“Dickson is a very caring dog sitter. He did everything he could to make my bulldog feel comfortable and have fun. He gives video and picture updates of their adventures. I would absolutely have him watch my dog again!”

“This was my first time meeting Debbie and she did a fantastic job with our black labrador! I can tell he enjoyed his almost full-week stay with Debbie! She is wonderful and I will be seeking her for pet care services in the future.”

“This was my first time leaving our dog with ANYONE so I was a bit nervous. Jacob was wonderful! He was very reassuring and accommodating to our needs. He updated me daily on how my dog was doing and sent pictures. I will definitely us Jacob again!”

“I was very pleased on leaving my dog with Shauna & Pete. They kept me up to date on my dog and how he was doing daily. I had peace of mind leaving my dog with this Family.”

“Rachel was so amazing to our pup Ryder! She sent us great updates and gave us peace of mind that our boy was left in good hands. He was so loved and spoiled. We will definitely be using Rachel again in the future!”

“Once again, Derek and his family took wonderful care of my dog Bear while we were on vacation. He and his family treat him like part of their family, and that’s what really matters to us. Thank you so much, Derek.”

“Absolutely lovely working with Angela on taking care of our pup, Izzy. She was super helpful in meeting before our first time leaving Izzy with her and giving her time to get used to her place and other dogs. Butterscotch and Lucky are super sweet and I think Izzy really loved having some buddies to spend time with! Would definitely recommend.”

“Thank you Elaina and Joseph for allowing me to book with a short notice and for being very flexible with dropoff and pickup times. Communication was excellent, constant updates and pictures, and great care. You'll definitely be my sitter of choice when I'm in the area. Thank you!!”

“Truly incredible ❤️ We needed a last-minute sitter for a 1.5 week trip. Makena was miraculously available and ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. It’s always a little scary leaving your dog with someone you don’t know, but we did a quick meet and greet ahead of time and then Makena was amazing about sending photos and videos with quick updates over the course of the stay. Our dog was so well cared for and clearly felt loved and cozy in Makena’s home. I’m so so grateful and so sad this was our first and last time with Makena given we’re moving out of state soon. Any and every dog who gets to spend time with her (and her incredibly sweet dog, Bear) is so lucky! Our girl can be super anxious and shy but felt right at home from the very first day. Makena is awesome ❤️”

“Megan took wonderful care of my 8‑month‑old golden retriever during his very first 5‑day boarding stay. She kept me updated every day with pictures and videos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. He was clearly happy, safe, and well cared for. I’m very happy with her service and will definitely recommend her and book with her again.”

“Judy was absolutely wonderful to work with for our dog Simba. We felt comfortable and relaxed to leave him for an extended time for the first time. We could also tell that Simba really enjoyed his time with Judy and Bill. They made him feel right at home, and took such thoughtful and attentive care of him!”

“We had our 1 year old dog stay with Melynda for a couple of day visits and then for one week - this was our dog's first time away from home. Our dog had a great time, was well cared for, and she enjoyed playing with the other dogs. We appreciated the updates about our dog. We will be booking with her again the next time!”

“Barb, was absolutely wonderful. Very accommodating and communicative. Our dog is a picky eater and she even went as far as feeding him out of her hand to make sure he was eating enough. We couldn’t have asked for a better care taker for our fur baby. Will definitely book again!”

“JoAnne was fantastic! One of my dogs had to see the vet while we were gone. JoAnne took her and administered medication without a second thought! My dogs had a fantastic time and we will definitely use her again!!”

“Many thanks to Salina and her family for taking such great care of Payton, and taking him on lots of walks! Salina and her kids are kind and caring, and it seems that Payton had a fun visit! It also set our mind at ease to receive pictures over the weekend. Thanks again!”
“Open & easy communication. My dog that is very hesitant of new people went up to Norma automatically and on her own. Norma followed my instructions for medication & being leashed. She eased my anxiety greatly for what I’d consider a worrisome dog (she is a runner) will be using again for our next trip. Thank you Norma!”

“Michelle was very accommodating and took excellent care of Sally. She listened to our current schedule for Sally, took her for long walks and let Sally be comfortable in her home. I would highly recommend Michelle to watch your pet.”

“Excellent and highly recommend ! very welcoming and inviting while providing a safe and happy place for our dog while we’re away. Will book again without reservation . I appreciated the updates and pics also. Thank you Again , Mariya & Eva.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Woodstock
Erika did a fantastic job caring for our dogs. Since this was our first vacation in several years, I was nervous about leaving them for an extended period. Lincoln, our senior, requires multiple medications and supplements, and Bella struggles with separation anxiety. Erika and Ryan were so reassuring during the meet-and-greet that I felt at ease immediately; seeing Bella flip over for belly rubs was the best sign! While we were away, we received photo and video updates twice a day. I loved her comments and how she picked up on our dogs personalities 😊 It was clear the dogs were happy, enjoyed their numerous walks, and was never left alone. I’m so grateful to have found Erika and Ryan —they truly understood our dogs' needs and gave them so much love!

We were so happy that Gertie got to be a part of Mary’s family for our week away. We got many pictures and updates about their day, and Gertie came home much less anxious than when she’s had to spend time at a normal kennel. I felt so much more relaxed on my vacation knowing that Gertie was getting such personal attention and love, and even got to sleep in a bed with a human like she’s used to at home!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
