“Phyllis has such a huge heart for animals and is such a genuine person. I have a 7 month Shiba Inu puppy named “Momo” who was driving me crazy and not allowing me to sleep at night. He walks with Phyllis once a day now and they love each other. Grateful for her guidance and genuine support and optimism. I would definitely use her again, and recommend her to ANYONE who needs a little help with their pet.”

“Abby did drop-in visits for our cat while we were away for a week and she was wonderful! She was so friendly from when we first met her, kept us updated, and took great care of our cat. Thank you Abby!!”

About: I have taken care of dogs ranging from 10 pounds to 110 pounds my entire life. I have owned chihuahua dachshund mix, akitas, huskies, and German shepherds; so I understand big breeds as well as smaller ones. I have helped family members and neighbors with their dogs growing up with house sitting and dog walking. I know how important furbabies are to families, and treat each and every one as I would my own. I currently work full time with every other Monday off. I go to work about 7 am and get home about 430 pm. I do have volleyball leagues on Monday Wednesday and Friday nights that I am gone for 2 hours between 6-11pm as it varies based on game time. I love to hike and be outside so taking the dogs for walks a non issue. I treat all furbabies as if they were my own. I adjust my schedule accordingly to accommodate the animals as best as I can. I have given insulin shots and medication to animals and am comfortable with it.
About: I've been dog sitting since covid; things have changed but not the love for animals. Since my start I've dog sat for a wide varity of dogs. Puppies, oldies, big, small. Some requiring a lot of attention to help distract them, some that just sit by the door waiting for their pawrents to come home. From medications to special diets, specific schedules and give attention if you have the extra time. I will treat your dog as my own! Something you can count on is they will be loved and well taken care of. Pet care is my top priority. Making sure they are fed on time and they get plenty of play time and walks while you are gone. I do currently work but my schedule is constantly changing so I have a lot of freedom to change it as needed. I unfortunately can't accept pets into my home as I don't currently live alone. But I'm more than willing to stay over whenever you need me to.
“Kassandra was reliable and prompt with her appointments. Our pup clearly loved her check-ins and we were provided with updates and pictures. We will absolutely use Kassandra again in the future ☺️”

About: I have grown up with both cats and dogs and currently live in a household with four cats. I have worked at a veterinary clinic for well over 3 years now, so I am comfortable administering medications including liquids, pills and injections. I am knowledgeable about common pet conditions and illnesses as well. I currently work full time but I do go in late/get off early several days during the week plus I don't work Thursdays and only half a day every other Saturday. I will happily take care of your pets days I don't work or before and after my shifts! This of course wouldn't be my first time petsitting in someone else's home that I didn't know well, so I know there are boundaries that are necessary to respect and would never do anything that you have not allowed ahead of time.
“Jessica has dropped by on my pupsters on two separate occasions, and I would trust her anytime I need some help. She always provides adorable updates and is communicative. The pups have a great time with her. I will book Jessica everytime if she's available!”

About: With 9 years of experience as a veterinary assistant, I bring both professional medical knowledge and genuine compassion to every pet I care for. I have extensive hands-on experience with cats and dogs of all ages, temperaments, and health conditions, including seniors, anxious pets, and animals requiring medications or specialized care. Working in veterinary medicine has taught me how to recognize subtle changes in behavior and health, respond calmly in stressful situations, and tailor care to each animal’s individual needs. Beyond my professional experience, animals have always been a huge part of my life. I understand that trusting someone with your pet is deeply personal, and I strive to provide the same level of attentiveness, patience, and affection that I would want for my own pets. Whether your dog needs long walks and playtime or your cat prefers quiet companionship and routine, I create a safe, calm, and loving environment where pets can feel comfortable and secure while you’re away. I am currently taking a break for myself from my career in veterinary medicine so I have all the time in the world for your beloved kiddos! I provide detailed updates, photos, and consistent communication so you can feel confident your pets are safe, loved, and stress-free while you’re away. I tailor my care to each pet’s individual personality, routine, and medical needs. Whether your baby is shy, energetic, senior, or requires medications or extra monitoring, I create a calm, low-stress environment built on patience, trust, and compassion. Your pets will always be treated like family in my care.
“Was in a pinch, Kristy fast tracked so she could take care of our kitties while I had surgery and hospital stay. I could tell she took care of them by the way they acted when we got home.”

About: In my first summer out of college (where I studied hospitality and business mgmt @ JMU), I fancied myself an entrepreneur and started a dog walking service in my apartment building at home. I had a great time meeting my neighbors and felt much more connected to the community. Unfortunately, Perky Paws (the name of my business haha) only lasted the one summer as I began working at a hotel in my college town and stayed there for the next few years. Since college I have house sat for friends and through river, volunteered at animal shelters, and have a few of my own pets at home. I work for the city of Richmond and go into the office Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. I work remotely Thursdays and Fridays so would be home with your four legged family all day those days! I have a fenced in yard and two friendly dogs (golden retrievers) of my own if you’d like to drop your baby off at my house. There is also a cat living here but she keeps to my room mostly. I recently bought a house with my momma (lifelong dream of mine!) and it’s crawlspace needs some encapsulation which is why I am here on rover! I’ve also lived with both my siblings caring for their babies and animals when I had a fully remote job previously so I am used to being respectful in someone’s else’s space if you are looking for in home care.

“Janet is the best! Very reliable, timely, and always informative. Thoroughly reports on each cat each visit. She makes sure their litter is super clean and they remain well fed and attended. My first choice always!”

“Our cats Gus and Charlie were so happy to see Darnell again, and after a weekend away, we came home to relaxed and well-cared-for kitties. Darnell was an excellent communicator and a delight to work with. I look forward to hiring him to catsit again!”

Afton cat parents share their Rover experiences
When we go out of town, we want to make sure our two cats are checked on by someone who genuinely cares for animals. Caitlin was a wonderful communicator and I didn't have to worry about our boys one bit while we weren't home. I'd be happy to ask for her help with them again, with either our cats or our dogs.

We are so happy to have found Haily! She provided marvelous care of our 3 cats and special needs dog, going over and above what we requested. We received photos, videos and updates daily. She is a true professional and we will definitely be using Haily again!
