“Olivia was very attentive to our needs for Leila. She shared some great videos with us which made us feel relaxed & happy that our girl was well taken care of.”

“We had a great experience with our dog sitter! Cash was well taken care of, and it gave us peace of mind knowing he was in good hands while we were away. We really appreciated the care and attention he received. We would definitely recommend and book again!”

“Jennifer took great care of my very active foster dog over Thanksgiving. She sent updates with pictures regularly. It was clear that Ramsey felt comfortable with Jennifer and her family and was well cared for.”

About: I have been around dogs since I was born. My parents have always had at least one dog running around the house, and I now have one myself that lives with me! Layla has gotten me through some tough times and with that being said I know how important dogs (and cats) are in our lives. I would love to be a sitter, walker, and caregiver to anyone's furry necessity! I am a full time student! Which means that I usually have school all week! I am free after 5pm every day of the week and on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays all day! I have my 3 year old dog named Layla that is very friendly to all dogs! She is playful and loves to meet new friends! I walk her 3-4 times daily because I don't have a fenced yard. This will also be the case if I am boarding a dog! If your dog is crate trained I have a medium sized crate that they can sleep in overnight! I am open to walking as often as needed and will follow routines to a tee! I also live with my boyfriend as a heads up! He is lovely pet owner and loves my girl like she is his own!
“Cosette and her daughter took great care of Honey while I was away! Honey was a little nervous and had a hard time eating so she pulled out all the tricks to ensure she ate while we were gone!”

“Taylor took great care of our 17 year old senior pup. She has an array of age-related needs, and he made sure she was comfortable, eating regularly, and getting outside...and all of those things are challenging for her at this point. I would highly recommend him!”

“Andrew and Erin, I’ve been the best pet sitters we could ask for! Our little multi-Pooh, Chloe, absolutely loves them, and has a great time with them! They are very communicative, kind and send lots of pictures and updates. It makes leaving her so much easier knowing that she’s having a great time while I’m gone.”

About: I grew up working on a farm and have always had dogs in my life. I have a sweet goldendoodle of my own. Currently attending dog grooming school at CFCC! 🐕 🐾 I work from home and have a pretty flexible schedule. Enjoy being outdoors and would love to meet some new furry friends to join me! I have extensive pet sitting experience and will love yours like my own. I prioritize being present with your pet and communicating if any questions arise. *I DO NOT ACCEPT RESERVATIONS AT HOTELS*
About: We are a family of six with four young children, and we absolutely love animals! Since we work from home, your pet will have plenty of attention, love, and companionship throughout the day. We have a fully fenced backyard where we spend lots of time playing outside, so your dog will have plenty of opportunities for exercise, playtime, and fresh air. We will treat your furry family member like one of our own, making sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you're away. Since we work from home, we are available to provide constant care, playtime, potty breaks, outdoor exercise, and plenty of love for every pet in our home. We have a fully fenced in backyard with a 6 foot privacy fence in a safe, quiet neighborhood. Since we don’t have a dog, we are looking to love on one!
“So grateful we found Emma! Professional and passionate about caring for dogs. She made us feel comfortable and kept in touch sending pictures and text messages. We were cautious as our 13 year old spaniel has not been left with anyone other than family for many years. We’ve already rebooked! Donna”

“Sue-Ling was amazing with my pup. It was his first time ever being boarded away from me and she kept me updated on him and how he was doing. She was very attentive. I will be booking with her again!”

