“Andrea is a gem. She is communicative, respectful, and left our home in excellent condition. My cats are everything to me and she took wonderful care of them while I was out of town for my birthday. She also left me a sweet card and note with an update. Will definitely book with her again.”

About: I’ve cared for dogs and cats for years through family, friends, and neighbors, and I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals of all energy levels! I grew up with a hyper poodle-terrier mix, so I’m very comfortable with energetic dogs and active playtime. I also currently have a mellow, cuddly polydactyl Russian Blue cat, so I’m comfortable with both high-energy pets and calmer ones. As a law student, I take responsibility seriously and pride myself on being reliable, attentive, and detail-oriented. I’ll make sure your pets feel safe and cared for while you’re away. I’m comfortable with walks, feeding schedules, administering basic medications, and giving pets extra patience and attention when needed. I’m also happy to provide regular updates and photos throughout the stay. I’m currently waiting to start my summer job in June, so I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to pet care. I’m available throughout the week for overnight stays, walks, feeding schedules, playtime, and check-ins. I’m happy to accommodate different routines and care needs. I understand how important it is to trust someone with both your pets and your home. I’ll make sure to follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible so they feel comfortable while you’re away. I’m attentive during walks and always respectful of my client’s homes and instructions.
“We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with Stephanie! From the very first meeting, she made us all feel so comfortable. She is truly a dog person who goes above and beyond for every pup in her care. We have two dogs with very different needs: one is reactive, and the other has ongoing medical requirements. Finding someone we trust with both of them felt daunting but Stephanie came in with calmness, confidence, and knowledge, knowing exactly how to approach our reactive dog and handling our other pup's medical needs with skill and care. Stephanie was wonderful at keeping me in the loop and made it obvious that our dogs' comfort and wellbeing were her top priority. We feel so incredibly lucky to have found her and will asolutely be booking with her again. If you have dogs with special needs, look no further!”

“Trevor is wonderful! He stayed with our dogs over Xmas and not only took great care of ours dogs but also our house! With all the rain and muddy paws he had to deal with, our house was clean without a paw print in site! He is a great communicator and very responsive to text. Best of all the dogs love him. Our older dog who does not like to walk with anyone outside our family, walks with him happily! 5 stars across the board! Highly recommend.”

“Cordigen has looked after our two dogs 5 times this month, with the most recent visit being an all day plus evening care. She has proven to be the caregiver we hoped for. She is loving to the dogs, responsible, responsive and sends us updates during and after her visits. It is such a privilege to have a caregiver we trust, so we can focus on and enjoy activities away from our pets. We have appreciated her flexibility when our schedules have been in flux, as well as covering a last minute need. We plan to continue to request her services for all our pet caregiving needs.”

About: I’ve had a lifelong love for animals and hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of pets, including fish, dogs, lizards, rabbits, and cats. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong understanding of different pet needs, from maintaining routines to recognizing changes in behavior or health. In addition to caring for my own pets, I’ve regularly looked after friends’ pets during vacations and work trips throughout my college years. This includes feeding, walking, playtime, administering basic care, and ensuring pets feel comfortable and safe while their owners are away. What sets me apart is my attentiveness and reliability. I treat every pet as if they were my own, making sure they receive not just proper care, but also attention, patience, and affection. I’m adaptable to different personalities and routines, whether it’s an energetic puppy or a more independent cat. I work from home, so my schedule is pretty flexible, which makes it easy to fit pet care into my daily routine. I’m also really big on living an active lifestyle. I enjoy walking and running regularly, so having a pet actually fits in perfectly with that. It’s great because it keeps both me and the pet active and engaged, and it naturally becomes part of my day rather than feeling like a separate task. I prioritize safety, comfort, and consistency in every environment I care for pets in. In my home, I have a secure, fenced yard that allows pets to roam and play safely. I also live in a quiet, pet-friendly neighborhood with nearby parks, which is great for regular walks and exercise. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I make sure to follow their established routines as closely as possible to help pets feel comfortable and stress-free. I pay close attention to feeding schedules, exercise needs, and any specific instructions, including medications or special care. In both settings, I maintain a clean, hazard-free environment, keep a close eye on pets at all times, and make sure they get plenty of attention, supervision, and affection. My goal is to create a safe and trustworthy experience where both pets and owners feel completely at ease.
“Maria is the only person my pets will let in the house. She is wonderful, patient and communicative. We received photos and updates the entire time we were gone. If we go out of town again we definitely know who to call. We highly recommend Maria for all of your pet sitting needs.”

