“Once again, Charlie, the pug had an outstanding time with Peachy and Abby! Even though there was a lot of ice and snow , Charlie and Peachy got to frolic around and get nice and tired together. Always appreciate all the videos. Charlie the pug will most certainly be back!!!”

“Eric took such wonderful care of my 7 lb dog, Shelby! Shelby is a small pup who needs a lot of extra love and attention, and Eric made sure she felt safe, cozy, and completely showered with affection the entire time. I was updated regularly and had total peace of mind knowing Shelby was in such gentle, caring hands. It can be so hard to find someone you trust, but Eric went above and beyond. We will definitely be rebooking!”

“Tyler took amazing care of my senior dog, Tyler— yes, Tyler took care of Tyler. ? They had a good time together that was evidenced by the pictures received every three hours. It was my first time leaving Tyler at all in over 6 months, so was quite nervous. For someone as worried as I am, I felt safe leaving Tyler with Tyler and will definitely book them again in the future if they’re willing. I can tell that Tyler genuinely cares for the animals they dog sit for and that’s very important to me— TOP NOTCH CARE!!”
“Wendy and her husband took great care of my dog and sent me updates during the day. Zoe can be shy and sensitive at first with new people, but she warmed up to them so quickly! Their dog Hero is so cute and playful as well. I would recommend her, and Zoe looks forward to her next daycare there!”

“Melissa and her pack are wonderful!! She took great care of Luna and sent pics/videos throughout the day. I felt at ease knowing My fur baby was in great hands! Luna fit right in with her pack; they were super sweet and adorable! I would highly recommend Melissa and will definitely book again!”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs and cats for over 20 years and truly treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. I understand that every pet has their own personality and needs, so I take the time to make them feel comfortable, safe, and happy while you’re away. I’ll always keep you updated with photos and messages, so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in caring and dependable hands. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. About: What truly sets me apart is my lifelong, hands-on experience as a devoted pet parent — especially with senior dogs and emotionally sensitive pets. I cared for my beloved senior dog Rocki for 14 years, supporting him through every stage of life, including the extra patience, gentleness, and attentiveness senior dogs need. Today, I share my life with my dog River and also help care for my partner’s 16-year-old senior dog, so I am very comfortable with senior care, slower mobility, routine-based needs, and gentle handling. I’m highly attentive to body language, emotional comfort, and stress signals, which helps me support anxious, sensitive, or aging dogs in a calm and reassuring way. My home provides a safe, structured, and loving environment where dogs can feel secure and relaxed. I’m also patient and consistent with younger dogs, helping reinforce routines, calm behavior, and positive habits through gentle guidance and structure. Every dog in my care is treated like family with safety, emotional awareness, patience, and genuine love. Pet care is a natural part of my daily life. I structure my days around consistent walks, feeding schedules, playtime, and calm rest periods for my own dog, River, as well as my partner’s senior dog. Because caring for animals is already part of my everyday routine, I’m able to provide dependable, attentive, and structured care for pets staying with me. I prioritize supervision, emotional comfort, and routine so every dog feels safe, relaxed, and cared for throughout the day. In my home, pets are treated like family in a calm, safe, and loving environment. I follow each dog’s normal routine closely, including feeding, potty breaks, walks, playtime, medication (if needed), and plenty of rest and comfort. I pay close attention to body language, emotional needs, and stress signals to ensure every dog feels secure and relaxed. My home includes a fenced backyard for safe outdoor time, cozy indoor rest areas, and close supervision throughout the day. In a client’s home, I respect their space and maintain their pet’s established routine to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I provide gentle, attentive care, ensure safety, and send regular updates with photos so pet parents always feel reassured while they’re away.

“Christopher is great! Our Boodles was in daycare yesterday. Chris was attentive and quickly responded to questions. Also asked good questions about Boodles and provided great short videos during the day! Highly recommend!”

He came to pick Tofu up from our wedding venue (we had her as part of the ceremony but she wasn't able to stay afterwards) and dropped her off after our wedding reception was done. Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
