âWe couldn't have been more pleased with Mikella! She was perfect and Ollie loved her -- I think he would have been happy if I hadn't come home and he got to stay with her! She took him on lots of walks and sent me pictures every day. I will definitely use her again if she is available.â

âAmazing with my dogs, just the care my family needed for our 3 babies! First tune using an in home sitter, will never go back to boarding. She will be used again!â

âBecky was super thorough in sending me photos, videos, and updates of my pups. She clearly loved on them like I would have, and I was so thankful to have someone care for them so deeply while I was gone. Absolutely would recommend her services, and I plan to use her again and again! đđźâ¤ď¸â

âCarolyn was wonderful. She took good care of Charlie and was careful to follow instructions including administering medicine and following physical therapy instructions. She left the house very clean and orderly. We would love to use her again.â

âI canât say enough good things about Mark! He was so kind and attentive, truly gave our two dogs the absolute best possible care while we were out of town. He was easy to communicate with and took wonderful care of our home while staying there. While away, a storm blew through Richmond and knocked down the electric line running across our backyard. Mark was so helpful at communicating everything going on, and took our dogs to a hotel two nights to make sure they were comfortable and safe. We will 100% be using Mark next time we need care for our dogs and recommending him to anyone needing a sitter!!!â

âKira and her family have been taking care of my Sooki for a number of years now, so I trust her immensely. You can tell immediately that Kira loves animals. She is kind, conscientious, and follows directions perfectly. If you have a request she follows up quickly and follows through. Your pet will be well taken care of ! I highly recommend her for all of your pet care needs.â

About: Hi! Iâm a lifelong animal lover who has grown up with family pets and has experience caring for both cats and dogs with a variety of personalities and needs. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each petâs unique personality, whether theyâre playful, shy, energetic, cuddly, or independent. I understand how important it is to have someone trustworthy and attentive caring for your pet while youâre away, and I always aim to make animals feel safe, comfortable, and loved in their own environment. From feeding, walks, and playtime to litter box care, treats, and plenty of affection, Iâm happy to provide the care and attention your pet deserves. I love meeting new pets and building relationships with them, and Iâd be excited to care for your cat or dog! I work full time but have an hour long break. I also have a reliable personal car so I can travel to homes during my lunch break, ensuring that pets are taken care of throughout the day I visit homes often and send updates and pictures to families, ensuring that everyone sees their fur baby often. Litter boxes and water bowls are cleaned daily. While home owners are away, I also make sure to bring in any mail and anything else that shows up during my stay.

âSara was very responsible and loving to my great Dane and spent a lot of time with her sent me pictures and kept me posted. I would highly recommend her to sit with your animals.â

âI highly recommend Emily! She did a fabulous job taking care of our two girls. She is very reliable, an excellent communicator and an all-around great person. One of our dogs is a senior and requires medication twice per day - Emily handled it with ease. We were able to enjoy our trip and not worry about what was happening at home. Thank you Emily! We will definitely hire you again.â

âBenson had an absolutely wonderful time with Helena!! Helena is so conscientious- twice daily updates with pictures! The house is immaculate when we return - highly recommend Helena!!!â

âCeleste was an absolutely wonderful dog sitter. She was communicative, thoughtful, and consistently kept me updated, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was clear she genuinely cared about my dog, and seeing how happy and comfortable my dog was in her presence meant everything to me. I could tell my dog felt safe, loved, and well cared for the entire time. I would absolutely trust Celeste again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.â

âAllison was great!!! She watched our golden retriever (Shockoe) at our house for 3 days. She sent lots of updates and handled Shockoeâs food and medicine needs like a pro. Will definitely have her back!â

I will be available all day on weekdays so I can spend nights in the pets home for overnights if necessary . I can't do weekends because I have a 2nd job. â ď¸ Im only available until-august 7 I have 2 ESA cats . One is a black domestic shorthair named Shadow The Hedgehog . The other is a tabby named Silver The Hedgehog
âCatherine was truly an angel, and I honestly donât think we could have asked for a better sitter! She stayed with our two dogs for about a week while we were out of town, and during that time our air conditioning unexpectedly went out for two days. Instead of leaving or making it our problem, she handled everything with so much patience and grace, communicated with us throughout, and stayed with the dogs the entire time to make sure they were comfortable and cared for. She even coordinated with our landlord, who later told us she was the best house sitter/Rover heâd ever met - which says a lot! When we got home, our dogs were so happy, relaxed, and completely themselves. There was zero stress or adjustment period, and honestly, I donât even think they missed us with Catherine around! đ She went so far above and beyond what anyone could reasonably expect, and itâs obvious she genuinely loves the animals she cares for. We would trust her with our home and our pups again in a heartbeat. If youâre considering booking Catherine, do it - you (and your pets) will be incredibly lucky to have her! đđźâ

About: Iâm going into my junior year at Virginia Tech with years of hands-on experience caring for dogs, cats, and small animals. Iâve grown up with pets my whole life and currently have a yellow lab at home in Richmond named Cheddar so Iâm very comfortable with all ages, sizes, and energy levels. Iâve pet-sat for friends, neighbors, and family including overnight stays, feeding routines, daily walks, and giving pets lots of attention and playtime. Iâve also cared for fish and hamsters, so Iâm confident with small-pet needs too. I treat every pet like theyâre my own! Iâm happy to come to your home for pet care. Since I live in a college house most of the year, I actually prefer visiting your home where your pet is most comfortable. You can always text me to check my availability, and Iâll work around your schedule as best as I can. I have a car, so getting to your home is easy, and Iâm happy to take your pet on walks or follow their normal routine. When caring for pets in a clientâs home, I focus on keeping their routine as familiar and stress free as possible. I make sure doors are secure, food and water are refreshed, and any instructions you give me are followed exactly. Iâm respectful of your space, and I treat your home with the same care and responsibility I treat your pet. Whether itâs walks, playtime, or quiet company, I make sure your pet feels safe while youâre away!
âMcKenzie is a pro - very responsive, excellent communication and a great caregiver to our Stella - she goes the extra mile to ensure comfort for your pet and takes great care of your home when sitting. Could not recommend her more.â

âAda stayed overnight at my house with Bailey. She did an excellent job. Bailey loved her. She walked Bailey in the neighborhood and cuddled with her...No wonder Bailey loves her. She also left my house very nice and clean after staying there for 5 days. I will definitely call her again when Bailey needs a sitter.â

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lorraine
Allison is awesome. The fist time she came over I was showing her around the house and my shy dog walked right over to her and sat down next to her. The last time she stayed at the house my flight was canceled and I had to fly out the next day. I was letting her know what was happening and she was the one that asked if I needed her to stay another night. My dogs love her and she loves them. And the house is always in good order upon my return.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitterâs presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lorraine walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your homeâs security or appliances.
Itâs helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lorraine maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate theyâll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your petâs profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lorraine choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Roverâs commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justiceâs National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
