“Allison was great! She sent us texts and pictures, and we could see how happy and comfortable our dogs were with her. Our dogs were welcomed like part of her family. We were very happy with her thoughtful and caring nature.”

“Christle was the best find for us hands down,Astro was treated like family the whole time he stayed with her. In the past we had to leave him at a kennel, and every time we picked him up he wanted to bolt out the door and run. With Christle it was a completely different story. He was happy and relaxed when we came to get him, not stressed at all. We got regular updates and pictures throughout his stay, which meant the world to us. Astro also celebrated events with Christle and her family, like he was one of their own. :) :) Thank you Christle, to you and your family, for taking such good care of my son!”

“Didn’t get to meet Inam but Jennifer was amazing with my Ralphie! She’s very patient and kind, all the good qualities needed to take great care of your pets. They sent pictures and updates almost every day which was much appreciated. Looked like my pup had a lot of fun. I’ll definitely be using their services again!”

“Chris was amazing with our Scruffy! We appreciated her photos and messages…and Scruffy appreciated the walks and the love! We highly recommend booking with her! Thank you, Chris ?❤️”

“We cannot thank Haoran and her husband enough for the incredible care they provided for our little geriatric Yorkie. Leaving an older dog with special needs is always a bit nerve-wracking, but Haoran was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and handled all of our dog's senior care requirements with patience and gentleness. It was so reassuring to see how much genuine care and kindness she demonstrated throughout the stay. If you are looking for truly kind dog watchers who will treat your pet like family, we highly recommend Haoran and her husband. We would definitely trust them with our little one again!”

“Our Bérneise Mountain dog-Otto had a wonderful visit with Jen & her family. It was wonderful to go away knowing he's happy and so welled cared for. Thanks again Jen!”

“I booked sort of last minute and wasn't able to make a meet and greet happen (though Abigale kindly offered) and I felt totally comfortable dropping my Bernie off. I got plenty of updates while away and plan to use them again! Bernie was well cared for! And their home is lovely! Thank you!”

“I left my dogs with Nazim for the first time this past weekend, and I am so happy that I did. Nazim was flexible and kept us updated with pictures and videos of my happy dogs. And he has the best yard ever!!”
“This was the first time we used Kristin to board our dog Max for a weekend. We were so pleased at how she and her family welcomed Max and his for bid she was with our schedule. We greatly appreciated the updates and a video. He was very happy there and came home happy and healthy. We will definitely use Kristin again for boarding Max.”

“Steve and Deb are awesome! I felt very comfortable with leaving my 8 month old puppy with them for five days. They were flexible when I needed to drop off a bit earlier and sent daily photos and videos to keep me updated on how she was doing. If I was staying in the area they would definitely be my go to place for Ruby. Plus they have some very sweet dogs that she made friends with! A big thank you to you both!”

“We couldn’t be happier with Kristin as our dog’s pet sitter! This was their second stay with her, and when we knew we were going out of town, there was no question—Kristin is the one we wanted to care for them again. She is incredibly attentive and caring, always making sure they’re comfortable and happy. We loved the regular updates she sent throughout the day; it’s clear how much she loves animals and how dedicated she is to providing them with the best care. Highly recommend Kristin to anyone looking for a reliable, loving pet sitter.”

“I am so grateful and appreciative of Sandra‘s loving care of Lulu while I was gone for 13 days. Lulu has a seizure disorder and Sandra was amazing with giving her medication and keeping me updated every day with her status and sending pictures of how well loved and cared for she was. Sandra and her husband John invited Lulu into their home and treated her as though she was theirs!”

“We were so happy with the care our dog received staying with Tyler! She went on daily reservoir walks, had lots of playtime, snuggles and attention! We received several pictures a day and it was clear how much love and attention our dog received. I would definitely rebook!”

“Amazing!!! Kept me informed the entire time I was away. Sent me pics of Naz and updated me on how he was doing. How he was sleeping and eating. Even down to when he would go outside. I’d recommend 1,000%”

“Ricky did a great job , got my boys back healthy and happy . He provided updates with pics and was really responsive. Trust that Ricky will take care of your pet . Will definitely have him look after my boys again.”

“Phoebe's recent first long-term stay with Russ and Janet went very well. We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that she was well cared for receiving her walks, cuddling, and belly rubs and watching the outside world from her "cat perch" in the front windowsill. They sent updates and immediately contacted us one day when she was not feeling well, which quickly resolved. She enjoys being with them and they enjoy having her! Very happy with the care they have provided. Their 1-dog at a time policy is reassuring that our dog will happily hang out in a quiet home environment, as she is used to at home.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Barkhamsted
Karina was great! Our 8 month old golden retriever stayed with her for a week and everything went perfect. Karina and Jared are very thoughtful and safe with introducing any other dogs that she is boarding. The fenced in yard is also so nice to allow great outdoor playtime! Karina is a great communicator. We have needed to extend our puppies stay with her due to travel plans and she made it very easy!

I’ve used Karine twice now with my golden retriever Thor, and am finally comfortable leaving him with someone else. It’s clear she cares about Thor and takes excellent care of him. He has a blast with her, which is evident in all the pictures she shares and his mood upon pickup. This is truly a home away from home for Thor, and he’ll be back for sure.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
