About: Hello nice to meet you! My name is Carissa Fairweather and I am currently offering petsitting (my home or yours) and/or dog walking in Smiths Falls! Im currently the proud pet mom to a 5 year old medium bull mastiff mix and 3 adorable cats. I have also owned guinea pigs, skinny pigs, rabbits, and fish. Ever since I can remember I’ve had a strong passion for animals and will soon be attending school for Veterinary Technician. I have been pet sitting for about 5 years now and have been dog walking well since I could walk. I also previously worked at PetValu where I assisted pet parents in making decisions to benefit their pet/pets life (feeding/nutrients, training, and health). If you are interested in booking one of my services, or would like some more information please feel free to message me! I look forward to meeting with you and your loving pets 😊
“Sarah really helped us out of a jam when our other sitter cancelled at the last minute. She took great care of our little herd and kept us in the loop about their care. Highly recommend Sarah as a pet sitter!”

About: I currently have 2 cats: Raven and Cocoa. In the past I've also had hamsters, a frog, a dog, a rabbit, other cats, and many rats. I've also hand raised a chicken with disabilities and rehabilitated a wild mouse. And I used to work on a farm. I love all animals. My availability is a little bit all over the place as I also have a house full of children but I'm willing to work with you. I respect the owners wishes in terms of feeding, schedules, discipline and safety. Please take the time to walk me through what's most important to you.
“We wish that there were TEN more stars to add for Ashley! My wife and I left Maggie in Ashley’s care and right from the start, we felt she was in good hands. During our trip, that was proved over and over again. Ashley was caring, sensitive, always available to us, sent us photos and little updates on Maggie….things that made missing our little fur baby a bit easier. We will make sure that if we take a vacation where Maggie cannot come, Ashley is available to be with her again. Ashley is way beyond just a pet sitter, she brings her all to the task and gave us such peace of mind. Thank you Ashley!”

“Jenna provided great care for our girl and sent updates and pictures to let us know how she was doing! I felt my dog was in good hands while I was gone, and my dog was very happy to stay with her.”

“Emily was very communicative and shared lots of pictures which we loved. She also took our energetic dogs for nice long walks every day and played with them outside. Our home was left clean and tidy, we would use her house sitting services again for sure.”

“Nevaeh responded to my request right away, even though it was very last minute and I needed her the very next day. She was warm, friendly, and delightful from the moment she came to meet us. My dog, Peaches, was recovering from some severe stomach issues earlier that week, and Nevaeh took excellent care of her, giving me real peace of mind while I was away. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nevaeh to anyone looking for a reliable, caring pet sitter. I will definitely be using her again!”

“Melanie did a great job of taking care of our dog while respecting the house at the same time. We had great communication through her entire stay and she sent a bunch of photos. She was patient with our animal and asked questions when instructions or things were not clear. Happy with it all 😊”
“Autumn watch our 3 fur babies (2 dogs & a cat) she was wonderful, kept us informed each day about them all with notes, pictures and videos. She left our house tidy and clean. We will definitely be using her in the future !! Thanks again Autumn”

“Amanda was a phenomenal caretaker of our pets! She loved them like her own and they loved her. She was kind, thoughtful and reliable. We received a number of timely updates while away and felt super comforted knowing she was just a call away. We’re so grateful to have found Amanda and look forward to having her back again!”

About: I grew up with tons of different pets in the house; from puppies to Guinea pigs and everything in between. I genuinely love spending my time with animals. Whether that be on a long sunny morning walk or cuddling on the couch with a good book in hand. I work fully remotely so my schedule is flexible. I have my own dog and she enjoys frequent sniffs outside and lots of cuddles, so I’m used to taking breaks. I have a lovely, friendly Pomeranian of my own who shares my home with me. I live near lots of walking trails and live a quiet, peaceful life.
About: Lifetime dog Mom. We have boarded dogs from 1 night to 20 nights so far. We have had Mini and teacup poodles, Dachshunds, Goldens, Labs, Labradoodles, Bichons, Schnauzers and other mixed breeds. We have great relationships with all of our pet families. We are a family of four, my husband and I have been in Richmond for 27 years in the same home. We live in a bungalow with a fenced yard. Many furry guests have enjoyed lazing in the sun in our front window, on our backyard deck and have enjoyed going for long walks in our dog friendly, and walking through the conservation area alongside the Jock River. We have two grown sons - 21 and 25. We all work full time, and there’s always somebody home. We are all animal lovers. I grew up with a shepherd and a lab. Our family has had the love of Ruby, a beagle and the most fun with Freddie, our beloved Bichon-Poodle. We laid Freddie to rest in Sept 2021. Our home is open to doggie silliness and company. I’ve done pet and house sitting for friends and family for years. Our primary interest is in hosting low or non-shedding dogs. Doodles, poodles, schnauzers, dachshunds, GMD, you get the idea. We love small to medium breeds. But check with me because I do love them all and would be willing to try any breed. I like to arrange a meet and greet and have a trial stay before committing to a long term 1-2 week stay. Our family has taken many roads trips and brought our own dogs with us over many years, now we are avid campers/glampers (travel trailer) and, when our customers approve, we have taken some of our furry guests with us. We understand both your concerns and your needs for a worry free time away. We are ready to care for your pet and give you peace of mind while away. Please note that we may take dogs from 2 families at one time during busy seasons and are well set up to manage this. Our home is a relaxed space and we always make sure the furry guests are kept stress free. I work full-time (mostly remotely) - when I have to be in the office I make arrangements with my sons to help out with dog walking and check-ins. My days ebb and flow. I can take the time necessary to get up early with your dog and get them walked, fed and settled before I start my day. I often have breaks during the day and can take them out a couple of times per day as necessary. We also have a fenced yard and a dog door to our large deck and yard. My pet sitting style is to give dogs lots of play, attention, snuggly places to nap and enough love so they don’t miss you too much while you’re away - hoping you and your pet will be comfortable never stressed. I can care for your furry family members in my home or in yours. I know it helps dogs and cats feel less stressed when they can stay home, follow their routines and be in safe and familiar surroundings.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Smiths Falls maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Smiths Falls walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Smiths Falls choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
