“Jackie took excellent care of our 3 pups. Everyone was relaxed, happy, and healthy when we got home. The house looked the same as when we left. Thank you Jackie, we are so happy to count on you when we go away.”

“Christina did an amazing job watching our three senior dogs while staying at our house. She sent pictures and videos and was very responsive. We will definitely be using her going forward!”

“Nicole did an excellent job in our home for an extended stay of 13 days with our 2 dogs. She was great with daily pupdates and pictures-which were greatly appreciated because we missed our babies. She dispensed meds several times a day to our senior German Shepherd and was able to keep our very active, lovable, snuggly -yet sometimes naughty Whippet puppy busy. I knew from the minute I met her that she was a great fit for us and I’d use her every time we need someone to stay or drop in for us!”

“Christina is truly the sweetest and most caring pet sitter! She has such a genuine love for animals and it really shines through from the moment we met and throughout the entire pet sitting stay. She kept us informed with lots of cute pictures and videos throughout the weekend, and was really on top of the specific needs for our senior dog.”

About: I have experience with seizures and strokes in dogs, am able to administer any kind of medication, and have some experience with animals struggling with anxiety. I am a graduate student just looking for some fulfilling part time work. I am available at any point during the weekdays and after October 31st on the weekends I will not be able to host any animals, but I plan on prioritizing the pet’s comfort within their own home and making sure all needs are met
“Forest is a great sitter for our pets. We were fostering a dog last minute and Forest was able to take that on unexpectedly. He was super patient with a dog that was totally new to us and pretty fearful. He sends lots of updates and pictures. We appreciated his help tons!”
“I can’t recommend Tiffany enough! She was able to help us out with a last-minute request, and was super easy to work with. She came for a meet and greet and was so sweet to our cat. Charlie (the cat) has been anxious to be left alone for long periods of time since her sister passed last year, so I really needed someone to spend time with her and give her the attention we normally would. Tiffany did exactly that and then some! She sent lots of updates and pictures, and I knew that Charlie was being doted on so I could fully relax while away. Tiffany is clearly an animal lover and it shows in her care! She followed all of our instructions to the letter AND left our apartment in tip top shape. I will definitely be working with her again!”

“Haley was an amazing dog sitter for my dog, Penny! From the beginning, communication was clear, friendly, and prompt. She kept me updated throughout the stay with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. She arrived on time, followed all instructions perfectly, and left everything spotless. Penny clearly loved spending time with her. I could tell she was well cared for and happy when I got back. I wouldn't hesitate to book Haley again.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats, young and senior for 25+ years. Your pet will be family to me. And will be loved and cared for very well. In addition, I’m neat and clean. You’re home will also be well cared for. I’m presently not working. So, I will be with your pet 24/7. I like to snuggle with my pets and hope your pet will enjoy snuggling with me. I LOVE dogs and cats! Your pet will be treated as if my own. Walks and snuggles and snacks (if you permit) will be plentiful. I’m a low key, quiet person. So your pet does not have to be fearful of me.
About: One of my biggest passions is saving animals lives through fostering. My fostering experience has provided me many skills necessary to care for animals with varying needs, including young kittens, diabetic cats, XXS chihuahuas, and XXL breed dogs. Due to my experience in healthcare, I've provided many sub-cutaneous injections for diabetes maintenance and drug responsibilities. I've handled many small rodents including mice, and am comfortable with handling and providing care for smaller pets. I've managed care for animals with severe anxiety by providing them with daily psychiatric meds, and animals needing physical support with supplements, weight loss interventions (diet foods and safe, increased exercise), as well as animals with stranger fear. As a full time professional student, my mornings are often occupied by lectures, and Tuesday/Wednesday afternoons may be partially occupied for school responsibilities. I am very flexible, and can attend to pet care duties before, in between, and after my classes. I am open to over night stays and higher-maintenance care tasks, such as providing care for animals that require behavioral or psychiatric support during their family members absence. I enjoy playing with pets, within their boundaries of comfort. I have become apt at recognizing animals mood states, so I can properly respond to fear, excitement, anxiety, pulling on the leash, and over reactivity as necessary. I enjoy taking dogs on frequent walks if that is comfortable for them, and give occasional treats to reward 'good' behavior, such as sitting or laying down on command, and waiting to be fed. I am comfortable being cuddly with animals, and being very close and physical with them, if that fits in their boundaries. In my apartment I cannot host dogs, however, there are many parks and fields right in my backyard that I can bring your dogs to that they will enjoy.
“Gabriella was a life saver helping us to fill a care gap for our pups while we were away for our honeymoon. She scheduled a meet and greet right away and was very communicative during her time with them despite us being out of the country no less. Our boys are a rather large handful but Gabriella was more than willing to be firm with them. It was clear they were well loved and cared for and we couldn't recommend her more for your own pups!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Alyssa. She took excellent care of my dog and home, providing daily updates and photos. My pup seemed so happy and well-cared for when I returned! Very Highly recommend!”