About: Dogs have always been a big part of my life! I grew up with dogs in my family, so caring for them and being around them has always come naturally to me. Over the years, I’ve gained plenty of hands-on experience with feeding, walking, playing, bathing, and keeping dogs happy and comfortable. My boyfriend also grew up with dogs, so we’re both very comfortable around them and genuinely love having them around. I understand that every pup has their own personality and routine, and I’m happy to adapt to their individual needs to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while they’re with us. I’m new to Rover, but definitely not new to caring for dogs! I work from home, which gives me plenty of flexibility throughout the day to give your pup lots of attention, walks, and playtime. I live downtown and love walking, so having a furry companion join me on my daily walks would be a plus! I also live a very active lifestyle, and on the weekends my boyfriend and I love getting out and about. We live by ourselves and have plenty of time to make sure your pup gets all the attention and care they need. I’ve grown up with dogs and absolutely love having them around, so I would treat your pup just like my own! My apartment complex has a fenced-in dog park where they can safely play and get some exercise. Since my boyfriend and I live by ourselves, we can provide a calm, comfortable environment with plenty of attention. I’m also happy to follow your pup’s normal routine, feeding schedule, walks, and any specific instructions you provide so they feel as comfortable and at home as possible.
About: Aside from having animals my entire life, I’ve always been the go-to pet sitter for family and friends. I care for every pet like they’re my own and make sure they feel loved, comfortable, and safe while you’re away. I intentionally spend quality time with each animal — whether that means playtime, walks, cuddles, sticking to routines, or just keeping them company throughout the day. I’m patient with shy pets, attentive to senior animals, and happy to help reinforce training for puppies as well. Since I work from home, pets get lots of attention and companionship instead of being left alone for long periods. My goal is to make your pets feel happy, relaxed, and cared for while giving you peace of mind too 🐾 I work from home full time and have a very flexible schedule where I can work anywhere and take many breaks. I can take same day/emergency request as well. I give lots of attention throughout the day, whether that’s play, cuddles, enrichment activities, or just being nearby so they don’t feel alone. I’m also very mindful of each pet’s personality — some love constant interaction, while others prefer a more relaxed and quieter environment, and I adjust accordingly.
About: The summer I graduated from college I created a side gig in which I walked and sat dogs and cats for folks in the Brunswick Forest community of Leland, NC. My name was semi-well known in the community for a few months as I helped out many people in BF. In addition, walking and sitting dogs and cats is something I’ve been doing for the past few months. My sister has Rover account and she’s walks and sits pets. She gives me all of the gigs she doesn’t have the time for. Now I figured it’s time for me to create an account of my own! I currently work 40 hours a week. Aside from the fact that I’ll have to be gone at work for 5-8 hours most days out of the week, I’ll be very available for your dog/cat. I’m available for boarding any day of any week. As far as boarding goes, I’ve spent nights at customers places of residence and I’ve also invited dogs/cats into my apartment when the customer prefers that. I’m okay with both(keeping in mind there’s a 100% chance your dog or cat would prefer to remain in their own territory). If your dog or cat is going to be staying at my place, I only ask that they are potty trained. If a dog walking service is something you’d like me to do, we would have to schedule things on a weekly basis, as my schedule changes every week. I would have to walk your dog either before or after my shift. If walking your dog is something you’d like me to do for you on a multi-weekly basis, then I would let you know my work schedule at the beginning of every week and we would plan the walks for the week from there. I never fail to keep anyone updated. I only get 30 mins for lunch and my apartment is 15 mins away from my place of work. So, driving back to my place or someone else’s place to tend to a pet during my lunch wouldn’t be an option. Walking a dog during my lunch would be equally impossible. But, like I said, I’d be willing to walk a dog directly before or after a work shift. I live in an apartment in Birchwood Park, on Birchwood Drive. So, I don’t have a backyard. However, if you ever come over to my apartment complex you’d discover that’s there’s quite a bit of open and grassy space within the confines of the complex. My point being, if I invite your dog to my apartment then it’s not a problem for me to take them outside every 2-3 hours, or however often you’d prefer. It should go without saying that directly before I leave for a work shift I will always make sure your dog has been taken outside to go to the bathroom. I’ll also take them on a walk if that’s something you’d like me to do. And as always, I’ll make sure they’re fed before I leave. I’ll also take them out, feed them, and/or walk them as soon as I return from work. I will follow your instructions exactly the way you intended for them to be followed. I won’t miss a beat or a step. If sending you pictures of your dog or cat while you’re away is something that you’d like me to do, then I can do that. When your dog or cat(or any pet for that matter) is in my care, then you may truly be at ease. I love dogs and cats alike. I love playing and interacting with them.
“Valerie was amazing with our boys (American Bully and mini dachshund with very different personalities) & she handled both without batting an eye. The updates she sent weren’t just walk photos; we got silly faces, pouty looks, and full documentation of the misbehavior. Knowing they were happy and in good hands made traveling so much less stressful. Highly recommend her!”

