Indiana was phenomenal to work with. Took excellent care of our cats, was super respectful of our home and helped take care of a few things here and there in our house. Was also very communicative and let us know what was happening with our pets. 10/10 she’ll be our go to pet sitter whenever we are in need and she should be your go to as well!

Philis did an amazing job to take care of all our kitties. She gained trust very quickly and was able to give medicine as one of them needed on a regular basis. Thanks to her I could enjoy my vacation, knowing that my kitties are in good hands. Even when I did come back everything was clean, so I was able to enjoy my vacation till the last minute. The pictures I got from her are amazing. I will keep them all.

About: I have taken care of dogs ranging from 10 pounds to 160 pounds my entire life. I have owned chihuahua dachshund mix, akitas, huskies, and German shepherds; so I understand big breeds as well as smaller ones. I have helped family members and neighbors with their dogs growing up with house sitting and dog walking. I know how important furbabies are to families, and treat each and every one as I would my own. I currently work full time with every other Monday off. I go to work about 7 am and get home about 430 pm. I do have volleyball leagues on Monday Wednesday and Friday nights that I am gone for 2 hours between 6-11pm as it varies based on game time. I love to hike and be outside so taking the dogs for walks a non issue. I treat all furbabies as if they were my own. I adjust my schedule accordingly to accommodate the animals as best as I can. I have given insulin shots and medication to animals and am comfortable with it.

About: Animals have always been a big part of my life. I have over 5 years of experience caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities, including my own pets and my professional experience as a kennel attendant at a pet daycare. I’m experienced with walks, feeding routines, baths, medication, and providing care for pets with different needs and temperaments. I understand that every pet has their own personality and routine, so I take the time to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. My goal is to give your pet the same attention, patience, and love I would give my own. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to give pets the time and attention they deserve. I plan my days around making sure each pet gets proper care, playtime, walks, and check-ins without feeling rushed. I treat every pet like they’re my own. I focus on keeping them safe, comfortable, and following their normal routine so they feel relaxed while their owner is away. I pay attention to their behavior, needs, and any instructions provided to make sure they receive the best care possible.

About: I've been caring for animals since I was a kid, so I have experience with just about every stage of pet life, from puppies and kittens to seniors who need a little extra patience and attention. I'm comfortable with basic training, quick drop-ins, longer stays, and pets with more specific care needs. I grew up in the country with a pack of Australian Shepherds, so I'm very familiar with energetic, intelligent dogs and the occasional four-legged escape artist. These days, I have five cats of my own, and my fiancé and I also rescue cats and kittens, so I have plenty of hands-on experience with feline care too. That includes everything from confident, social cats to shy, nervous, or newly rescued kitties who may need a little more patience while they get comfortable. My home also makes it easy to give pets their own separate, quiet areas when needed, which is especially helpful for shy animals, cats, pets who aren't comfortable around others, or those who simply prefer some privacy. I also have experience caring for pets recovering from surgery or dealing with temporary mobility and medication needs. Since I work from home, I'm around throughout the day and can provide plenty of supervision, companionship, potty breaks, and attention rather than leaving your pet alone for long stretches. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I work from home and already structure my day around caring for my own animals. I’m home throughout the day, which makes it easy to accommodate feeding schedules, potty breaks, playtime, medications, check-ins, and plenty of attention without pets being left alone for long stretches. I’m also used to adjusting my routine around an animal’s individual needs. Whether that means an early breakfast, extra walks for an energetic puppy, a quiet afternoon with a senior pet, or giving a shy cat time and space to settle in, I have the flexibility to make their normal routine part of mine. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or yours, I try to keep their routine as familiar and low-stress as possible. I follow your instructions closely for feeding, medications, potty breaks, walks, playtime, sleeping arrangements, and any household rules your pet is used to. Because I work from home, I have a lot of flexibility throughout the day. That means I’m available for regular walks, extra potty breaks, drop-ins, play sessions, and check-ins rather than trying to squeeze pet care around a traditional office schedule. I’m happy to match your dog’s usual walking routine, whether that means a quick neighborhood loop or a longer walk to burn off some energy. In my home, I’m able to section off different rooms and areas as needed, which is especially helpful for pets who need privacy, a quiet place to decompress, or separation from other animals. I’m also very mindful about doors, gates, leashes, and other potential escape routes. In a client’s home, I’m respectful of both your space and your pet’s established routine. I want them to feel like life is continuing as normally as possible while you’re away, with plenty of attention and supervision. I’m also happy to send photos and updates throughout their care so you have the peace of mind of knowing how they’re doing while you’re away.