About: Hi! I’m Emma, and I absolutely love animals! 🐾 I’m a proud pet mom to a husky mix, a cat, and a bearded dragon, and I truly believe pets are part of the family. I’ve cared for all kinds of animals, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, fish, reptiles, and hamsters. I also worked at a doggy daycare in college and have experience with dog walks and drop-in visits. I love taking long walks, teaching dogs new tricks, and, of course, giving lots of cuddles! Whether your pet needs a long walk, some playtime, a little extra attention, or simply someone to keep them company while you’re away, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I’ll treat your pets like I treat my own—with lots of patience, attention, and love! ❤️ My schedule is very flexible, especially during the summer! I’m freely available for most of August, so I have plenty of time to give your pets the attention and care they deserve. Once the school year begins, I’m available for pet care before work on weekdays until 7 AM and after work starting around 4 PM. I’m also available throughout weekends, school holidays, and breaks. I’m happy to work with your pet’s routine and do my best to accommodate your schedule! Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities! I’ll take the time to learn your pet’s routine, personality, and specific needs and will follow your care instructions carefully. I’m attentive to details and will always make sure doors, gates, leashes, and other safety measures are secure. I’m comfortable caring for pets with different personalities and energy levels, and I’ll never force interaction if your pet needs space or time to warm up. I’m also happy to provide regular updates and photos so you know how your pet is doing while you’re away. I’ll treat your home and your pets with the same care and respect I would want from someone caring for my own animals. ❤️🐾
“Taylor was absolutely amazing! She watched our dog Winnie while we went to the Buffalo Bills game, and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. She came right to our hotel and stayed with him, played with him, took him for a walk, fed him, and made sure he was happy and comfortable the entire time. She even sent us pictures and updates, which gave us such peace of mind and allowed us to enjoy the game without worrying about him. It was obvious that Taylor genuinely loves animals and treated our dog like he was her own. We are so grateful we found her and would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, trustworthy, and dependable dog sitter. We will definitely be calling her again whenever we’re in the area!”

“Delen did a great job watching our dog Charlie for an entire week while we were out of town. She was responsive, thoughtful, and sent plenty of daily updates. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for dog sitting assistance.”

Caitlin is the best! My fiance and I were naturally a little nervous to use Rover for the first time, but we needed a pet sitter to stay at our house to care for our four-year-old husky lab mix Lucy and our six chickens. Caitlin stood out to us for her excellent reviews and years of professional experience working with animals. From the moment we inquired about her availability, she was very responsive and professional. We loved that she requested a meet & greet before we agreed to the pet sitting. She asked great questions that we hadn't even thought to mention prior to pet sitting. During pet sitting, she went above and beyond to help us out by not only taking great care of Lucy, but taking care of our chickens daily and helping out with our pool which we had filling while we were away. She sent us daily photos of Lucy. Lucy even snuck into our guest room to cuddle with Caitlin every night, which she only does with people who she feels comfortable with. We definitely want to work with Caitlin again and will recommend her to our family and friends. Thanks Caitlin!!

Forest and I had an initial meet and greet with my two dogs and an overview of my home since he would be taking care of both for over two weeks. His experience and work/life met my needs for the stay. He is very responsive to texts, sent some pics so I could see my dogs that I missed so much on my trip. I had every confidence that the dogs and my house was taken care of and that is a lot, I don't trust many people to take care of my dogs aside from family. I will book him again for future trips.

Karen was so wonderful!!!!! Took excellent care of my three cats, dog, and axolotl for a whole week. She kept in touch with me about how they were doing, and even gave me some extra water/food containers for them! When my flight home got delayed, she was willing to stay and take care of the animals for me for an extra day, even though she didn't have to. 10/10 thank you so much, Karen <3

The dogs had a great time and really enjoyed being with Jeannine. She did take good care of them, she took them for walks and fed them. She did send too the cutest photos of my dogs Lucy and Bandit. I also really appreciate that she watched them last min for me when my other sitter unexpectly canceled the day before I left. Overall, very happy.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sloan walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sloan maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sloan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sloan. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 88% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
