“Erica was wonderful, and we cannot thank her enough for staying with our pups. From the first meeting, both of our dogs were excited to see her and felt comfortable around her. While we were gone, Erica sent us pictures and updates. We knew they were in good hands, and were able to enjoy our few days away. Our home and our pups were well taken care of!”

About: I've been volunteering at the Richmond Animal League for over a year and have previous experience working at shelters and dog daycares. I've always loved caring for animals; I used to volunteer at the SPCA when I was younger and I have two dogs of my own that I enjoy taking on walks and playing fetch with in the backyard. I have a part-time job that I work 3-4 days a week (mostly evenings). Other than that, schedule is pretty flexible! I'm available throughout the week, as well as weekends. I'm more interested in drop-in visits and dog walking, but I'll be able to petsit for as long as you need with enough notice! For pet-sitting, I'll be able to stay and take care of your pets for as long as you need me to be there. I can stay all day and even overnight if needed, or just check in periodically throughout the day! I'll carefully follow instructions given on feeding, walks/exercise, morning and bedtime routines, medications, and just overall entertainment. I'm great with dogs of all kinds of energy, whether they want to be active all day long, or just snuggled up on the couch!

“Marlowe was great with our dog Boone and our cat Luna! We searched a long time to find the right overnight sitter for our 10 year old lab because we had not left him with anyone before. Marlowe is the perfect sitter for him! We came home to a very happy pup! Her attention to detail and level of care matched ours and we couldn't be happier to find a repeat sitter!”

“Celeste was an absolutely wonderful dog sitter. She was communicative, thoughtful, and consistently kept me updated, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear she genuinely cared about my dog, and seeing how happy and comfortable my dog was in her presence meant everything to me. I could tell my dog felt safe, loved, and well cared for the entire time. I would absolutely trust Celeste again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.”

About: My name is Nick and I am a teacher in Chesterfield county looking to use my love for animals as a way to make some extra money over the summer. I have had dogs and cats growing up my whole life and currently have a dog named Bagel and a cat named Friday. I also have lots of experience dog/cat sitting for friends and family over the years ever since I was in high-school. I am a teacher so I won’t be working during the summers so I will have unlimited time during the day/night to take care of your pets and their needs! Once the school year starts I can do weekends and afternoon/nights! I have a lot of energy myself so if your pets love to get exercise/play around I am very up for that. I also try to be very thorough with the pet care instructions and will ask questions/for clarification to ensure I am giving your pet the best care as possible.
“Kira and her family have been taking care of my Sooki for a number of years now, so I trust her immensely. You can tell immediately that Kira loves animals. She is kind, conscientious, and follows directions perfectly. If you have a request she follows up quickly and follows through. Your pet will be well taken care of ! I highly recommend her for all of your pet care needs.”

“Paula took such good care of our little Chloe. She stayed at our house and sent pictures and videos each day so we were reminded of the great care Chloe was receiving. Paula was great at communicating with us and didn't hesitate to ask questions to ensure Chloe had the best care. Thanks, Paula.”

“Sara was great! We left our Nailah home for a night while we went on a trip and she took good care of her. She sent pictures as well as updates while we were gone and our Nailah really seemed to love her. Would highly recommend 10/10”

“Victor did great sitting for Ellie, kept her company all day, listened to her needs, gave her food and her medicine. Would absolutely book him again in the future!”

“Daniel was awesome! Very kind and kept us up to date on how things were going at home the whole time we were away! I would absolutely recommend him and would book him again in a heartbeat to take care of our pup!”

“Thank you Marissa! Figgy was well cared for and were so thankful to be able to leave her at home instead of at a kennel. Marissa left the house spotless and was extremely flexible when our plans changed.”

“Exceeded expectations! Communication was consistent and thoughtful, with lots of pictures and updates that gave me peace of mind. I came home to a very happy pup, which says it all. I would absolutely book again!”

“Ada house sat my dog who was both diabetic and recovering from bronchitis which required shots and other medications twice a day. She not only cared for MMO’s medical needs but provided emotional support for him in my absence. She sent pictures and conducted a River video chat with me to ensure not only Momo’s emotional support but for mine as well. I felt confident my beloved pet was in good hands.”

“I can’t say enough good things about Mark! He was so kind and attentive, truly gave our two dogs the absolute best possible care while we were out of town. He was easy to communicate with and took wonderful care of our home while staying there. While away, a storm blew through Richmond and knocked down the electric line running across our backyard. Mark was so helpful at communicating everything going on, and took our dogs to a hotel two nights to make sure they were comfortable and safe. We will 100% be using Mark next time we need care for our dogs and recommending him to anyone needing a sitter!!!”

“For our 15-year-old Yorkie with limited hearing and vision, McKenzie was a caring and responsible day-long companion. She took our dog out frequently, gave her meds when needed, and even washed the food bowl! We can confidently recommend McKenzie as a knowledgeable and conscientious dog-sitter.”

I highly recommend Erica , she was incredible! She sent daily pictures and updates that allowed me to enjoy my vacation without worry. I cannot say enough about the care Erica gave the "girls", they both were very happy and content when we came home. The house was just as I left it, clean and tidy. Thank you Erica, I look forward to having you house/dog sit again.

Margot was absolutely amazing. We got constant updates and photos which we so appreciated. When we got home the house was just as we left it and so clean. She left the guest room so clean which we didn’t except given we’ve had other pet sitters who have left the house very dirty. When we met her we fell in love and will definitely be rebooking if she’ll allow us!! 10000/10 🤍🤍🤍

Sarah was so kind and caring with our energetic 10 month old puppy- our first long trip away from him! She put our minds at ease with regular updates, even sending videos of her playing some training ("find-it") games with him. Without being asked to do so, she did the laundry before leaving - what an amazing house guest! We cannot thank you enough, Sarah.

Julia was fantastic! Mogs and Amy were so comfortable with her. I think they are actually still looking for her ☺️ I am so glad she was available and understood the dogs story. I would highly recommend Julia and hope I can book her services again in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Bon Air on Rover is $72.15 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,446 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Bon Air. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bon Air walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bon Air maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bon Air choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Bon Air. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
