two medium sized dogs. I talked to them and give them hugs every day and they make me laugh. During the week, my availability varies with more availability on weekends where I am able to dedicate more time to spend with your fur babies. At home, I live with two dogs. They are not my dogs specifically but I will let them outside to let them run around and/or do their business and sometimes I will sit outside with them on the porch and just relax. I am also active in my daily life as I exercise at home and go for long walks everyday down the trail. I like to absorb the nature around me on my walks. It's also a good stress reliever. When I watched over dogs in the past for family members, I would take them for walks, feed them, let them outside, and spend time with them in the house.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ashton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ashton walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ashton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
