“Katie did a great job caring for my dear cat, Sylvia. She handled all the feeding a cleanup tasks perfectly but also went above and beyond by trying to bond with Sylvia, sending me frequent updates with photos so I was always up to date. She even dealt with an issue with Sylvia’s water fountain very effectively. Highly recommended!”

“Hameeda was amazing with my fur babes. They loved her. She played with them and sent pictures and videos every visit. I definitely recommend her. I will be booking her again soon. Thank you Hameeda. 🥰”

“HIRE HANNAH! She is awesome!! I needed someone last minute and she came and met my dogs the day I messaged her. All THREE of them loved her right away including my senior dog and my crazy two year old. She is very caring and I love the detail she puts into letting me know how everyone was doing. Definitely going to use her again if she’ll have us, Thank you Hannah!”

“Maria was truly a blessing for us during our absence. She took excellent care of Chelsea every day, even during an ice storm, and then snow the following week. Her attention to detail and care were so appreciated. We will definitely be using her again.”

“We were really pleased with Yolinette this weekend. George loves her! She took great care of him and kept us updated with texts and pictures. She was attentive and reliable. We will definitely use Yolinette again! Thank you so much!”
About: Now that I am retired from special education, I can pet-sit full-time! I’ve had dogs all of my life. I got “my” first dog when I was 11. He was a Jack Russell named Patches and lived to be 15. In college, I got a terrier mix named Claire. She lived to be 16. After Claire passed, I adopted June Bug and Ryder, two lab mixes. Ryder and I trained to be a therapy dog team and worked in assisted living homes cheering up the residents. I have gone through many hours of training with both June Bug and Ryder and am now considering working for a dog trainer. Ryder passed away in May 2026. I recently retired from the field of special education, and I’m ready to care for four-legged babies! I know how stressful it can be to find someone to watch your babies or to board them, so I’d just like to help. That’s my main focus. My pups are my kids. I’ll treat yours like family too. I am a recently retired (but still young!) special educator so I am extremely flexible these days. I’ll keep my calendar up to date for availability. If I am in town, I can often take last minute requests. When I come to your home, I will treat it like my own. I am responsible enough to follow all directions you leave. I can administer oral medications, feed, check mail, water plants, etc
“This was the first time we had Amber help us with our fur baby while we were out of town, and we are so impressed with her. She not only has an exceptional love for dogs but she also has been exceptional when it comes to communication. Her detailed reports and the pictures she provided made this time away from our fur baby very peaceful. We are so thankful that we found a loving and reliable person for our fur baby. Thank you so much again, Amber! at has been wonderful with our fur baby”

“Alexis is the sweetest, most flexible sitter yet. Her personality shines bright and shes juat a joy. BANDIT loved her visits!shes very communicative and goes above and beyond! Definitely will book her again!”

About: Hi! I’m a fun, energetic, and compassionate animal lover who treats every dog like my own. I understand that when you trust someone with your pet, you’re trusting them with family, and I take that responsibility seriously. I’m dependable and attentive to each dog’s unique personality and needs. Whether your pup loves long, energetic walks or prefers a slower pace with lots of sniff breaks, I tailor every walk to keep them safe, happy, and engaged. What sets me apart is the balance of energy and responsibility. I bring positive energy to every visit, but I also prioritize safety, communication, and consistency. I’m comfortable caring for puppies still learning leash manners and senior dogs who need patience and a gentler approach. You’ll always receive updates and photos, so you can feel confident and connected while you’re away. My goal is simple: happy tails, safe walks, and peace of mind for you. I can’t wait to meet your fur baby! 🐶💕 Pet care is something I truly enjoy and prioritize. I work full-time during the week, which allows me to dedicate focused time on weekends to dog walking and drop-in visits. I also offer boarding for one dog at a time, so each pup receives calm, personalized attention in a safe environment. Whether it’s weekend walks, overnight boarding, or pet sitting support, I’m committed to dependable, loving care. Your furbaby’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. As a devoted dog mom, I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care, and I take that responsibility seriously. I carefully follow your instructions and keep routines consistent, so your pup feels secure, relaxed, and loved. For walks and drop-ins, I use secure leashing, stay fully attentive, and remain aware of our surroundings at all times. I avoid busy or unsafe areas and adjust each walk based on your dog’s age, personality, energy level, and even the weather. Some dogs love a power walk, others love sniff breaks. I’m happy to match their vibe! For boarding, I intentionally host only one dog at a time so your furbaby receives calm, personalized attention in a clean, safe, and pet-friendly home. I provide plenty of affection, supervision, and updates (with photos!) so you always feel connected and confident. With 17 years of experience as a loving dog mom, I understand that communication, patience, and kindness matter just as much as exercise and routine. I treat every dog like family because to me, they are.
“Baoer was incredibly down to earth and kept me updated during every drop-in visit. She really took the time to connect with my cat and made sure he felt comfortable. The photo and video updates meant so much to me, and after the first couple of days, I had total peace of mind while I was away. I would absolutely recommend Baoer to anyone looking for reliable and caring drop-in visits.”

“Sophia was absolutely amazing with my cats and also took great care of my home while I was away. She was attentive, reliable, communicative, and clearly genuinely loves animals. Knowing my cats were in good hands while I was away gave me such peace of mind. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter and would recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring!”

“Maria is amazing! Our “baby” loves her very much. Maria helped us with Frisky while we were at the trip. She fed and walked Frisky two times a day. Everything was done perfect, in time, with big love and kindness. Highly recommend Maria.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Arbor Trace
Sydney and Yoonho are the best! They take such great care of our babies and are always super responsive, which really puts us at ease whenever we have to leave them. Our cat Mabel is usually shy and nervous around strangers, but she actually comes out to see them. ❤️

I think Debora did a great job dropping in to let my pups out during the long day, especially since she just met them! Hoping next opportunity, and when it's cooler out, they can also get out for a short stroll :) Debora was dependable and communicated well. Thanks Debora!

We are so happy we have Emily to care for our animal kids. She is consistently on time and always updates us through messaging. We have used family and friends and they don’t spend the time time walking, feeding, giving meds and playing with our animals every time they stop by. Spending money to have Emily is worth every cent!!!! She is also just a good soul and it feels nice to pay someone who takes their job seriously.

Stephanie was very kind and loving to our two dogs while we were on vacation in Florida. She played with them, cuddled, fed them and made sure they had water. We loved her pictures she took of our two doggies. It was a comfort knowing Stephanie was taking good care of our sweet dogs.

Yolinette was wonderful. This was our first time using Roover and Yolinette. She has great communication skills, asked questions and didn’t assume. Made us feel comfortable in knowing our dog was well taken care of. She spent good quality time while we were away. We’ll definitely use her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
