About: I’ve had dogs all my life and it seemed the family dogs always gravitated toward me. I can’t imagine life without them! I’ve been caring for other’s dogs ever since I got my drivers license. The first dog I watched for a family (a beautiful Alaskan husky) had diabetes and required diabetic shots twice a day. Even though it hurt to have to give him shots, I loved having the opportunity to care for dogs other than my own. Since then I’ve had the opportunity of being the go-to dog watcher for several families with several different dog (and cat) breeds. I will make every effort to give your dog the same care that I was able to give Skyler and the rest of the dogs I’ve had the great fortune of watching and taking care of. There’s not many things that give me more joy than spending time with dogs. Now that I have more time on my hands in my 30’s I have recently gotten connected with volunteering with KC Pet Project. Dogs deserve all the love in the world. I currently work from home Monday and Friday so in addition to the weekend, it opens up availability to be present for the doggie. I’m in the office Tuesday - Thursday but available for morning/evening and quick bathroom breaks over lunch. I have a fenced in backyard and ample space inside the house to make your dog comfortable. I can crate if needed, but also have rooms that can function as “dog” rooms for the periods when I need to leave the house. I have my own Belgian Malinois, who mostly does her own thing. :)

Billie Jo is amazing! We have a temperamental rescue and she was fantastic with him. Knew exactly how to handle him and when not to push. It made me feel at ease knowing our pup was taken care of while we weren’t home.

About: I grew up on a farm with many types of animals and hard work. I have worked in veterinary clinics as a kennel attendant and now a veterinary assistant for over 10 years. I have experience with dogs, cats, and exotic pets. I'm comfortable caring for elderly and sick pets as well as giving medications. I live and work in the Liberty MO area. I am an early morning person and can do early morning drop in visits and walks before 7 am (including weekends and holidays). I typically get my lunch break between 12-2 pm. I can come and do a drop in visit or do a short walk over my break. Evenings are a possibility but are less flexible and open. I can offer enrichment with treats, playtime and exercise. I like a good cuddle session as well as a hyper wrestling match, or active fetch game. I enjoy being out in God's creation and am open to more nature based walks if you have an active curious pup (like my own dog). I think cats should also be enriched and loved. I like playing games with cats and helping them feel comfortable and spoiled. I have owned a lizard of my own and am not afraid of reptiles or rodents. I think exotic pets need enrichment, entertainment, and love as well.

Abigail was simply amazing with the dogs! She was very good with them, send frequent updates when she walked them, including pictures! You could see the happiness in their faces, and that they were enjoying their time with Abigail. It was a huge relief to know that they were being taken care of when I couldn't be there for them. I would recommend Abigail to anyone!

About: One of the things that sets me apart is my firsthand experience caring for high-energy, intelligent breeds. I have two Huskies and a Samoyed, so I’m very familiar with the exercise, structure, and attention these dogs need to thrive. I understand that active breeds aren’t just looking for a quick potty break—they need engagement, mental stimulation, and plenty of activity. Because I care for three dogs every day, I’m comfortable managing multiple pets, maintaining routines, and recognizing when a dog needs extra attention or a little more space. Whether your dog loves long walks, playing fetch, or simply relaxing with company, I’ll make sure they receive personalized care based on their personality and your preferences. I’m dependable, organized, and know how important communication is when you’re away from your pet. I’ll provide regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your dog is safe, happy, and being treated like one of my own. My goal is simple: to provide the same level of care, patience, and attention that I give my own Huskies and Samoyed every single day. Pet care is my full time focus, so your pet will receive plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship throughout the day. I’m available for boarding, daycare, drop-in visits, and walks on both weekdays and weekends, and I can accommodate early mornings, evenings, and many last-minute requests. I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you always know how your pet is doing. Your pet will be welcomed into a home with years of experience caring for active, large-breed dogs. I currently have two Huskies and a Samoyed, so I’m comfortable with high-energy dogs, different personalities, and maintaining consistent routines. I have a securely fenced yard, closely supervise all playtime, and can separate dogs if needed to ensure everyone stays safe and comfortable. I follow each pet’s feeding schedule, medication instructions, and any special care requests, treating every dog like one of my own.

