“I had never boarded our 8 year old chocolate lab before so I was nervous to leave him. Kim made us feel comfortable with plenty of pictures and updates throughout the week. They dogs got along great, enjoyed the whole house and she even let him sleep on the bed. I can’t say enough great things about this experience. She noticed his ears were bothering him and took the time to clean them (which he doesn’t normally let anyone do but me). Thank you Kim! ❤️”

“Lynda is absolutely terrific caring for Phoebe, 1yr JRT Phoebe always comes home exhausted She invests lots of her time playing with the dogs she has in her care. Large safe fenced yard, plenty of room for the pups to play. Lynda provides pictures and video of the pups in her care. Very flexible with drop off and pick up times”

“Shannon took great care of our dog. She kept us informed throughout the weekend and sent lots of great pictures. Riley came home happy and tired out. We would love to use Shannon's services again.”

“Highly recommend them they are absolutely wonderful people. I was so nervous about leaving our dog with someone for the first time. The daily updates, photos and videos made our day! Our trip back was delayed a day and they were super accommodating to keep him for another night. We will definitely book with them again. Think my dog was sad when he got home with us. He was looking for them at the door at our place.”

About: I’ve had tons of different animals growing up. Recently had to euthanize my 15 year old family boarder collie. Also an English bull dog who passed away at two due to breathing issues. I miss having a dog around, however am not ready to adopt my own just yet. Would love to have them over here and there. I Absolutely adore dogs! I currently work from home so I am always here to take care and love your animal! Will walk, feed, cuddle them and if permitted, take them where me and my family go, weather it’s a walk to the park or beach! We will love and care for your pet as our own. We have a backyard for them to pee/poo as well as a pool if they can swim. Will go on walks! I have two children who adore animals who are very gentle so we will all be spending lots of time together. Dog must be kid friendly though.
“Melissa was an absolute pleasure to meet and she is fantastic with dogs. My dogs fell in love with her immediately and listened to her very well, which speaks to her ability to connect and lead dogs. Highly recommend Melissa as a pet sitter.”

“As aways Guinness enjoyed her time with her bestie Bella. We were so happy yo have Guinness stay with J&J again for the weekend. She always has such an exciting time there and comes home tuckered out.”

About: I've had dogs for the last 20 years, usually with four in the house at a time. We've had a Shih-tzu, three Jack-Shih-tzus, a Great Pyrenees, and now a solo Maltie-Poo named Dozer. Every dog I meet is a new friend, and I have to admit that I knew the names of all the dogs in my last neighborhood, and like maybe three of the owners names. Happy to walk active dogs that need long walks. For doggy day care and boarding we have to restrict it to small dogs because our own small dog is picky about which larger dogs he likes. Other animals: I've also taken care of farm animals. Dairy cows and calves, and feeding chickens and putting them in for the night. I've kept both freshwater and marine tanks and can check up on your fish or your reef while you're away. No worrying about your niece or nephew dumping a whole container of bug bites into the tank while you're gone and causing an ammonia spike. I've also kept constrictors and colubrids (but not currently), crested geckos, and dart frogs, and am familiar with the husbandry of each. I have a flexible schedule and am in between writing contracts at the moment so have lots of time available for scheduling check-ins and walks for local puppers. I can check-on and feed pets as needed, dispense necessary meds, walk them from your home, or load them in the car and take them to the Cataraqui Trail for longer walks / more active dogs.
“Mia made our family feel so comfortable when we left Eddy at her house. Her dog Bella is very sweet. We got lots of pictures of Eddy and Bella on their snowy walks side by side on the trails. Her kids were also excited to have an extra dog to love. Thank you Mia and family! We will use your service again!!”

“Left our two year old Ace with Stephanie while we did a short getaway. First time using Stephanie for dog care and she was fantastic. She arranged a meet and greet in advance for us to connect and see if everyone felt comfortable. Stephanie is super personable, incredibly responsive and we appreciated the regular updates and pictures while our pup was in her care, assuring us everything was going well. Would highly recommend Stephanie for your dog sitting needs!”

About: We're in the process of opening a kennel on our 27 acre homestead, until then, we're here on Rover! Let us give your pets an enriching experience while you're away, and you peace of mind that they are in not one but two sets of good hands. Our dog Styx loves all pets, big and small, but we also have experience and infrastructure for some personal space if your pet takes a little longer to warm up or has special needs. We are currently building a kennel on our wooded retreat, and in the meantime, our home is open! We are home full-time and spend our days outside tending to the property, bringing your pets along, with lots of water and indoor breaks. We have a fenced yard and the house is able to be segmented off depending on the needs (puppy pen, cat area with dogs, cat area dog free, day crated, whatever your comfort is.
“For the first time, we left our Toby for eight consecutive nights. Leaving him with Jacqueline and Jamie we felt very reassured that he was going to be well taken care of. Early on in our trip he was showing some signs of sickness. Jacqueline promptly responded, made sure to provide me with many updates and did an amazing job at taking care of him. Luckily, Toby recovered after a day or two and was very happy to rejoin all of his dog friends for lots of playtime, walks, and naps together. It was very reassuring to not have to worry about him while we were gone, and we know that he has a fantastic time every time he is there. We feel very lucky to have a place for Toby to be well taken care of when we need it.”

“Kavya took care of Bailey while we were away. Bailey made herself at home and was treated like family! I received news and photos every few days, it was perfect! Thanks!”

“When I park outside of Ali's home, my Jaxon can't wait to get out the car and pulls me all the way to the door! That's always a great sign that our poochie's are happy and well-taken care of! I would recommend Ali to everyone!”

“Michaela looked after our 7 year old Doberman mix for one weekend. Everything went very smoothly and we felt very comfortable throughout the process. Our pup was well looked after and is sure to return. Thank you Michaela.”

“Kirat was super responsive and helped us with a last minute boarding request. Not only did she help on short notice, she was WONDERFUL with Sadie. The kids loved following along with her stay through photo’s and instagram posts and it was awesome to follow along. Kirat genuinely cared for Sadie like she was her own. Kirat will be the first place we look for boarding going forward. I cant recommend her enough!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
