I can’t say enough good things about Vitoria! She was amazing with our two dogs and three cats and we came home to a house of well cared for and loved pets. She went above and beyond around our house and made our transition home incredibly smooth. Would recommend her to anyone!!

Allie has such a great energy with Kit! She is clearly familiar with sensitive dogs and was amazing at reading Kit’s body language and moving at her pace. She was attentive to Kit’s needs, understanding accepting of her quirks and kept us well updated throughout her stay. We are so grateful to have connected with her!!

Emily was very communicative and shared lots of pictures which we loved. She also took our energetic dogs for nice long walks every day and played with them outside. Our home was left clean and tidy, we would use her house sitting services again for sure.

This week we had the pleasure of having Abbey and James look after Ryder while we were away. We couldn’t have asked for better sitters for our girl. Abbey was so great at winning over Ryder’s affection, from the moment they met. Even when we got home she stayed facing Abbey and enjoyed her head rubs. Ryder and their dog Styx apparently had so much fun together, that she basically slept for the next 24 hours. We would definitely hire them again for our girl in the future, and strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a sitter for their fur baby. Thank you Abbey and James.

Katryna did a fantastic job housesitting my dog Bailey for 4 days. She communicated well and provided daily updates and pictures and went above and beyond to keep Bailey on her regular schedule. It was such a relief to know Bailey was in such good hands with Katryna and I wouldn't hesitate to book her again. I came home to a happy pup and a clean home.

Sarah took excellent care of Louie. She gave me daily updates of how Louie was doing with photos and video while I was away. Louie loved his time with Piper. I was able to enjoy my vacation knowing Louie was in wonderful care. She is very responsive and always prompt to respond, which also put me at ease. Sarah left the house exactly how we left it. I would definitely rebook Sarah!

I feel very lucky to have found Jenna and would not hesitate to recommend her to others. She is clearly an animal lover and we were able to meet in person twice before her stay which was reassuring for me. My dog is a senior and my cat very timid and she was happy to cater to their specific needs and keep me updated throughout the week we were away. She was very organized and helped me navigate the process with Rover. Thank you Jenna!

About: Since I was a kid, I always had a special bond with animals, and would do anything in my power to share my love with every pet I came across! I grew up in a household of hounds, cats, and even rats! So I am comfortable with chaotic environments. I have been expanding into professional pet sitting for the past couple years now, but I have done dog walking for neighbours, as well as the occasional cat sitting for family since I was 10. I am currently working part time, so I have lots of time to care for and spend time with your furry friends! On days I am working, I can fit in walks and potty breaks before I leave and when I get back! I am a college student as well, so during January-August, my schedule will look a little different. I can provide frequent potty breaks, walks, and play time as needed, and can adapt to dogs of different activity levels and Styles of play. I am patient, and will take the time as needed to allow your furry friend to get comfortable. And of course, I will provide all the pets and affection! No matter what, I will always make sure you come home to a happy pet, and a clean home. :)

Melanie exceeded all of our expectations! Our dog loved her and she was absolutely great to deal with. We're nervous owners of a senior dog, and really appreciated all the updates and photos she sent. Our dog isn't used to being left alone often, so we really appreciated that Melanie was able to spend all day with him. She's very responsive, and followed all the instructions we left to a T. It's obvious Melanie is a true dog lover, and we wouldn't hesitate to leave our dog with her again!

About: Lifetime dog Mom. We have boarded dogs from 1 night to 20 nights so far. We have had Mini and teacup poodles, Dachshunds, Goldens, Labs, Labradoodles, Bichons, Schnauzers and other mixed breeds. We have great relationships with all of our pet families. We are a family of four, my husband and I have been in Richmond for 27 years in the same home. We live in a bungalow with a fenced yard. Many furry guests have enjoyed lazing in the sun in our front window, on our backyard deck and have enjoyed going for long walks in our dog friendly, and walking through the conservation area alongside the Jock River. We have two grown sons - 21 and 25. We all work full time, and there’s always somebody home. We are all animal lovers. I grew up with a shepherd and a lab. Our family has had the love of Ruby, a beagle and the most fun with Freddie, our beloved Bichon-Poodle. We laid Freddie to rest in Sept 2021. Our home is open to doggie silliness and company. I’ve done pet and house sitting for friends and family for years. Our primary interest is in hosting low or non-shedding dogs. Doodles, poodles, schnauzers, dachshunds, GMD, you get the idea. We love small to medium breeds. But check with me because I do love them all and would be willing to try any breed. I like to arrange a meet and greet and have a trial stay before committing to a long term 1-2 week stay. Our family has taken many roads trips and brought our own dogs with us over many years, now we are avid campers/glampers (travel trailer) and, when our customers approve, we have taken some of our furry guests with us. We understand both your concerns and your needs for a worry free time away. We are ready to care for your pet and give you peace of mind while away. Please note that we may take dogs from 2 families at one time during busy seasons and are well set up to manage this. Our home is a relaxed space and we always make sure the furry guests are kept stress free. I work full-time (mostly remotely) - when I have to be in the office I make arrangements with my sons to help out with dog walking and check-ins. My days ebb and flow. I can take the time necessary to get up early with your dog and get them walked, fed and settled before I start my day. I often have breaks during the day and can take them out a couple of times per day as necessary. We also have a fenced yard and a dog door to our large deck and yard. My pet sitting style is to give dogs lots of play, attention, snuggly places to nap and enough love so they don’t miss you too much while you’re away - hoping you and your pet will be comfortable never stressed. I can care for your furry family members in my home or in yours. I know it helps dogs and cats feel less stressed when they can stay home, follow their routines and be in safe and familiar surroundings.

Nevaeh responded to my request right away, even though it was very last minute and I needed her the very next day. She was warm, friendly, and delightful from the moment she came to meet us. My dog, Peaches, was recovering from some severe stomach issues earlier that week, and Nevaeh took excellent care of her, giving me real peace of mind while I was away. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nevaeh to anyone looking for a reliable, caring pet sitter. I will definitely be using her again!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful Bronya is. She took amazing care of all of our animals. She asked questions when she wasn’t sure and sent us plenty of updates with photos. She was very courteous of our home leaving it very neat. Our senior dog is very anxious with anyone new and Bronya made sure to take the time to allow her to get comfortable. I’m no time at all we were getting photos of our old pup sitting in her lap giving kisses. Travel is so much easier when you know your pets are well cared for. 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

FAQs for House Sitting - Ashton

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Ashton on Rover is $63.83 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 750 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ashton. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ashton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ashton walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ashton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 89% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
