“We have used Ruth’s drop-in services before so we had full trust in her to watch our pets overnight for a weekend. She has great communication. The updates were daily and included so many cute pictures. Our pets love her and we feel relaxed knowing they are in good hands!”

“Gabby did a wonderful job watching Luly and Koda! She provided plenty of updates throughout their stay, including pictures and videos, which we really appreciated. She followed all of the instructions we provided and made sure both pets were well cared for. Most importantly, she kept Luly and Koda safe, comfortable, and happy while we were away, which gave us peace of mind. We would book with Gabby again and recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter!”

“Abigail was amazing with our dogs, Bronx and Brooklyn. She was house sitting for us for a week and we couldn’t be happier with her services. We would absolutely recommend Abigail to care for your fur baby/babies.”

“Olivia was great with our German shepherd puppy! She was knowledgeable, administered her medicine with ease. We felt completely comfortable with her staying in our house and with maple! She went above and beyond with her care for our puppy. Thank you”

About: I've cared for my own dog for most of my life and have always had a strong love for animals. I enjoy spending time with dogs, whether that's going on walks, playing, giving them attention, or making sure they feel comfortable and cared for. I also volunteer at local animal shelters, where I help walk dogs and spend time with them. Working with dogs of different sizes, personalities, and energy levels has helped me become patient, attentive, and confident in caring for pets. I genuinely love being around animals and look forward to treating every dog as if they were my own. I'm currently studying Elementary Education and spend my weekdays in elementary schools during the day. Because of this, I'm primarily available in the evenings and at night. I enjoy staying active, and spending time with dogs is one of my favorite ways to unwind after a busy day. Whether your pet needs an evening walk, drop-in visit, overnight care, or extra companionship, I'm committed to providing reliable, attentive care and making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I take the time to learn each dog's routine, personality, and needs so I can provide the best care possible. I'm attentive during walks, follow all instructions carefully, and make sure pets are always supervised and secure. My goal is to create a positive, stress-free experience where your dog feels comfortable, loved, and well cared for at all times.
“Jaylin is a wonderful caregiver for our dogs. She took excellent care of them and communicated with us well throughout our trip. We will ask her to house sit again and would recommend her without reservation.”

“Grace was great with our pets during her 3 night stay! She was willing to come over for a meet and greet for a last minute booking. It was great to meet her in person and show her around the house. She is knowledgable and took excellent care of the pets and our house. We will use her again in the future !”

“Shadae was an excellent sitter. She sent multiple photos and updates each day. Our dog and cat seemed very comfortable and cuddly with her. We would absolutely hire her again.”

“Thank you so much for watching our fur babies. You were amazing! Super easy to deal with and we can see our babies were loved! Also the little animal line up was hilarious to come home to! We appreciate everything!”

About: I grew up in a house that always had 2-4 large dogs at any given time. I often took care of them including walks and grooming, and did the same for neighborhood friends and family members as soon as I could ride a bike. In the past few years, I've also spent a lot of time around and caring for cats. As a graduate student, I currently have evenings free to drop in on pets when you're having a long day! My weekends are free for caring for your pets if you're ever out of town or need the hands! I'm comfortable with all kinds of dog and cat situations, and will take care to respect your home and keep your pets safe and cared for in that environment!
About: I always try my best to follow the dog's routines and specific needs just as the owner requests. I also like to take them on frequent walks to help them adjust more quickly to a new environment. I'm currently home with my kids, so I have lots of time to spend playing with your pups. I'm also usually available for weekend boarding. I have a fenced back yard area where your pup could run around and play. Also I have separate half basement play area for kids and pups.
“Serena was so easy to work with! She was friendly and kind and our dogs weee so happy when we returned! The house was clean, she left great notes, and she sent us photos and a small video while we were away. We will definitely use her again in the future! The service is spendy, compared to our earlier dog-sitter prices ($40/night for 2 dogs), but this felt so much more professional!”

“We were especially happy with Allie's stay with our dog, Leia. Leia is an elderly dog with medical needs. She becomes agitated when she stays by herself overnight. Allie was able to house sit for us and stay with Leia when she was not working or at school. She did an exceptional job caring for Leia. Leia agreed because as Alley left, she wanted to go with her even though we had just gotten back from being gone for two weeks! We will definitely hire Allie again. We recommend her without any hesitation!”

“Tessa did a great job watching our 2 yr old lab in our home for the week Skye is very scared of new people when she meets them but made a new friend at the meet and greet! Tessa was her new play buddy and seemed at ease and comfortable with her during her stay. I know this because she would give me updates and pictures every day to put my mind at ease while we were so far away. She even helped me feed the neighborhood cats! She left our house just as clean as we left it. I will definitely be contacting her next time we need someone to watch or let Skye out for us!”

Madeline was so sweet and sent daily “pupdates” with photos so I knew my dog was in great hands while we were away. She left the house super clean and even brought in our mail which is more than we expected. Thank you for your professionalism and keeping our dog fed and happy so we could enjoy our family trip!

Makenzie was amazing with Harley!! She sent lots of photos and kept in great contact with me... I could tell Harley was enjoying his time with her!! She did a great job keeping my flowers watered and my house looked great when I returned.. she's a very sweet sitter with a fantastic personality.. I'm very satisfied with the attention she gave to Harley and my home!! She's a wonderful pet sitter 😊
Allison was absolutely wonderful with our challenging fur-babies. All the dogs are large and older, with unique medical needs, making it difficult to find someone to care for them. Allison was the perfect person! She communicated frequently, could handle anything unexpected, and sent funny pictures to keep us informed. We will definitely hire Allison again and give her our highest recommendation!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Lafayette walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Lafayette maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Lafayette choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
