“Claire was *fantastic*! She took incredible care of our menagerie for five nights/6 days: three mid size dogs (50-60lb); two older, each on a number of medications, and a very spunky 5yo. We also have three cats including a frail 15 yo; and 9 hens. We live in an old farmhouse that is in various stages of renovation - for sure, not the easiest for house sitting. Thankfully Claire was undaunted by the challenge. During our time away, she was terrific providing updates and was super quick with replies when I had the additional need to check in- super reassuring, especially give that this was our first time with Rover, and having a combined housesitter/animal sitter at this house. We returned home to a very content crew - the truest sign of being well cared for in our absence, and the house in perfect order- seemingly better than we left it. We highly recommend Claire, without reservation. She was truly outstanding.”

“After having Jillian and being new to rover, I would prefer her over others I have utilized from this app! I felt most comfortable with her care of my 2 pups and had great communication with providing updates and pictures! Shes a lovely person and easy to connect with! Highly recommended, will use for future stays!”

About: I have cared for and loved animals world wide- from pet sitting locally, providing food and water and kindness to strays along my travels, to volunteering at Australia Zoo. Since I was younger, animals have always held a huge place in my heart- rescuing farm kittens, dog walking for neighbors, and swerving to avoid hitting a frog with my bike. My love goes beyond our domesticated pets - I have volunteered at a wildlife rehab so I also do what I can for our local wildlife. And I’ve seen the good the bad and the ugly when I shadowed along side my best friend in Australia during her overnight emergency vet shifts. Providing comfort and love to animal, domesticated or wild, is a true honor. I am self employed as a Massage Therapist located in New Milford. I work Mondays-Fridays and typically start between 2/3:00pm and work until 8(ish). I work one Saturday a month and those hours vary- usually a 4 hour day. With owning my own business I can set my hours- when I have notice I can always schedule accordingly to the pet’s needs. When caring for my/your pet, I focus on maintaining their normal routine so they feel safe, comfortable, and secure. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality, preferences, and needs—whether that means playful engagement, gentle companionship, or giving them space. I ensure pets are fed on schedule, have fresh water, receive medication as directed, and get plenty of attention and affection. I keep litter boxes and living areas clean, monitor for any changes in behavior or health, and communicate updates and photos to owners for peace of mind. I treat every pet as if they were my own, with patience, respect, and lots and lots of love.
“Katie was fantastic! She kept me updated on the excitement and was extremely respectful and trustworthy in my home. The animals are loved her. She was on time and followed all my directions and I would absolutely trust her with my animals in the future.”

“Jeffrey takes great care of our pup, Tia. We used him for visits and walks prior to our most recent week vacation. We recently went away for a week and Jeffrey stayed at our home. He followed any/all directions we had left for our dog and kept us in the loop daily when we checked in. We trust him to stay in our home and take great care of our dog. Our dog is typically anxious and when we got home from our trip, we saw that Tia ate very well while we were gone which is sometimes a struggle when we leave her. We were very happy with her care. We look forward to continuing to use Jeffrey for future trips and daily walks.”

“Sowatey was excellent! He sent several photos and kept me informed the entire time I was away. He is super respectful and truly loves spending time with animals. I highly recommend Sowatey!”

“She was great with Rolly and caring for our home when we were away. I'd highly recommend her to anyone that is looking to get away for a few days but may be afraid to leave their loved pets behind. Highly recommend Anastasia!!”

About: I’ve always been comfortable with dogs of all types. I grew up with dogs and have spent my whole life around animals, so caring for them feels natural to me. I’m calm, confident, and make sure to adjust to each dog’s individual needs so they feel safe, understood, and well cared for. I work full‑time during the day, but I’m available in the early mornings and evenings to take care of your pet. That gives me plenty of time for feeding, walks, playtime, or whatever they need before and after work. Mondays are my completely open day, so I’m available all day then for longer visits or extra care. My goal is to ensure your pet feels genuinely cared for. I pay close attention to their routine and what they need, and I make sure they stay comfortable, happy, and relaxed the whole time they’re with me.

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is the level of care, patience, and genuine love I bring to every pet I work with. I don’t just “watch” animals—I build trust with them and treat them like my own. My experience as a caregiver has really shaped how attentive and compassionate I am, especially when it comes to understanding different needs and personalities. I also have fostering experience, which has taught me how to work with pets who may be anxious, shy, or adjusting to new environments. Because of that, I’m very comfortable helping animals feel safe and supported. I have experience caring for both puppies and senior pets. With puppies, I can help reinforce basic training, routines, and positive behaviors. With senior pets, I’m extra gentle, patient, and attentive to things like mobility, medications, and comfort. Overall, I pride myself on being reliable, communicative, and someone you can truly trust with your pet. My goal is always to make sure your pet feels happy, safe, and loved while you’re away. I am unavailable mondays and Wednesdays but available all day on Saturday and Sunday. I can work after 4:30pm on Tuesday Thursday and Friday :) Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities. Whether I’m caring for pets in your home or stopping by for visits, I do everything I can to make the experience feel calm, consistent, and stress-free. In your home, I respect your space and follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible—including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and playtime. I make sure doors are secure, hazards are avoided, and your pet is always supervised and safe. I also keep you updated with messages and photos so you feel confident while you’re away. I’m very attentive to behavior and body language, which helps me quickly notice if something feels off. My background as a caregiver has made me especially detail-oriented, patient, and calm in any situation. Cleanliness is also very important to me—I keep feeding areas, litter boxes, and living spaces clean and comfortable at all times. Overall, I aim to create a safe, loving environment where your pet feels relaxed and cared for, and where you can have complete peace of mind.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Washington Depot on Rover is $69.55 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,798 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Washington Depot. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Washington Depot walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Washington Depot maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Washington Depot choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Washington Depot. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
