“I couldn’t have asked for a better, Pet Sitter! Leaving my cat while I was on vacation is never easy but from the moment I met Theresa, I knew they were in excellent hands. She is attentive, reliable, and genuinely caring. She really took the time to get to know my cats, so they were comfortable around her. And I was so thankful she was able and willing to give insulin injections to my diabetic cat. I especially appreciated the regular updates, photos, and little notes about how each visit went. It gave me so much peace of mind. It’s such a relief to find someone who treats your pets like their own. I would absolutely trust Theresa again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a responsible, compassionate, and top-notch Pet Sitter!”

“We always try to book Billie Jo first anytime we’re out of town! She’s so sweet to our kitties. Thanks for always taking such great care of Artichoke and now Betty, too! ☺️”

“Our dogs love their visits from Kyle and we love knowing we have someone we can trust popping by to take care of them. Kyle is a great communicator and really helped us navigate our care needs.”

About: I’ve had dogs all my life and it seemed the family dogs always gravitated toward me. I can’t imagine life without them! I’ve been caring for other’s dogs ever since I got my drivers license. The first dog I watched for a family (a beautiful Alaskan husky) had diabetes and required diabetic shots twice a day. Even though it hurt to have to give him shots, I loved having the opportunity to care for dogs other than my own. Since then I’ve had the opportunity of being the go-to dog watcher for several families with several different dog (and cat) breeds. I will make every effort to give your dog the same care that I was able to give Skyler and the rest of the dogs I’ve had the great fortune of watching and taking care of. There’s not many things that give me more joy than spending time with dogs. Now that I have more time on my hands in my 30’s I have recently gotten connected with volunteering with KC Pet Project. Dogs deserve all the love in the world. I currently work from home Monday and Friday so in addition to the weekend, it opens up availability to be present for the doggie. I’m in the office Tuesday - Thursday but available for morning/evening and quick bathroom breaks over lunch. I have a fenced in backyard and ample space inside the house to make your dog comfortable. I can crate if needed, but also have rooms that can function as “dog” rooms for the periods when I need to leave the house. I have my own Belgian Malinois, who mostly does her own thing. :)
“Jenna is one of the most honest loyal person I have meant. This is the second time she has sat with my cat, and I can not say enough about Jenna, she is a life saver. She made feel so safe, and when you give someone a key to your home, safe is what you need. Jenna did that and more, I believe she deserves a raise or bonus, for representing Rover.com, to the up most quality, that she gave. And to the care she gave my cat!!!😀 Thank you Jenna”

About: I grew up on a farm with many types of animals and hard work. I have worked in veterinary clinics as a kennel attendant and now a veterinary assistant for over 10 years. I have experience with dogs, cats, and exotic pets. I'm comfortable caring for elderly and sick pets as well as giving medications. I live and work in the Liberty MO area. I am an early morning person and can do early morning drop in visits and walks before 7 am (including weekends and holidays). I typically get my lunch break between 12-2 pm. I can come and do a drop in visit or do a short walk over my break. Evenings are a possibility but are less flexible and open. I can offer enrichment with treats, playtime and exercise. I like a good cuddle session as well as a hyper wrestling match, or active fetch game. I enjoy being out in God's creation and am open to more nature based walks if you have an active curious pup (like my own dog). I think cats should also be enriched and loved. I like playing games with cats and helping them feel comfortable and spoiled. I have owned a lizard of my own and am not afraid of reptiles or rodents. I think exotic pets need enrichment, entertainment, and love as well.
“Mya was fantastic. She stepped in at the drop of a hat to help us out after our previous sitter had gone MIA while we were out of town. Her communication was FANTASTIC - she was prompt, attentive, left detailed notes of her visits and sent so many photos! We were so grateful to her for not only her great care of our two pups, but also the level of responsiveness and care that we received from her. If we ever go out of town again, I will certainly contact Mya and would recommend her to anyone!!”

“Kody took care of my two pugs for almost a month and he goes beyond what I ask him to do, he walks them late night and played with them after, he is also very easy to talk to, willing to do stuff that is not part of the job. Definitely someone I will be calling again the next time I will go out of town. Thank you very much”

About: I have had many animals over the years. As I child, we had so many breeds of dogs. From Saint Bernard, Great Dane, and Bull Mastiff. To sheep dogs and small mixed breed dogs. We currently bace 1 cat, who is the chillest, sweetest cat I’ve ever known. We have 5 kids, who LOVE animals. Your sweet fur baby won’t even know you are gone, with all the love they would get at our house. I was laid off in 2024, so I am currently home with our toddler, while the big kids are at school. So your fur baby would have someone with them all day! We have a big fenced in yard, and a great neighborhood for walks! Your fur baby would be well loved in our care. I am currently home with our 1 year old daughter. My oldest are in school. We go to the gym a few times a week, and do some reselling on the side. But we are never gone for very long and can give your fur baby lots of love and attention. I have a fenced yard, with a 6 foot fence. So your fur baby will be safe! We have plenty of space to crate if needed. We also have a cat tree and lots of good hiding spots for more timid kitties.
“Kristina was wonderful! She loved my dog and you could tell she loves all animals! My vacation was extended, unexpectedly, due to an hospital admission. and she even picked up the extra shifts which helped alleviate my stress immensely. So I highly recommend Kristina!”

The way I care for pets in my home or a client's home depends on the specific service being provided. Here are a few scenarios: In the client's home: Pet Sitting: When providing pet sitting services at a client's home, I make sure to replicate the pet's daily routine as closely as possible. This includes feeding them according to their usual schedule, providing fresh water, cleaning litter boxes, taking dogs for walks, and engaging in playtime or exercise based on their specific needs. I also offer companionship and affection to help reduce any separation anxiety they may experience. Drop-in Visits: During drop-in visits, I visit the client's home at scheduled times to check on their pets. I ensure they have food and water, clean litter boxes, let dogs out for bathroom breaks, and spend quality time with them, offering play and affection. Dog Walking: For dog walking services, I take the dogs on stimulating walks to provide exercise, mental stimulation, and an opportunity for bathroom breaks. I follow any instructions regarding route preferences, leash handling, or specific behavioral considerations. Regardless of the service provided, the well-being, safety, and happiness of the pets are my top priorities. I strive to create a comfortable and nurturing environment, maintain their regular routines, and shower them with love and attention, just as their owners would.

We are so glad to have found Sam! Our babies love him. My husband is usually very uptight until we know the sitter has arrived. This time he only asked the first night, he didn’t give a second thought afterwards because he knew Sam would be there. Thank you Sam for being so sweet and dependable.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,256 sitters on Rover offering Cat Sitting across Birmingham. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Birmingham. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
