“Jackie stayed the night with both of our larger dogs on a holiday. Her communication was fantastic and she was also happy to meet the dogs before officially scheduling the stay. Would book again!”

“Jessica provided thoughtful, personalized care for our anxiety-prone pup, taking her on walks and giving her cuddles to make her feel at ease. Jessica was also kind enough to extend an additional day when our return flights were cancelled. It was great to return to our home just as we left it, with a happy pup ready to greet us. We’re so appreciative of her excellent care!”

“Could not be happier with Marideth's house-sitting! She took great care of both my mother's and my own cats while we were away. She also went the extra mile to make sure our trash was out and snow shoveled when the snow came! 10/10 would book her again!”

About: Hi! I'm Lee. I've cared for animals for over 20 years, including three dogs of my own, and I've been pet sitting for friends, family, and others for the past four years. I love both cats and dogs and enjoy getting to know each pet's unique personality. Whether they're playful or cuddly, I focus on helping them feel comfortable and cared for. My goal is to make sure your pets feel safe, loved, and happy while you're away. Every pet receives patience, attention, and plenty of affection. Pet sitting fits into my schedule very naturally because I have a flexible work life as a hairstylist. My days are usually built around client appointments, which allows me to open time for pet care in between services, early mornings, evenings, and sometimes full days when I’m not booked. On lighter workdays, I can take on drop-in visits, walks, and check-ins throughout the day. On slower days or weekends, I’m available for longer care or overnight stays. I plan my schedule carefully so I can give each pet my full attention, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for without rushing their time with me. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I make sure they are always safe, comfortable, and on a consistent routine. I always provide fresh, clean water throughout the day so pets stay hydrated. For feeding, I keep a structured schedule so they know what to expect—breakfast is served no later than 8:00 AM and dinner is served no later than 6:00 PM, unless the owner provides a different routine. For dogs, I always make sure they are securely on a leash or harness before they step outside. Their safety is my top priority, and I stay alert to make sure they don’t get into anything dangerous, such as trash, bones, or anything on the ground that could harm them. Inside the home, I maintain a pet-friendly environment by keeping an eye on their behavior and making sure they stay away from hazards like electrical wires or anything they could chew or swallow. I also make sure they have a safe space where they can play, relax, and move around comfortably without risk. My goal is always to create a calm, safe environment where pets feel secure, cared for, and at ease while their owners are away.
“We just moved across the US. We had to go back to our state for nine days. I had a greater peace of mind with Jessica watching our dogs. Very thankful. She sent pictures FaceTime a couple times. To say hi to our babies. I enjoyed the experience. I would hire her again. Kogi and Gus enjoyed her.”

“Carolyn so kindly came and watched Charlie on very short notice. She is so knowledgeable about dogs and so kind when she speaks to him, I knew he was in good hands. She sent a lot of updates and photos. I will absolutely ask her to care for him in the future. I can’t say enough good things about her.”

“Haley took care of our dogs while we were on vacation. We were able to fully relax and enjoy our time because she went so above and beyond with our girls! They were spoiled and cared for at the highest degree. She is a wonderful resource and person that we trust completely. She will be our go to for everything. Can't recommend her enough!”

“Candace was amazing! I was worried leaving my 7 wk old puppy but they did wonderfully! Candace kept me posted with pics and made sure he was well taken care of! Definitely will be using again and recommend!”
“Nicole was excellent! She kept in touch all day and sent pictures. She offered to stay a little longer when my flight got delayed. My mind was at ease the entire time. Will definitely be using her again to dog sit!”
“Nafisa took amazing care of our dogs over the holidays and treated them like family. She sent regular photo and video updates, which we really appreciated. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter!”

My goal is to make sure your dog feels safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away! I’m currently working full time 8:30am-5pm, but I anticipate having more availability during the day in the near future! Best availability would be evenings and weekends. “Katelyn was fantastic! She’s a consummate professional and understands dogs incredibly well. She provided frequent communication and lots of pictures. We returned to happy dogs who had clearly been very well cared for. We look forward to having Katelyn stay with our dogs again in the future!”

About: I love getting to know each individual pet’s personality and needs, and approach them with respect to make them feel comfortable and safe. I have many years of experience with animals who need insulin shots and oral medications, and experience with all ages. I will treat your pets as if they were my own! At home, I have a tripod husky and a cat who has traveled far with me. I go on miles-long walks every day… always with dog treats in my pockets :) I'm currently working from home setting my own schedule, so walking your dog would fit well into my day. If you live near me, an overnight at your place is possible as I like to give my Stormy cat her breakfast and outside grass time by mid morn. I have lots of cat toys in my house for my cat. I hope your dog has toys and if it's just a walk, then a good leash and baggies to collect poop are essential. I am all about fresh water and seeing that their space is just how they like it.

“We booked Brittany for dog sitting and Brittany was so great with our dog! We have a large Siberian Husky who is very active can be difficult but Brittany was great with him. She took him on multiple walks a day, played with him, and updated us with pictures of him while we were away!”

Emma had her second stay with Lucy and Polly, and it went great. Emma is so good at sending updates and photos of the girls that I miss them when I'm away. I feel very comfortable with Emma staying with the girls in my home, knowing that they and the house are well cared for.

We had Ciara stay for Memorial Day weekend and she was great with our high maintenance fur babies. ❤️ We have a small dog who is very attached to us and she got him to warm up, play and seemed happy when we got home. We also have an older kitty who gets insulin, and she had no issues administering that. I am definitely going to reach out to Ciara again! She’s great!

We couldn't ask for a better sitter for our pets! Elisabeth is so communicative, with lots of updates and pictures. You can tell she genuinely enjoys spending time with animals and both our cat and dog were so comfortable and happy with her. She even handmade a toy for our cat which she still loves playing with, how sweet!

Kayla was a wonderful choice for our two girls Paloma and Ivy. She is kind, thoughtful and detail oriented. She paid close attention to our instructions for our pups and taking care of our fish! We would not hesitate to have her back for another sit and you should not hesitate either!

I am beyond grateful for the incredible care Hillary provided to my two rescue dogs, Astrid and Rocco. These pups aren’t the easiest to look after—they come with a full set of challenges and sensitivities—but she handled everything with patience, compassion, and attention to detail. From the thorough pre-visit questions to the daily updates (complete with thoughtful notes and adorable photos), it was clear that Astrid and Rocco were in the best hands. Hillary went above and beyond to make sure both dogs felt safe and comfortable. I came home to two happy, relaxed dogs. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a sitter who truly understands and respects the unique needs of rescue animals!

Natalie was phenomenal with my dog, Lina over a 5 day house-sitting booking. She took the time to ask questions, and was attentive when learning about Lina's quirks and her daily routine. She'd always send multiple updates a day, pictures on walks and at meal times. My apartment was just as I left it when I returned. Would absolutely recommend her, she'll treat your dog like they're her own, and is super respectful when house sitting. Will definitely book again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Buffalo on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Buffalo walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Buffalo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Buffalo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Buffalo. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 87% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