About: For most of my life I have owned a dog and for all of my life I have loved dogs! As I kid, I helped care for my family dog, Dexter, until he was 17 years old. Currently, my wife and I have a 28 lb. Beagle/Lab mix Riley. She's such a joy in our lives. I know how important your dog is to you, so I will care for yours like she/he is mine, with lots of love, playtime, walks and great care. Now that I’m a stay-at-home dad I have so much more time to spend with Riley and you’re dog, too! From young puppies to seniors, I have cared for a wide range of sizes, needs, and breeds. Each dog requires special care and I am here to provide just that. I am willing to make most requests and special accommodations. Ask and I will let you know if I can meet your needs. In addition to walking and visiting with your dog, communication and updates are important services that I provide. When I am away from my pet, I want to know she's okay and receiving the best care. I'll send as many or as little photos of your fur baby as you'd like, so you can confidently know that she/he is being take care of; the photos will also give you a little smile to get you through the day. We also have a 9 year old cat, Moby. He keeps to himself and his cat tree on most days, but we occasionally receive some lap visits from him.

With a calm and laid-back demeanor, I prioritize building trust with your furry friends, hoping to win their affection along the way. Equipped with experience from puppy training classes, I'm confident in my ability to handle even the most energetic puppies. Additionally, I am trained in dog CPR, ensuring the safety of your beloved pets. As a former collegiate softball player, I maintain excellent physical fitness, enabling me to keep up with your dogs throughout the day effortlessly. If you have any further inquiries, please don't hesitate to contact me. As someone who works from home, pet care seamlessly integrates into my daily routine. With the flexibility of my schedule, I have the privilege of being available for your pets throughout the day. This means I can provide them with the attention, care, and companionship they need. Whether it's feeding, exercise, playtime, or administering any necessary medications, I can be there to tend to their needs promptly. Additionally, I understand the importance of maintaining a consistent routine for pets, so I ensure that their feeding and exercise schedules align with their usual habits. Rest assured, your furry companions will receive dedicated care and supervision, as I am always present and ready to meet their needs. The way I care for pets in my home or a client's home depends on the specific service being provided. Here are a few scenarios: In the client's home: Pet Sitting: When providing pet sitting services at a client's home, I make sure to replicate the pet's daily routine as closely as possible. This includes feeding them according to their usual schedule, providing fresh water, cleaning litter boxes, taking dogs for walks, and engaging in playtime or exercise based on their specific needs. I also offer companionship and affection to help reduce any separation anxiety they may experience. Drop-in Visits: During drop-in visits, I visit the client's home at scheduled times to check on their pets. I ensure they have food and water, clean litter boxes, let dogs out for bathroom breaks, and spend quality time with them, offering play and affection. Dog Walking: For dog walking services, I take the dogs on stimulating walks to provide exercise, mental stimulation, and an opportunity for bathroom breaks. I follow any instructions regarding route preferences, leash handling, or specific behavioral considerations. Regardless of the service provided, the well-being, safety, and happiness of the pets are my top priorities. I strive to create a comfortable and nurturing environment, maintain their regular routines, and shower them with love and attention, just as their owners would.

About: I've been around animals my entire life and understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pets. I grew up with dogs and have years of hands-on experience caring for animals of different personalities and needs. Currently, I have a large, energetic dog and a bunny of my own, so I'm comfortable caring for both dogs and small animals. I also previously volunteered as a foster for a local humane society, where I cared for dogs as they adjusted to new environments and prepared for their forever homes. That experience taught me patience, how to read animal body language, and how to help pets feel safe and comfortable. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply a calm companion, I'll make sure they receive the same love, attention, and care that I give my own pets. My goal is to provide a safe, fun, and stress-free experience while you're away, giving you peace of mind that your furry family member is in caring hands. I am currently on summer break so my schedule is pretty flexible. After summers I am free for drop ins in the morning and after school, and weekends! I have worked with dogs of all sizes and personalities. I look forward to loving your pup like my own for a short time! I will send updates and pictures while you are away!

Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-on-one walking services.

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Birmingham. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Report cards require photos and can include a map of the walking route , total walk time, poop and pee breaks, and distance traveled, so you know exactly where your dog has been walking in Birmingham.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Birmingham. On Rover:

  • 92% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
