“We were really nervous about our first boarding experience with our new puppy but Chris took such good care of her, it put our nerves to rest. She looked like she had such a good time in all of the photos he provided. Definitely recommend.”

“Jean was a loving caretaker of our pup while we were out of town! He got plenty of snuggles and attention. Loved that Jean sent us lots of picture updates!!”

“Amanda was great with my dog! She took care of her well and was very communicative. She has a great backyard for running around too, with is always a bonus. I would definitely take my dog back to her!”

“Anastasia did a FABULOUS job taking care of our puppy. She was very responsive to questions, was able to book us last minute, and our dog was in very good hands while we were away.”

“Abby had a great time with Stan. She returned home happy, healthy and wiped out from all the play time. We will be happy to have Abby stay with Stan again.”

“Took great care of our pup! Took her to do all her favorite things (car rides, hikes, etc). Kept us updated and sent photos. Everything was great! I would be happy to have her watch our dog again.”

“Veronica was great! Our dog Perla is 1 year old and very active and playful. She was kept busy with Veronicas two dogs for 12 days, which Perla seem to enjoy very much. Veronica is very knowledgeable about dogs and very patient. She kept us informed with pictures and videos. We will definitely use Veronica again.”

“Our pup Bijou had a wonderful vacation with Jamie and Nicole while we were away. She went on some nice walks, and a couple of longer hikes during her week with them. We feel very comfortable leaving her in their care. She is always well treated and loved during her stays.”

“Great sitters! They took good care of Cider, Millie, and Koda and kept us updated while we were away. We appreciated knowing our dogs were safe and well cared for. Thank you!”

“Rilo had another great stay with Hayleigh! He was so happy when we pulled up to the driveway, I could tell he is well cared for and has a lot of fun with everyone in the household during his stay! 10/10 will use again 😊”

“We are so grateful for Linda! She took such wonderful care of our dog, who has a spunky personality. Her daily updates were very thorough and gave us a great picture of his stay. Sometimes, it takes our dog a day or two to recover, but after his stay with Linda, he came home healthy, happy, and unstressed. It was his way of saying he had a wonderful time with Linda and can't wait to see her again.”

“Literally couldnt ask for a better dog sitter. She took him on so many adventures, constantly updating with pics and how he's adjusting to the new environment. She was also super sweet, I will absolutely be going back when I need another sitter. My doggo came back happy and wore out from all the playing. 10/10 highly recommend:)”

“Chelsea is an awesome dog sitter, she took pictures and videos during Stevie’s stay. Our dog has a little bit of separation anxiety and she handled it like a pro. Thanks for watching Stevie!”

“Marybeth and family took good care of our dog Toby for a week. I believe Toby had as good a vacation as we did! He got to play with Zoey and keep an eye on the cats. He spent time relaxing on the back deck watching the chickens. Working out the details with Marybeth was easy and she's quick to respond. She's obviously good with animals.”

“Leslie was absolutely fantastic! She took excellent care of our dog, Fred, providing a wonderfully caring and safe environment for him. It gave us such peace of mind to know he was in such good hands while we were away. We really enjoyed the daily updates and pictures she sent. Our dog can be quite shy around new places and people, so we were thrilled and pleased that things went so well. It was clear he was well-fed and loved. We won't hesitate to book with Leslie again!”

“Perla had a great time with lots of play! Elizabeth has a nice big home with lots of room to run around both inside and out. Her dog Lilo and Perla got along really well. We'll definitely be a repeat customer.”

“We are so sad to leave Nadine! Axel loves her and her crew and cannot recommend her enough to folks! Your animals will be loved on and taken care of. We will miss you so much!”

Keely was amazing with my corgi Buddha. He was. Way clearly working his cuteness to get whatever he wanted and she was good about humoring him lol. She provided plenty of updates every day which helped ease my mind while I was away. She went above and beyond to make sure he wasn’t sad and lonely. I really appreciate the communication and would def book her again!

Danielle took such great care of Poppy while I was traveling through Europe! Always hard to leave a loved pup for an extended period but I felt very comfortable Poppy was having a blast with her huskies and getting lots of love, and even got to sneak her way onto the bed as she is accustomed to

Chelsea and her husband were amazing. We left our 9 year old black lab with them for three nights while we were out of town and we could not have been more comforted that he was in good hands. Chelsea sent several photos and messages and was an amazing communicator. They are obviously big dog lovers and our dog clearly loved being at their house. Highly recommend!

I could not ask for a better person to walk and board my dog. She clearly loves dogs. Her communication is great - and sometimes really funny as she narrates a walk! She takes great care of my dog, and treats him so well. I am pretty sure my dog was annoyed with me for having to leave behind his new dog friends after having a blast with them.

We were in town for a concert and felt guilty for leaving our dog alone. Last minute, I nervously hopped on Rover for the first time. Noemi responded & we instantly knew she would be a good match for our 12 year old chiweenie. She is a great communicator and sent photos and updates throughout the day. Her dog Nina was a great companion for Bruno too. 10/10 will book with her next time we are in Portland!

This was Sampson’s second time staying with Theresa and she was wonderful once again! She is great at sending pictures and updates throughout his stay and I feel so comfortable knowing he is in great hands with her. She is clearly such an animal lover and takes great care of him. Would recommend to anyone in the area looking for dog care!

Lauren did a wonderful job with taking care of Zoe. great communication and provided plenty of pictures to ensure us of Zoes wellbeing and comfort. i appreciated the suggestions of a meet and greet prior to commitment. when we picked our pup up after a 3 day stay, she was in good spirits. we would definitely reach out to Lauren again for our pet boarding needs. thank you

Jaclyn and Scott were very empathetic to a last minute booking needed for me to travel and handle a family emergency, and they provided just the right level of updates and communication so that I could focus on what I needed to while knowing my boy Coconut was in good hands. He can sometimes take awhile to warm up to people but they were super sweet and he seemed immediately comfortable with them. When he's been anxious during a Rover experience, Coconut usually doesn't eat or play for a day or so after getting home while he decompresses, but after spending time with Jaclyn and Scott, Coconut immediately ate a big dinner and started playing with his toys right after we got home. He's a happy boy!

Linda was great! She took excellent care of Mops giving her plenty of walks and attention. And even some enrichment activities! She was very communicative and sent periodic pictures and pupdates, which always welcome and appreciated. We’ll definitely be reaching out again next time we need a sitter. Thanks Linda!

Tom and his partner are amazing, responsive, and caring. My dog was so excited to see them again, and she left their home in such a great mood. They always listen to my dog’s specific needs (meds, behavior) and take great intentional care of her. Would highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Battin home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Battin.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Battin sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OR ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
