Safety, trust & environment
I make sure to know where all of the supplies are for the dog, to be aware of any bad habits or potential accidents that could happen and how to fix the accidents. I always inform the owner how the day has gone.
Information Megan K. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know general temperament, any health issues, and behaviours that the owner is or isn’t trying to enforce. I also make sure that the owners know that it's very much their dog, I will look after them how the owner wants regardless of what I think because it's not my animal.
A typical day
I really like to walk around suburban areas, and to pet friendly parks. I am a firm believer in always leashing your pets but given the opportunity (having a park to myself) and the right pet with good recall training, I like to play fetch and practice training.

Pet care experience
I have a love of animals that has become a part of me as I grew up on a farm. My favourite activity is to take the dogs to the park and play fetch. Responsible, dedicated, caring and a true animal lover. I spent 13 years riding and caring for horses, including routine and specialty care for injured or sick horses. I have spent many years at horse camps, which have allowed me to swim with horses and compete in shows. I still have a huge passion for horses; I have had to put that aside to pursue my education. I have a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in forensic psychology, with a minor in neuroscience and mental health. Additionally, I have a graduate certificate in Addictions and Mental Health. I have plenty of experience dog sitting for up to two weeks at a time, which includes feeding, walking, grooming, playing, some training, and cuddling. My degree in psychology has allowed me to understand the ins and outs of classical and operant conditioning, therefore making training less difficult for me to hone in on as a skill. I always make sure to go over the pets' routine and any specific care requirements, and the best way to interact with them. I have navigated with scared, and aggressive dogs and gained their comfort and trust. I have level 1 and 2 pet first aid (dogs and cats) by the Ottawa Humane Society.
Reviews

Megan came out for a meet and greet and then a trial walk before she spent a week looking after our dog, cats and home. Our dog seemed to really click with Megan. Megan was even able to make some progress over the week with our shy kitty Ruby. Thanks Megan for looking after our pets and our home!

Megan is just amazing, we would recommend her hands down to anyone, she takes such amazing care of nala every time she stays with her, we always come back home to a very happy puppy and an organized home. Thank you Megan we always look forward to the next time.

Megan is great, it’s our second time having her over to sit our border collie. The experience has been great, she keeps us informed at all times, we got back to not only a happy puppy but a clean house. She is very professional. And nala loves her.

Megan was punctual, communicated clearly, took excellent care of our 1.5 yr doodle and was very willing to be flexible and available. Strongly recommend.