About: I have been volunteering at the Richmond Animal League on Midlothian for the past 4 months learning how to work with dogs and read their body language in a role they have called couch potato which involves spending time with a dog 1 on 1 for an hour in a private room where you spend time emotionally connecting with a dog which you or the staff pick then by playing with it if it likes the toy while feeding them food, water, and cleaning up after them if they use the bathroom in the room which has only happened a couple of times. I mainly work with small to medium size mixed beagles that range in sizes from 8 to 60 pounds with ages ranging from 5 months to 7 years old that have had heart worm, abandonment issues, abuse, and neglect with the occasional couch potato since that's the breed they mainly get even though there not a beginner or easy dog to work with and this role has only worked for a few beagles since there a hound dog which means they like to be outside doing games where they sniff and find stuff, run and play outside, but since this role is for indoors I manage with what I can do for them in the short amount of time i'm there with them. My profile picture is a beagle who got adopted the next week after spending time with him named Art he was the most down to earth beagle i have been with at the sheltor. And If your wandering why he looks anxious in the profile picture its because he got woken up from laying on my lap so the staff lady could take a picture with me and him for the rover profile picture. I signed up to rover so that i could learn to work with some new beginner couch potato dog breeds like the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, or a Pug for 30 min drop in visists for people at their homes. I also would like to in the future work with a Golden Retriever/Labrador even though they are not complete couch potato dogs but with the right owner i've heard they can be a great beginner dog to work with for 30 min drop in visists as well. I figured that would be a great place to start since ive never done this before but if some of you experienced owners read this perhaps you could send me a message if I'm on the right track to getting started with other beginner breeds. And the animal sheltors around here like the Richmond SPCA which i just started to attend too as well for there dog day out program they dont have many beginner dogs to work with but i still enjoy going there to learn more and do what i can for them. I am also learning how to properly walk dogs at the sheltors when they have more volunteer slots available since I have only walked 6 different dogs. I also dont have any experience giving medicine or CPR to dogs and would prefer a dog that does not have to be given any medication or have any major illnesses so if an emergency arises i would not have too take him to the vet unprepared until i learn how to give dogs their medicine and preform CPR on them if needed. I work part time on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at a record store. But im flexible any day of the week to feed, give some playtime and cuddles to your dog from 3pm - 10pm on the weekdays and weekends. I will update this in the future if I need to change it. I have never owned any pets because the house i have been in my whole life is not a compatible place for pets, and this would be my first time caring for someone elses pet in there home. But i will listen carefully and be patient with you about asking questions for your dogs likes and dislikes, what habbits she or he makes, what feeding times work, bathroom routines, when they like to relax or cuddle, what toys do they like to play with, behavioral issues, signs of anxiety and stress and about your property layout amongst other questions.

About: While I’m new to Rover, I’ve been caring for pets for friends and family for the past four years, in addition to caring for my own pets throughout my life. My previous dog, a Yorkie, gave me experience caring for a senior pet, including administering eye drops, following medication schedules, and managing a special diet. My current dog, Bella, is a 10-month-old AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy graduate who has taught me plenty about keeping up with energetic young dogs! I also share my home with two friendly, affectionate senior cats, so I’m comfortable caring for pets of different ages and temperaments. I work Sunday through Wednesday, so my Thursdays through Saturdays are completely dedicated to your pup! My black Labrador, Bella, and I typically walk 1–2 miles three times a day. On hotter days, we switch to indoor enrichment and training games instead of long walks. Whether your dog loves an adventure or prefers a slower pace, I’m happy to tailor their stay to their individual needs. Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I only accept dogs that are a good fit for my home and Bella, and I always recommend a meet-and-greet beforehand. Whether I’m boarding, dropping in for a visit, or taking your pup on a walk, I’ll follow their normal routine and tailor my care to their energy level and needs. I’ll also keep you updated with photos so you can enjoy your time away with peace of mind.

About: Im a dog lover at heart and mind, with a history of dog training (agility and obedience) and multiple references for dog sitting. I do work full-time with a flexable schedule which allows me a lunch break for extra care. Feel free to make contact with any questions. About this sitter: Im an outgoing, energetic, pet loving person. I lost my girl Arwen who I had for 16 years. I am available for house sitting with morning and evening drop by or overnights. Feel free to make contact with any questions. Depending on distance from work I may be able to do lunch time drop bys also. Cost and needs, with length of time and number of pets, may be negotiable. Why I love dog sitting I've been a dog lover my entire life...I grew up with multiple kinds of dogs; poodles to black labs. After college I adopted a cat then settling down here in RVA where I rescued Arwen, my mini-Australian Shepard. We had a history of obedience and agility training, she was CGC certified. My experience administering medication Yes, I have given medication to multiple dogs and cats. I do work full-time near Chippenham and Midlothian Turnpike, so if close I can do a lunch drop by. Currently I am available for house/dog sitting including overnights at your home or mine. I am a k9 lover and would spend as much time loving, petting, and cuddling your pup as they would like. Walks are important, short or long, and outside hikes for nice days are great also.

We had such a great experience! She came over ahead of time to meet Duke, Winnie, and Green Bean, and immediately made us feel comfortable leaving them in her care. She was so kind, patient, and attentive with all three of our dogs and treated them like they were her own. You can tell she genuinely loves animals and takes the responsibility seriously. We felt completely at ease knowing our pups were being well cared for. We would absolutely recommend her and will definitely use her again!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Afton. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
