“Kelly took excellent care of my dog while I was away for the weekend, and she was so communicative and kept me totally up to date. She was also so patient when my pup unfortunately had an upset tummy! Thank you Kelly!”

“Shana took wonderful care of my 4 month year puppy, and I couldn’t recommend her more. As a new pet owner, I was worried being away from my pup, but Shana made this experience super easy. She sent regular updates and photos, and Sancho seemed to have a wonderful time. When I need to board again, I’ll choose Shana and I recommend you do as well.”

“Courtney was great watching our dog Pippin! She was very communicative and also sent great pictures. Pip can be a little nervous in new situations and she seemed to have a good time and Courtney set her at ease. Thanks so much!”
“We were a bit nervous as our BB had never been boarded. Turned out she had a fabulous vacation! BB had made herself at home with Shauni & Connor as well as their young son. She enjoyed playing, hugs & daily walks when the weather permitted. She had fun with her new dog pals. We love she was treated as one of their own. We will definitely be booking fun play dates now &then,or other times we need a pup sitter.”

About: I’ve been taking care of animals since I was a kid. I’m mainly experienced in caring for cats and dogs, but also farm animals and smaller pets like gerbils. I’m hoping to make this a full time job as I love being with animals. My schedule is wide open to meet all your pets needs. My spacious home is in a quiet suburban neighborhood with an open field just down the road. I have 2 friendly cats, however visiting pets could be separated as needed.

“Kristin and James took great care of our dog while we were on a family vacation in Ogunquit. They were communicative and warm. We know our dog had a great time in their care, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again.”

“Our pup had a wonderful time with Janice, and with great communication throughout the stay we had peace of mind she was well cared for. Would definitely recommend and look forward to our next booking!”

About: Hi! My name is Crystal, and I’m 40 years old. I’m looking to make a little extra income doing something I absolutely love! There’s nothing (besides being a mom) that I love more than ALL dogs! 🐶❤️ I have two dogs of my own, so I know how special our furry family members are and how important it is to make sure they’re loved and cared for. I also spent some time working at a doggy daycare, where I got to work directly with dogs, and I enjoyed it so much! I’m available most days for dog walking, dog sitting, or helping out with your pups whenever you need an extra hand. Please don’t hesitate to reach out! I’d love to help! 🐾💕 I’m currently working part time so I have plenty of room in my schedule to fit your schedule. I also don’t mind traveling to be more accommodating I live on 5 acres in a secluded neighborhood and have a friendly Boston terrier to keep your pup company. There is also the option to be crated or kept separate if needed.
“Jude was incredible with Sally and she had the time of her life. He was very responsive, prompt and took really great care of her. We would love to have Sally stay with him again in the future!”

“Our 1 y.o. sheltie was so well taken care of at a Lorenzo’s. We were married in town and needed a local dog stay. We fully enjoyed our wedding with the confidence that our dog was safe and sound with lots of excercise and attention paid by both host and host pups. He’s still tired our from his stay! Lorenzo sent pics and videos often and was very easy to coordinate drop off / pick up”

“Gary and his wife provided a wonderful getaway for my boy, Theo. I’m so grateful to have found a fun, safe space for my dog to stay and trusted people to take care of him. Theo can’t wait for his next visit :)”

About: Growing up on a farm has given me an immense amount of pet care experience. I have been an avid horseback rider my entire life. There are few animals I haven’t owned. I have managed a doggy daycare as well as trained dogs in obedience and for hunting birds. Anytime after 530 Tuesday through Friday I am available for walks or checking in on your pet. Friday night through Monday afternoon my schedule is flexible. I am a vigilant and aware pet sitter. Our home is on a quiet street and the backyard, while not fenced, is majorly closed in.
“We had an excellent experience with Kathy. This was our first time boarding our dog as well as our first time using Rover and Kathy did an excellent job communicating with us - taking the time to learn about our dog as well as thoroughly explaining her set up. She clearly has lots of experience with all kinds of dogs - we even learned some tips from her- AND most importantly our dog had a great time!! We loved the videos she sent also.”

“Emily and Spencer were fabulous with Coco and I would highly recommend them! Emily was great with communication and sending pictures, which I really appreciated. You can tell that they really got to know and enjoy our dog, which meant a lot. Our dog was taking some medication during her stay and Emily did a great job administering them for us. I am looking forward to our Coco staying with them again!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - York Harbor
A lovely couple! I am very picky with who I choose to pet sit since my dog is a Velcro lovey dovey guy who needs genuine human affection; I instantly felt comfortable leaving my Berner under Kristin and James’ care after our meet and greet. I was updated with photos and my dog had a grin on his face. I would definitely utilize their services again.

Mary has cared for our pup in her home several times while we’ve been away on vacation. He’s on a special diet and daily medication and Mary took care of this without any problems. She also sends daily pics which is so reassuring to see him happy. We highly recommend Mary and will continue to work with her. She is a pleasure to work with!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their York Harbor home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your York Harbor.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your York Harbor sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ME ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
