Candace took great care of our puppy while we were out to dinner! She was reliable, communicative, and made us feel completely at ease. Josh was happy and well cared for when we got home. We'd definitely book with her again!

This was our first time using Rover or having someone we didn’t know staying at our home and caring for our girl. It was also the longest we have been apart from Piper (a week). One might say it was the perfect storm for pup parental anxiety. Cue Ashley. Ashley came over for an initial “meet and greet” visit and asked lots of questions (and even took notes) about Piper’s habits, the commands we use, etc. While we were away, she sent daily updates, pictures, and even a few video clips. She asked questions if she needed clarification on something. She even went out to grab a few essentials we ran out of while we were away. When we came home, it was to a happy pup. Ashley had been here all week but the house was tidy and she had even washed her own bed sheets! For a first experience with Rover, we couldn’t be happier. We give Ashley four thumbs and two paws up. 👍👍👍👍🐾

About: I have had dogs my entire life. I have taken care of my own dogs as well as friends and neighbors. I have experience with labs, golden retrievers, German shepherds, Rottweilers, and pit bulls mostly but love all dogs. I currently work full time Monday-Friday (this is important to note when booking me for house sitting) and would love to help people with walking their pets/letting them out after work or on the weekends. I can’t have pets in my apartment and greatly miss interacting with dogs! I am very respectful of other people’s homes. I am clean and appreciate instructions/rules on where food, collars/leashes, treats, etc are. I will keep your furry companions company, provide long walks, and scratches of course!

About: I've always had a natural connection with dogs since childhood. Dogs have always gravitated to my calm energy and ability to sense their needs. Your dog will not just be taken care of but will feel safe like they're spending time with an old friend. Retired computer nerd and musician available for dog walking and house visits most days of the week. Some dogs are welcome in our home with fenced in yard and 5 y.o. yellow lab Norma for playtime and companionship. My wife and I live in a wooded area in York with a large fenced in back yard. We are both retired and home most of the day to keep an eye on the pups. I am available for long or short visits to your home for dog walks and exercise to suite your needs. I am an avid walker and walk daily. I am fully insured with pet sitting/walking insurance.

We highly recommend Patrick. He was absolutely wonderful with our dog Gilligan. We utilized the overnight pet sitting service in our home. Patrick was very accommodating and to better get to know us, he offered to visit our home twice prior to our trip. One of these visits he took Gilligan for a walk, while I just tagged along. He handled Gilligan beautifully, cleaned up after him, let him stop and sniff, but then encouraged him along. He stopped and talked with a neighbor, while their dog and Gilligan said hello. Patrick was a natural. It was obvious he loved dogs and took his job very seriously. Patrick provided us with references without us asking. We called all of them and heard nothing but very positive comments. Patrick also offered to talk with our previous sitter (who was moving away) to gain even more knowledge of Gilligan and how to best care for him. I was doing all I could to find the best caregiver for Gilligan, and Patrick made it easy. It was all pretty impressive. Although we were gone for only one night, Patrick kept us updated with pictures and messages throughout the day, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. We will definitely be using Patrick again.

This was our first time having Savanna watch Yoshi since since we are new to the area and it was too far of a commute for Yoshi’s previous sitter. I’ve used Rover for years and have found some hidden gems, and Savanna is one of them. Savanna was very communicative and kept us updated with photos of their evening. Yoshi isn’t a difficult pup to watch, he’s quite lazy, but he is particular about who hangs out in his house, and there were no complaints! He loved having her here and so did we. It is such a relief to find someone you trust with your pup. Highly recommend booking with Savanna. We definitely will be using her services as Yoshi’s permanent sitter! ?❤️

