“Auntie Lori was great with our little dude Oscar. She played ball with him until she started to have a Popeye arm!! Oscar was cuddling beside Lori, looking very content when we got home. We'll definitely use Lori's services again, and in fact she's already booked with us for a couple more stays. Carol, Andy, and Oscar”

“This was our first time using Rover.com and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Cindy was always quick to communicate, provided welcome updates on our pet, and took good care of our home. Will definitely hire her again!”

“Erica is the only sitter we will ever use again for our beagle boy! He’s almost 2, and an absolute menace to society 😂 but he just needed the right person to help keep his mind busy and love him. Erica sent so many update pictures, I never worried once in our 10 days away. Our house was spotless and beautifully kept. She handled some bumps along the way as well and kept in excellent touch. I would highly recommend her if you have a high-energy puppy that’s a little challenging for most!!”

“Rosie was so happy to have Melanie back again! We know that Rosie is in safe & loving hands with Melanie, and we really appreciate getting photos and updates while we're away. We look forward to our next weekend away, already booked!”

About: I’ve had two dogs my entire childhood and took in a senior rescue dog named Maggie, so I have experience with dogs from puppies to seniors. I have trained two dogs and love taking care of my friends and families’ dogs. Pet care fits very well into my daily routine because I have completed school for summer and am umemployed. This allows me to dedicate a of time and attention to the pets in my care. I'm available throughout the day for walks, feeding, playtime, and potty breaks, and I can adapt to each pet's specific needs. I am super flexible and I enjoy spending time with animals since I am around one already 24/7(my dog Jessie). I am very attentive and trustworthy and I love to take dogs on walks often. Your dog's safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I follow each pet owner's instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, medication needs, exercise routines, and any special requirements.
“Hayley was great! Met my pup Ellie for the first time and Ellie can be shy/unsure of strangers and by the end of the evening she was Ellie’s bestie. Hayley sent photos and communicated regularly with updates of her stay with Ellie.”

About: I have been a volunteer dog foster in Ottawa for more than 8 years now! No matter the injury, background, or breed, I have learnt to deal with them all. Pet care fills easily in my life as I have been doing it for awhile now! I do work a part-time job and will need to leave for around 5 hours in the day but just me about dates and times and I will adjust my schedule ! I treat everyone with respect! I don’t overcrowd or intrude but make you and your pet feel comfortable in my presence. Frequent contact and communication is a valuable skill of mine
About: I have taken care of one small dog and one large dog at the same time. I loved going on walks with them, (even during Canadian winter temps!), and playing together at home and the dog park was lots of fun! I have spent much time around the dogs of my friends and family members and would love to spend time taking care of your small or medium sized pup. I am comfortable with feeding, walking and any other dog care chores required for the well-being of your doggie! I currently work in a casual position at the hospital, and therefore have several days off throughout the week where I would be able to spend entire days with your dog or cat! On days that I do work, I am happy to visit/live-in with your pet(s) outside of my work hours. My schedule is flexible however, so please let me know what your preferences are. When I have cared for pets in the past, the owners have always provided me with anything I need for the dogs/cats, including food, toys, leashes, doggie bags, litterbox supplies, and of course, treats. I feel comfortable caring for your pets using anything they are familiar with on a normal basis so that it does not interrupt their routine too much. I also like to keep in touch with the owners throughout my time taking care of their pets, sending pictures and updates whenever possible.
About: Hello, my name is Sarah! I am 26 years old and residing in Ottawa, ON. I am an animal lover all-around, but have a special soft spot for dogs! I do not currently have any pets but have grown up and spent my whole life around dogs & cats. I understand the feeling of an animal being more than a pet, but rather a member of the family. I have previously owned large dogs, therefore I consider myself to be fully capable and comfortable caretaking for your larger/ stronger pets too. I have experience with retrievers, huskies, Irish wolfhounds, golden doodles, black toy poodles, German shepherds, Swiss mountain dogs, and lots more! Summer availability: I am currently available any day of the week, at any time of the day. From Sept 2026 availability will change as I am currently a student at Algonquin College. I am very involved in the care I provide & love to give pets the attention they require. I am trustworthy & capable of following client’s regular care routine for their pets. I am more than capable of exercising & walking pets as well.
“Neeru has cared for Molly and Django in several occasions. This time, Molly had an emergency surgery right before our trip, and she took excellent care of her. Took her to the vet for check ups and made sure she recover well. I am very grateful ❤️”

“Lorraine is amazing! This is the second time she has stayed at our house with our dogs. We have 3 dogs (including a 6 month old puppy) and when we returned home from vacation, our dogs were happy, content and exhausted from all the walks Lorraine took them on. It gives us such peace of mind to know they’re in great hands with Lorraine.”
“Weihan was very thoughtful and thorough. Given that our fur baby was in recovery, he took extra precautions to help us and making sure we feel at ease while out taking care of other stuff. Will def reach out again in the future.”

“I am so grateful for Julie taking time to spend the day with Naiya yesterday. Julie was kind, responsive and trustworthy with Naiya. I appreciated the photos and Julie even did the dishes I had left in the sink for me. I would absolutely recommend her for your pets care!”

“Rebeca was fantastic—kind, reliable, and great with Meeko. She sent regular updates and photos, took him on lots of walks, and kept everything in perfect shape at home. I had total peace of mind and would book her again in a heartbeat.”

“I would highly recommend Celia for dog sitting. We have two aussies, including an 18 month old who is new to us and has serious anxiety issue especially with visitors to the house. Celia came by for a meet and greet prior to our trip and Brandy settled nicely for her within a few minutes Celia sent us upates daily and was very responsive to our queries. We were so pleased to arrive home to two very happy pups.”

“We’re so happy with Jennifer with the way she took care of Bella for two weeks. She exhibited compassion and empathy with our fourteen year old that had some special needs. With her attention to detail, we highly recommend Jennifer.”

“I was more than pleased at how thorough and helpful Pratik and his wife were during our 21 day absence from home. He adjusted to each of our two dogs' personalities and sent pictures of them to us. The house was left in excellent condition, clean and organized. Pratik kept in regular communication with us so we never had any worries. I have no hesitation in recommending Pratik for any house sitting assignment.”

“Katryna was a wonderful dog, cat, and house sitter! We were very grateful to have her through an emergency flooding event, where she called in her family to support and managed our neighbours and families coming to help as well. She took wonderful care of our animals during regular circumstances and went above and beyond to support in an emergency. 100% will be hoping to book Katryna again.”

“Shannon is a lovely person, and she did an excellent job of communicating while with my two dogs, which made me feel reassured. The dogs loved her, and we've already booked her for another stay.”

Megan came out for a meet and greet and then a trial walk before she spent a week looking after our dog, cats and home. Our dog seemed to really click with Megan. Megan was even able to make some progress over the week with our shy kitty Ruby. Thanks Megan for looking after our pets and our home!

Victoria looked after our cat and dog will we were away for a 2-week trip. We received almost daily photos and updates of what our two fur children were doing which we loved receiving. We will definitely ask her to watch our babies again. She is trust-worthy and caring. We could not have found anyone better!

Absolutely amazing. My dog is very old and she di an outstanding job keeping up with her needs and adjusting foods etc as necessary. Will book again. My house is somehow cleaner than when I left, she even stripped the sheets and prepped the laundry before she left

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bells Corners maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bells Corners walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bells Corners choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 90% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
