“I had never boarded our 8 year old chocolate lab before so I was nervous to leave him. Kim made us feel comfortable with plenty of pictures and updates throughout the week. They dogs got along great, enjoyed the whole house and she even let him sleep on the bed. I can’t say enough great things about this experience. She noticed his ears were bothering him and took the time to clean them (which he doesn’t normally let anyone do but me). Thank you Kim! ❤️”

“Cosmo had a great time on his weekend stay with Nicole and Eddie. Once again they were great. Communication and accommodation was top notch. They clearly kept Cosmo busy with walks and playtime as he slept the whole day once he got home! We highly recommend Nicole and Eddie.”

“Lynda is absolutely wonderful, and Timon has stayed with her many times now. Every visit reinforces how lucky we are to have found her. She provides such a warm and loving environment, and Timon is always genuinely happy and comfortable in her care. She keeps us consistently updated with thoughtful messages, photos, and videos, which gives us complete peace of mind. Lynda is incredibly attentive to the dogs’ needs, mindful of their personalities, and great at reinforcing positive behaviors and routines. Timon always comes home relaxed, happy, and clearly well cared for. It’s obvious how much she truly loves dogs and treats them like family. We trust her completely and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional sitter 💛”

“Highly recommend them they are absolutely wonderful people. I was so nervous about leaving our dog with someone for the first time. The daily updates, photos and videos made our day! Our trip back was delayed a day and they were super accommodating to keep him for another night. We will definitely book with them again. Think my dog was sad when he got home with us. He was looking for them at the door at our place.”

“Joan is so loving to my dog Simba. He was having a great time with her over the weekend and went on plenty of adventures with her! I'm afraid he might get bored with me at home now 😂. Thanks so much for taking care of my baby ❤️ I would definitely recommend!”

About: I’ve had tons of different animals growing up. Recently had to euthanize my 15 year old family boarder collie. Also an English bull dog who passed away at two due to breathing issues. I miss having a dog around, however am not ready to adopt my own just yet. Would love to have them over here and there. I Absolutely adore dogs! I currently work from home so I am always here to take care and love your animal! Will walk, feed, cuddle them and if permitted, take them where me and my family go, weather it’s a walk to the park or beach! We will love and care for your pet as our own. We have a backyard for them to pee/poo as well as a pool if they can swim. Will go on walks! I have two children who adore animals who are very gentle so we will all be spending lots of time together. Dog must be kid friendly though.
“Melissa was an absolute pleasure to meet and she is fantastic with dogs. My dogs fell in love with her immediately and listened to her very well, which speaks to her ability to connect and lead dogs. Highly recommend Melissa as a pet sitter.”

“We had a great experience with Manali. She was reliable, caring, and kept us updated while we were away, giving us complete peace of mind. Our dog was happy, well cared for, and clearly enjoyed spending time with her.”

About: I've had dogs for the last 20 years, usually with four in the house at a time. We've had a Shih-tzu, three Jack-Shih-tzus, a Great Pyrenees, and now a solo Maltie-Poo named Dozer. Every dog I meet is a new friend, and I have to admit that I knew the names of all the dogs in my last neighborhood, and like maybe three of the owners names. Happy to walk active dogs that need long walks. For doggy day care and boarding we have to restrict it to small dogs because our own small dog is picky about which larger dogs he likes. Other animals: I've also taken care of farm animals. Dairy cows and calves, and feeding chickens and putting them in for the night. I've kept both freshwater and marine tanks and can check up on your fish or your reef while you're away. No worrying about your niece or nephew dumping a whole container of bug bites into the tank while you're gone and causing an ammonia spike. I've also kept constrictors and colubrids (but not currently), crested geckos, and dart frogs, and am familiar with the husbandry of each. I have a flexible schedule and am in between writing contracts at the moment so have lots of time available for scheduling check-ins and walks for local puppers. I can check-on and feed pets as needed, dispense necessary meds, walk them from your home, or load them in the car and take them to the Cataraqui Trail for longer walks / more active dogs.
“Amazing stay for our fur baby he was relaxed and so content from his stay! Lei took excellent care of Zeus kept us posted sent us videos and pictures we were very pleased and assured our little guy was in good hands. Lei even went out of her way to return the feeder bowls I forgot at pick up she drove them over. Honestly amazing 👏 thanks so much for having Zeus”

“Shannon took great care of our dog. She kept us informed throughout the weekend and sent lots of great pictures. Riley came home happy and tired out. We would love to use Shannon's services again.”

“Daniel, Sarah & the kids are simply amazing!! We are repeated clients and I can’t say enough how much we appreciate the care and attention our dog receives at each stay! They are constantly sharing updates, which makes our trips more enjoyable just by knowing that our dog is also having a great time.”

“I worried my sweet little Golden Retriever would feel abandoned and anxious in a stranger's house. She took to Danielle immediately on first meeting. Wasn't anxious when I left. By all reports, she really enjoyed her time with Danielle and Mat in their home and spacious backyard. Their affection for animals shines through. When I picked her up, Willow was happy to see us but not so much as if relieved. She roamed the property like it was hers. It was obvious she had as much a vacation as we did.”

“Amazing experience. It was the first time that I leave my dog to someone else so I was a little bit nervous about it. Stephanie had been amazing and accommodating, she took care of my Sugar like she would do with her own puppy. She kept me updated by sending me texts and pictures of my dog. Both Sugar and I are happy with the experience. I will definitely reach out again next time I need to dogsit my Sugar :)”

“Kavya took care of Bailey while we were away. Bailey made herself at home and was treated like family! I received news and photos every few days, it was perfect! Thanks!”

“As always, April was amazing with Kiki, our 11-year old Maltese. Kiki injured her leg shortly before going for her ‘vacation’ with April, and I felt very comfortable about leaving her. I know April is very experienced with dogs just like Kiki, and is so kind and caring. She sent photos and updates every few days and even bought a cute little dog bed that Kiki adored!”

“Farley had a fantastic stay. Jocelyn & Jason were wonderful to deal with and very friendly. They truly seemed to enjoy having our doggy visit and were very accommodating to our plans changing. Highly recommend!”

“Our Seamus had a wonderful time with Janice and Rene They made him feel right at home We appreciated their daily updates and photos Couldn't be happier with the care that they provided”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