“Helena gave so much love to our dog and she has a comfortable and trustworthy environment. I felt I did not need to worry while on vacation. She took detailed notes since our pet has a special diet, and she seemed to enjoy cuddling and exercising our pet.”

“We loved Robb! He communicated continuously, both verbally and with photos and videos. Always asked questions if he had concerns. He took Bella on all kinds of activities, and she seemed very comfortable with Robb. Thank you, Robb, for taking care of our baby!”

“Andrea was quick to accommodate our last minute booking and did a wonderful job keeping us updated during our dog - Lupine’s stay with her. Lupine came home happy, relaxed and tired after her sleepover. She can be shy around excited people but Andrea and her home seemed like a calm respite. I would definitely recommend Andrea and will use her again when we’re in the area.”

Emma was wonderful! She is very communicative, has a lovely home and yard, and the cutest dogs. My dog got along with hers because they were very friendly. Emma was quick to reply, she gave me peace of mind on my unexpected trip out of town for a funeral. She sent pics and videos and gave updates throughout the day. I will definitely use her for all future bookings!!!

Wow!!! What a gift to have found Raquel for a long holiday weekend on short notice. She was responsive, she sent updates each day, and she made sure to keep our dog healthy with his severe allergy to chicken! We can tell our young and energetic puppy had an amazing time running around her big beautiful yard and got to spend time with other dogs during his boarding! We will 100% be asking Raquel to be a sitter again in the future after this wonderful experience!!

Carey was the absolute best dog sitter I could ever ask for!! She was so so helpful and patient and made me feel so at ease taking care of my high-energy German Shepherd, Lady. It’s always a bit nerve-racking to leave your dog with someone new, and especially so when your dog is a handful like my Lady! But Carey truly went above and beyond my expectations, and even when Lady had some frustrating anxiety issues, Carey took care of it without complaint, which seriously meant the world to me. She also sent me lots of photos every day and kept me super updated!! Book Carey for your next dog sitter and you will be so glad you did!!

I should start off by saying this was an emergency last minute booking that Faith was able to accommodate! She made things so smooth and heart felt; within 24 hours she allowed me to visit her residence to get a feel for where my lil man 🐕 would be staying. I could tell she would be very attentive to him. Over the next 2 weeks she stayed up-to-date with me constantly, sending a pic or 2 each day and kind words to reflect how things were going. I had no worries at all! I let her know that I would be a tad late picking him up on the pick up day, and she kindly understood and was excited to see things through. I will most definitely be booking with her again!!

Abby was AMAZING. This was my first time leaving my dog with someone since moving to Charleston. Dolly went right with Abby and forgot all about me leaving as soon as they met! Abby sent updates, photos, and even took Dolly out for a pup cup at Ben & Jerry’s on her last day! We are so sad that she is moving to Wilmington, we would have loved to use her forever! We are wishing her so much success for her future & if she finds time to Rover in Wilmington, you should book with her with no hesitation!

Can’t say enough about Natalie and Chip, from the moment they were dropped off care was provided for Sampson as we discovered he had a issue going on we were afraid they might would of canceled there stay due to the situation he had, but they stepped right up and took wonderful care for these babies of ours. Thanks guys your awesome and for showing true love and care for our boxers.❤️🐾

What a great experience! This is my first time using Rover. Laine and her housemate were such sweeties to my big shepherd! Firstly she's a great communicator really responsive and clear. She did a great job of helping me orient to the platform and also to introduce our dogs. She asked really good inappropriate questions that made me feel reassured. She was thinking of everything. Such patience and ease. Her set up is just perfect for a dog because there's great big glass windows and you can see everything going on in the "play yard" everything's clean and lots of things for dogs to enjoy. And they seem pretty relaxed about having the dogs lounge with them and playing with them and it looked like my dog was having an absolute blast! Usually when I pick up my dog after being away she is like a rodeo horse so excited to see me! I think in this case she had so much fun she was OK with staying! I can't recommend Laine highly enough! Oh and did I mention that she did my booking last minute when I was filling in for a coworker! She's just great!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Bayshore home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Bayshore.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Bayshore sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