About: Kristine and Eric have loved and had animals our entire life. I have always helped care for pets, even as a child. Eric was raised on a farm, caring for many different kinds of animals- waking up before dawn to ensure that all animals were properly cared for and had what they needed for the day whether it be rain, shine, snow, sleet, hot, or cold. We, together, have two dogs. They are both around 10 years old and are rescues. We also have 6 chickens. Our home has a door from the downstairs to the upstairs. When dogs are home during the day and if left alone for 1 hour or so they stay downstairs with access to water, comfy couches, and dog bed areas. When we are home they have free run of the home. We also have a crate for dogs that may need a private, safe space. We have a back yard that our dog enjoys playing in, but just so you know it is not fenced in, therefore dogs remain leashed when in the back yard. We do have a deck that is closed off in the backyard where dogs can be left unleashed to hang out, but always supervised when out there. We also have a 15 year old daughter who loves animals. She assists with the care of our dogs and we have fostered a few dogs in the past from various shelters and she is always eager to assist with making these dogs feel comfortable and give them love. She volunteers at a local animal shelter with small mammals and takes care of the chickens I work full time during the school year for a school district. Eric works from home. Eric takes dogs for a number of walks per day including walks to the local dog park (Rogers Park) and to local beaches for exercise and socialization. I am home by 3:30 pm and bring my dogs (and other dogs) for exercise either running, hiking, or walking. In the summer I am mostly around. I also grew up with cats and with both have experience with cats and providing meds to cats, including insulin shots. I work full time and Eric works part to full time but we can walk dogs in the evening and walk dogs throughout the day on the weekends. I have summers off as I work in a school. I will not be offering care in my home, but am excited to take care of your pet and walk your dog and take your dog on adventures.

Tara watched our rambunctious dog Wes for four nights at our home and we couldn’t be happier with the care she gave him. She bonded instantly with him (which says quite a lot actually for our dog), was in touch every day with updates, and improvised on food when some of his food ran out. TRa also discovered a broken nail and was prepared to take time off from work to take Wes to the vet, although we elected to wait and see. She was professional and caring, everything you could ask for in a pet sitter. I would recommend her again in a heartbeat!

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong dog lover and proud dog parent to Otis, my energetic Golden Retriever. Caring for him has given me hands-on experience with puppy training, daily exercise, feeding routines, crate training, and all the joys (and occasional messes!) that come with raising a happy, healthy dog. I understand that every dog has their own personality and needs, and I take the time to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. Whether your pup enjoys long walks, playtime, belly rubs, or simply relaxing with a companion, I’ll provide attentive care tailored to them. I treat every dog as if they were my own and will keep you updated with photos and messages so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I look forward to meeting your furry family member! I have a rotating schedule that allows me to have flexibility each week with some weekend and weekday availability! I strive to be available for anything from last minute drop-ins to 2-3 day long stretches for long weekends or midweek trips! I have a yard to allow your fur baby some outdoor play and also love exploring nearby walking paths and beaches! On the other end of the spectrum I have a nice big couch for those fur babies that just want a relaxing cuddle session. I also have a one-year old golden retriever who is an excellent companion for any pup looking for a play-mate!

About: Hi there — I’m a dedicated, experienced pet sitter with 10+ years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all ages, breeds, sizes, and personalities. I truly believe there’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach when it comes to our pets—every dog has their own routines, quirks, comfort levels, and needs, and I love taking the time to get to know what makes your pup feel safe, happy, and at home. Whether your dog is high-energy and playful, shy and cautious, older and in need of a slower pace, or has specific behavioral or medical needs, communication is everything. Please share any concerns, routines, triggers, fears, or special requests ahead of time—we’ll work together to make their stay as stress-free and personalized as possible. My home offers a large yard for supervised outdoor time, plenty of love, structure, and attention. I’m also a mom to two amazing kids (ages 5 and 7) who have been raised around animals and are very respectful of pet boundaries, body language, and personal space. For overnight stays, I do recommend bringing your dog’s crate if they’re crate-trained or may need a familiar, secure space for bedtime or decompression. My goal is simple: for your dog to feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for—while you have peace of mind knowing they’re in loving, experienced hands. I’d love to meet your pup! 🐾 I can do overnights Wednesday Thursday and Fridays! Just reach out to me, schedule updated weekly for other services - overnights stay the same. Thanks! Your pet - your rules! I can play, snuggle, walk, feed, bathe your pet. I can crate your pet if requested. What you say goes!

About: I have spent lots of time with elderly dogs and cats, and I love ensuring they have the consistent care they need while their humans are away. I have also worked with young pets who are house or litter box training. I also love fish, rodents, and reptiles! If you have a zoo at home, I may be the sitter for you. -Gwen (they/them) I currently nanny a small human part time, so I have plenty of flexibility in my schedule. Week days I am available before 10:30am and after 3:00pm. Weekends I am free all day. Overnights are always available. I deeply value the trust it takes to have someone in your home taking care of your beloved furry friends. I strive to provide care that keeps pets happy, safe, and satisfied while maintaining a calm and clean environment in the home I am visiting.

FAQs for House Sitting - Bald Head

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Bald Head on Rover is $99.9 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 521 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Bald Head. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bald Head walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bald Head maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bald Head choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Bald Head. On Rover:

  • 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
