“Our dog Odie is one lucky pup. It’s been awhile since he stayed at a sitter’s home and as an older dog, we were hoping that he’d be fine with this newer experience in care. He did so well under the genuine loving care that Kathryn provided. She kept us apprised of Odie’s status with photos and reports. Her home is a lovely dog-friendly place to be with a beautiful and large fenced-in yard. My husband and I are truly more than happy to recommend Kathryn’s wonderful caregiving, without hesitation. Thanks, Kathryn!!”

“Kayla was such a wonderful dog sitter. She was so sweet and caring and my puppy was so happy staying with her. She even sent us a picture each day and let us know how our puppy was doing. Would loved to book her again in the future.”

About: My husband and I live in a cabin in the woods (literally!) and have been dog owners our whole lives. We have our own 12 year old mixed breed dog and a fenced in back yard area for the dogs to mingle and do business as they please. My husband works from home and makes his own schedule, so we make sure your pet(s) are getting the care and attention they need. We also do not take more than one dog sitting gig at a time so that our dog and your dog(s) establish a pack and are comfortable and safe in our home. My husband works from home 5 days a week and makes his own schedule. I work from home Mondays and Fridays and any weekend travel is updated through our app months in advance We are hyper aware of any changes in your pets disposition, eating and drinking behavior, and we always pick up #2 from our yard so we are very in-tune to any changes in the bathroom department 🤣. We know first-hand that it can be stressful leaving your pet at an unfamiliar home and find that having another dog around (as well as a dog cam in the house) helps them relax while also allowing us to make sure they’re adjusting okay even if we are out running errands. We make sure that the dogs are never home alone for longer than 4 hours maximum, and are well exercised before any time they’re left alone. We also do let them sleep on the couches and make sure they get plenty of cuddles during their stay with us.

“I can't say enough great things about Jonathan and the care he provides for my two babies Louie and Chase. Like many pet owners, my babies mean the world to me and it takes a lot for me to trust someone with them. Jonathan cares for my dogs as if they were his own. He is extremely professional, responsible, and caring. His scheduling system is very easy to use and he provides very personalized care easy to reach and gives updates after her visits. He is very flexible and reliable and has made my life much easier. I highly recommend Jonathan to anyone looking for a dog sitting service.”

“Catherine was wonderful with Josie, she attended to every one of her needs and treated her like the true diva that she is! He had lots of playmates and returned tired, happy, and well cared for. Will absolutely be reaching out again next time we have a need!”

“Diana was amazing. She sent us pictures of our dog throughout the stay, and it was clear that our dog was cared for with so much love. I never felt worried or wondered how our dog was doing because I knew he was in great hands.”

“Another great stay at Stephen’s home for our dog Bowie. She looked so comfortable with Stephen’s other two dogs when I came to pick her up. Additional bonus, Stephen was flexible for an earlier pick up as we got home earlier in the day. Highly recommend!”

“The best with my girl Persephone. She was able to take her in very last minute and was very very flexible. I really appreciate all of her help and the way she was with Persephone during this tough transitional period. Loved all the pictures and videos she sent and I noticed that Persephone became less stressed overtime which I love. Highly recommend Madalys to everyone!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Bethel
Rich was flat out amazing with our Pitbull mix, Salem. He welcomed her perfectly into a group of canine buddies and Rich’s command over all of the dogs in his care was evident. Rich provided us with daily videos and pics of our girl - playing, chasing, and being goofy! I couldn’t think of another person I’d rather have watching Salem. Fantastic experience!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
