Dog-Friendly Cities Ranked By Most Common Pet Parent Personality Traits
Are you a more eco-friendly or indulgent dog owner? Where you live might offer a clue according to a recent Rover.com survey of more than 5,000 dog owners.
Rover’s extensive dog owner database and knowledge of pet parent preferences helped identify five top personality traits: active, indulgent, obsessed, sociable, and eco-friendly. Dog owners were then surveyed to find out which personality traits reign supreme in 10 major U.S. cities, including Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, and San Francisco.
The National Ranking
Five cities rose to the top of our ranking: Denver, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, and Los Angeles. Denver tops the list of most active dog owners, Chicago has the most indulgent dog owners, San Francisco pet parents allege to be the most obsessed with their dogs, Boston dog owners are the most sociable around, and in Los Angeles dog owners are all about that eco-friendly mindset.

Most Active
These dog owners make it a point to include their pups in all of their active endeavors, from daily runs to weekend hikes.
Most Indulgent
These well-to-do dog owners are willing to spend top dollar on their pups, making their dog’s expenses a high priority.
Most Obsessed
You won’t see these dog owners without their dogs—they’re known for taking their furry BFFs pretty much everywhere they go.
Most Sociable
Expect an enthusiastic “Hello!” and “Can I pet your dog?” when you meet this friendly group of dog owners.
Most Eco-Friendly
