This was the second time Autumn looked after Remy, and the experience was excellent once again. I really appreciated the updates, pictures, and videos throughout the stay. Remy was clearly well cared for and had a great time. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again and would definitely recommend Autumn to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

Charlie and his wife were great. We gave them a smaller ‘princess’ dog and a large high energy dog and they took them both in with no issue! Dogs seemed to have a good time! I would definitely board here again!

Margaret and her children took such loving care of Windy, I can’t thank them enough! Margaret kept me updated on how Windy was doing which I very much appreciated especially since I had never her left her like this before. I would highly recommend Margaret as a very experienced and loving dog caregiver.

About: I've had dogs for the last 20 years, usually with four in the house at a time. We've had a Shih-tzu, three Jack-Shih-tzus, a Great Pyrenees, and now a solo Maltie-Poo named Dozer. Every dog I meet is a new friend, and I have to admit that I knew the names of all the dogs in my last neighborhood, and like maybe three of the owners names. Happy to walk active dogs that need long walks. For doggy day care and boarding we have to restrict it to small dogs because our own small dog is picky about which larger dogs he likes. Other animals: I've also taken care of farm animals. Dairy cows and calves, and feeding chickens and putting them in for the night. I've kept both freshwater and marine tanks and can check up on your fish or your reef while you're away. No worrying about your niece or nephew dumping a whole container of bug bites into the tank while you're gone and causing an ammonia spike. I've also kept constrictors and colubrids (but not currently), crested geckos, and dart frogs, and am familiar with the husbandry of each. I have a flexible schedule and am in between writing contracts at the moment so have lots of time available for scheduling check-ins and walks for local puppers. I can check-on and feed pets as needed, dispense necessary meds, walk them from your home, or load them in the car and take them to the Cataraqui Trail for longer walks / more active dogs.

This was my first time using this service and my selection of Alexis was the best thing I did for myself and my dog. We met before hand with her beautiful dog Sonny, that has an amazing disposition and it was a great connection. Alexis and her family have a nice home that is very accommodating and comfortable for a dog if any size. I received photos and video updates. I felt relieved that my dog was in great hands and will not hesitant to have my dog spend time with Alexis and her family.

Luke has been beyond amazing with Wall-E. We do not trust most people with our dog but Wall-E had an instant connection with Luke. Luke was extremely attentive to all of Wall-E's needs and kept us updated multiple times during the day. Towards the middle of our trip our anxiety about Wall-E was all gone. Would highly recommend Luke to any dog parent. Thanks Luke!

About: I am a young professional looking for a fun way to engage with some pets as I am unable at this time to have my own. As my full time job keeps me at a desk indoors, this will be great for me, as well as the pups, to burn off some energy! I have grown up with pets my whole life, raising and training puppies specifically (labs and golden retrievers mainly). I don't shy away from mischievous little ones or big energetic dogs. I appreciate their energy, playfullness and demeanor no matter the circumstance. Some days are just too much for us humans to handle one more thing, so I'm happy to help. I look forward to meeting and caring for your fur babies with the same love you have for them! I currently work full time remotely which offers me flexibility within my schedule to accomplish other tasks. I enjoy taking breaks and getting out in my community as much as possible. I am flexibile to care for your pet however directed by you, the owner! You know your fur babies best. I have grown up training puppies, both with crates and without so I have experience in a variety of settings. I am attentive to how varied a dogs needs can be and am eager to learn more about your pup.

About: I have several years of professional and independent pet care experience, including dog daycare, pet retail, dog walking, drop-ins, house sitting, overnight care and extended stays. I currently work from home, which gives me flexibility for pets who benefit from having someone around throughout the day, and I’m especially interested in building relationships with regular clients. I previously worked in dog daycare where I cared for groups of up to 75 dogs of all ages, sizes and temperaments. My experience includes feeding, walking, bathing, brushing, crating, administering medications, puppy care, senior care and working with special-needs dogs who require additional attention or accommodations. I’m also trained in canine first aid and comfortable caring for pets with more involved routines. Through my previous work at Village Pets Boutique, I gained extensive knowledge of pet nutrition, supplements and natural health products. Before that, I worked in the Pet Care department at PetSmart, giving me an even broader background in animal care and handling. I’m equally comfortable with cats and have plenty of experience caring for them through my work at PetSmart as well as independent drop-ins, house sitting and overnight stays. I’m very comfortable staying in a client’s home for extended periods and frequently provide this type of care while clients are travelling. Animals have also always been a huge part of my life outside of work. I grew up in a home with both dogs and cats and currently have two black Labs back home, Louie and Lenny. I bring a calm, capable and compassionate approach to pet care and genuinely enjoy getting to know each animal’s individual personality and routine. I currently work from home, which gives me a lot of flexibility for pet care throughout the day. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, daytime care, overnight sitting and extended stays, and I’m especially interested in finding regular clients who need consistent weekly care. My schedule can vary week to week, so feel free to message me about what you’re looking for! For house sitting, I’m very comfortable staying overnight or for longer periods and can often continue my normal workday from your home while keeping your pet company. I try to keep each pet’s routine as close to normal as possible, especially when caring for them in their own home. I’ll follow your usual feeding, walking, medication, crate, sleep and exercise routines and take the time to learn your pet’s individual habits, boundaries and personality. My professional daycare experience has made me very comfortable reading animal body language, recognizing stress or changes in behaviour and safely managing pets with very different temperaments. I’m also comfortable administering medications and caring for pets with more specific routines or needs. When house sitting or staying overnight, I’m very respectful of my client’s home and make sure everything is cared for while they’re away, not just their pet!

Deb & James did a fantastic job with Nino!! They would send us daily updates with the cutest photos and videos while we were away. We missed little Nino, but we knew he had been in great hands since day one. Deb & James are so kind and lovely, and we highly recommend them as pet sitters! We cannot thank them enough for being so patient with Nino and ensuring he felt comfortable and at ease with them (he is a very fearful chihuahua.) When we picked him up, we could tell that Nino loved them and had the best time while he was staying with them. THANK YOU!!

Josée, We want to thank you so very much for taking care of Molly! This was the first time Molly had been away from home and our first time leaving her under another's care. The updates, pics and videos over the weekend were fantastic and greatly appreciated. We were able to see she was doing great and enjoying her "time" away with you, your family and in your home. We are very grateful for your care and attention to Miss Molly. Hoping that you also enjoyed her company! Thank you!

Zoey was wonderful! I boarded my huskyxgreyhound with her over four nights at her home. Very good with communication and planning, sent daily photos and updates, and paid close attention to my pup with lots of care. My pup was happy and well taken care of when i came to pick her up! I would definitely recommend Zoey for pet care, and will be booking with her again for sure.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Brockville home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