About: Hi, I’m Jonathan! I’ve been around dogs most of my life, growing up with four family dogs and helping care for them daily. I’ve also looked after pets for family members, including feeding, walks, playtime, and companionship. I don’t have a pet right now but miss having a dog around so joined Rover! I work from home so your pet will have a lot of attention. I have experience taking care of anxious dogs and grew up with rescues, and committed to following your pet’s routine and care instructions. I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I look forward to meeting you and your pets! I work from home and have flexibility for routine dog walks and drop-in house visits. I also can do house sitting for an extended period if given advanced notice to schedule. I grew up with rescue dogs and understand their home is their space so I would want to follow their owner's guidelines and if there are any special spaces to pay attention to. I know it can be stressful having a new person boarding and taking care of their pet so I aim to care for their home as I would mine and leave it exactly how it was before I arrived.
“Kristi was the perfect sitter while my wife and I were away for the weekend. She was available on short notice and provided us with plenty of updates and photos of our dogs who were clearly happy to be spending time with her. We felt extremely comfortable leaving our dogs with Kristi and will definitely do so again in the future. Thank you so much Kristi!!!”

“We appreciate knowing that during the crazy heatwave while we had to be away, our entire furry family was safe and comfortable at home with Denise’s care. House and doggos/cat were just as happy as they were when we left. Thank you!”
“Coralee was absolutely incredible. She was very communicative and sent beautiful pictures. She really understood my sensitive baby, and he warmed up quickly to her and clearly felt comfortable and safe. Coralee also was patient and responsive when our travel plans got disrupted, and kept my baby company much later than we originally planned. I very highly recommend her.”

About: Who's a good dog? All of them. I grew up in a multi-pet home, including big dogs (RIP Barkley, 110 lbs of slobbery Great Pyrenees love), in a family that thought of dogs more as people than pets. I get along with all breeds, ages, and temperaments. I know through years of experience that they are picking up signals from me that I'm not even aware I am putting out, and I do my best to keep up by staying attuned to their comfort and needs. I work remotely as a writer and editor in tech-adjacent roles doing people-facing things. In plain English: Monday through Friday, I sit quietly and tap on my laptop. n/a (I do not care for pets in my home) n/a (I do not care for pets in my home) n/a (I do not care for pets in my home)
About: I have 10 years of experience caring for a variety of pets as well as having a love and passion for animals my whole life! I help neighbors, family, and friends watch their furry friends when they are in need. I love staying active and what better way than spending time with animals! I am currently on summer break so I have tons of free time throughout the week and weekends! I’m more than happy to be on call and available for walks, hikes, at home sitting, or anything else to help with your furry friends! I had two dogs myself and experience with all types of breeds! I actively care for my neighbors dog and cats whenever they are away on vacation throughout the year. I am reliable, attentive and compassionate about animals.
About: Before being a dog mom I pet sat for family friends when they went on vacation. I met Chocolate 6 years ago while I was in Colombia, when he was 2.5 years old. He was sadly abused by his previous owner and when I got him he was very shy and not yet potty trained. I trained him myself and now Chocolate has regained his trust in humans entirely. In fact, his favorite thing to do when we go to the dog park every evening is to beg all the rest of the dog parents for pets. If you choose me to be your pet sitter, your dog can accompany Chocolate and I on our daily morning walks, hikes that we go on twice a week and daily evening trips to the dog park. Additionally, with your permission, your dog can enjoy some of the organic home cooked food I make for Choco. I cook fresh food every 3 days and vary the ingredients each time. I use the following ground meats: goat, venison, lamb mixed with cod fish, turkey and chicken breast. I use a variation of the following vegetables: broccoli, spinach, carrots, cabbage, pumpkin, butternut squash, sweet potato and kale. I cook this in bone broth and mix this with one of the following: lentils, chickpeas or rice. Lastly, due to my experience of taking care of my brother's senior dog, who I used to live with I can offer helpful advice, that will make your senior dog's golden years more pleasant. For example, I recommended my brother to by his dog Titus a raised dog bowl to help with his mobility issues while eating. The raised dog bowl prevents Titus from losing his balance, when lowering his head to eat, while the rubber mat prevent his paws from slipping. If you choose me as your pet sitter your dog will receive lots of love and care that warms their hearts, home cooked meals to maintain their taste buds and bellies happy and lots of excercise to prevent separation anxiety, that will make them feel like my home is their home away from home. Choco and I look forward to meeting you and your pup! I am currently home full time for the next 5 months while I recover from a shoulder injury, so I would be with your pet the entire day and night except for when I go to my physical therapy, accupuncture and doctor's appointments. I cook fresh food every 3 days for Choco and walk him in every morning and enjoys the dog park every afternoon. I have a fenced yard and only live with my dog and father. My dog is extremely friendly with all dogs and loves to play.
“Can’t thank Savannah enough! She took the best care of our senior dog and kept me updated throughout the entire stay. She put us at ease being so far away. Appreciate you so much Savannah!”

“Jamie took great care of my dog and made me feel comfortable while I was away. She was reliable, attentive, kind, patient, and very sweet with him. My dog seemed happy and well cared for, and it gave me peace of mind knowing he was in good hands. I would absolutely book with her again and recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Ashrama
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 2,093 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ashrama. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ashrama walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ashrama maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ashrama choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ashrama. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
