“Abby is awesome! Highly recommend, she takes great care of my 2 dogs and one of them is a senior with mobility issues and Abby goes above and beyond for her. Thanks Abby!”

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover and proud cat + dog mom who truly treats every pet like my own. What sets me apart is my deep, hands-on experience with dogs of every life stage — from tiny puppies to wise seniors. I used to breed dogs, so I’m very comfortable with young litters, potty training, socialization, and all the playful chaos that comes with puppies. On the other end, I cared for my own dog through her golden years until she was nearly 14, so I know how to give seniors the gentle care, extra patience, and comfort they deserve. Whether it’s a bouncy puppy who needs structure, a senior who just wants soft bedding and slow walks, or a cat who prefers calm companionship and playtime on their terms, I bring patience, consistency, and genuine affection. I’m based in Charleston and love exploring local spots for safe, enriching walks and adventures. Most importantly, your pets will feel safe, loved, and well-cared for — because to me, they’re family too. I am currently working but I have off every Wednesday and a few Monday and Fridays. I would love to do this full time eventually. I will make sure to follow your specific instructions for your individual pet needs. Every dog and/or cat will be treated like my own.
“Ella was an absolute darling. My little frenchie, Murphy Karl is so picky with people but right away warmed up to Ella. She had so fun with her the whole week Ella walked her. Will def be using Ella moving forward!”

About: I grew up with dogs and cats my entire life. I grew up with a yellow lab, a rescue pup, french bulldog husky mix, and a chug (chihuahua pug mix,) along with a couple cats! Once I got into high school and college, I began dog sitting for family friends, and then it grew to word of mouth, dog sitting nearly every other week. I am currently working from home everyday. I am able to check in on your animals before work, during the day (couple times if needed), and then after work as needed. On weekends, I am free when I am in town to spend whatever needed time. I would care for your pets like they’re my own. I moved from Maine about 4 years ago, therefor I miss my parents animals dearly and would love to play and care for your animals like my own to fill that void.
“Kelly was amazing! She was so tentative to my pup & genuinely made her feel the most comfortable & happy that could while I was gone. Very good with dogs & can tell that pups gravitate towards her! Very grateful for her this week during the holidays ❤️”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my entire life, I have experience with both puppies and senior dogs! I can’t wait to take care of your pups like they are one of my own! :) I’m currently in CHS my schedule is very flexible! I’m here weekdays and weekends so I can work around your schedule. I can also do early mornings and late nights if needed. I will make sure the safety and environment of your dog is secure and that will always be my top priority. If any specific instructions are included I can also make any adjustments needed!
About: I have grown up with cats and dogs my whole life and absolutely love animals. I have a cat of my own who is 8 years old and loves to play! I’m a nurse and will take great care of your animals! I work only three days a week as a nurse and would have time on my days off to do drop in visits for pets! I care for my pet by providing regular food and water, giving them exercise, providing a clean litter box, and making sure there are no hazards.
“Elena goes above and beyond, it’s obvious how much she loves the dogs she takes care for! She helped my Tucker when he was feeling sick and helped me feel much more at ease while I had to be at work. I know he is in good hands with her!”
About: Caring for animals has always come naturally to me. From a young age, I was the one looking after our family pets, and that love only grew over time. In 2020, I welcomed my own dog, Hoss. He quickly became my best friend and a true part of my family. Because of that bond, I understand how much trust it takes to leave your pets in someone else’s care, and I treat every dog and cat I watch with the same love, patience, and attention I give my own. Hoss now has a younger brother, Dooley, an English Springer Spaniel with a sweet and easygoing personality. Together, they help create a calm, welcoming environment for visiting pets. They love to play when another dog is interested, but they are also very respectful of dogs who prefer space, rest, or a quieter visit. My husband and I own a house in West Ashley with a doggy door that leads to a big fenced in backyard that allows the dogs to romp around. Both the greenway and a park nearby are within walking distance for our walks around the neighborhood. One of the things that sets me apart is the range of care I can provide. I have hands-on experience with puppies, including the patience and consistency needed during teething, house-training, and early routines. I also have experience caring for senior dogs, including administering medication, monitoring comfort levels, and making sure they feel safe, supported, and relaxed. Whether your pet is energetic and playful or older and in need of extra attention, I tailor my care to meet their individual needs. My husband and I also foster for local rescues, including Journey Home Alliance and Lowcountry Lab Rescue. Through fostering, we have worked with dogs who have separation anxiety and need extra reassurance, structure, and patience to come out of their shell. Helping those dogs feel secure and comfortable in a temporary home has been one of the most meaningful parts of my experience, and it has strengthened my ability to care for pets with different personalities, backgrounds, and emotional needs. I'm currently working from home, so I have more flexibility during the day for drop ins, walks, and boarding. I also have availability on the weekends. Between me and my husband, someone is generally almost always home. We have a fenced in yard with two animal friendly dogs to keep your fur baby company. They are used to having animals come and go in our house through fostering rescue animals. Animals are treated like family in our home and are allowed on furniture. I can also easily crate your dog if needed while I am away from the house.
About: I’ve had dogs in my life for as long as I can remember, ranging from energetic puppies to calm seniors, and everything from small breeds to large ones. That variety has taught me how to adjust my approach with puppies vs older dogs. I’m comfortable with feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and just being attentive to each dog’s individual personality and needs. I have a very flexible schedule right now with lots of availability throughout the week, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends. I’m happy to accommodate walks, drop-ins, or boarding stays on short notice, and can adjust easily around your pet’s routine and any specific timing needs you have. I live in a house without a yard, so daily walks are part of our routine to make sure dogs get plenty of exercise and outdoor time. I don’t currently have a crate on hand, but I’m attentive and hands-on, giving your pet my full focus without other pets around to compete for attention.
“Kristin walked Tucker on Halloween night during one of my shifts. She left great notes of the walk and took cute pictures! She’s very responsive and I can tell she loves dogs. Will definitely be booking for future walks!”
About: I’ve been caring for animals of all kinds for over a decade. I have cared for cats, dogs, guinea pigs, bearded dragons, parrots, bunnies, and fish. I love animals and have a very open schedule, so I am looking to spend my time doing something i love- caring for animals! I have cared for animals of all personalities and types, and have experience handling medications and fixing invisible fences as well! Im currently a fresh grad and job searching so I can very flexible. I want to keep working while i search for my next move in life! I live in an apartment downtown, so I do not have a yard. That being said, it is better for me to house-sit than board, but I am open to boarding as i live near several parks like Marion square!

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Ashley Forest
I had an emergency trip, and Pam was an absolute godsend. My dog isn’t the easiest to care for, but Pam went above and beyond to make sure Aurora was safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Thank you so much, Pam! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wonderful caretaker for their fur babies.

I was very nervous to use Rover but since I have to stay late at work occasionally, I wanted an option for my dog. Sam has been so great with Charlie. He’s very flexible and communicative. He’s been letting her out once a week and it’s really put my mind at ease. He always sends me a picture and gives me a little update. He was also very patient and understanding of me being nervous to let someone else take care of my dog. I know my dog Charlie really likes him as well.

Ami Cooner was wonderful with my small dog! She was reliable, attentive, and clearly genuinely cares about the pets she looks after. I felt completely at ease knowing my dog was in such good hands while being walked and cared for. Communication was great, and my pup was happy and well cared for when I returned. I would absolutely book with Ami again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter!

Isabelle was great! Attentive and friendly. Snoopy enjoyed his time with her and we appreciate her so much! We were able to enjoy lunch while on a quick getaway to beautiful Charleston & Snoopy got his steps in. Def recommend and will def be securing with Isabelle on our next trip.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
