“Lisa got my sweet elder cat, Pauladine, through a long vacation without us. Lisa provided a photoshoot of the cat that showed her content, cuddled, and happy. I think Pauladine thinks she is the luckiest cat! We are grateful for Lisa's caring and unparalleled cat-lady mojo.”

“Bailey was excellent! I tend to leave very specific instructions, and Bailey followed them to a tee! My feeders have a light that indicates that they’re working properly and I said “bonus points if the rover pic has the lights on” and every single rover card had a picture with the lights on!! Really allows me to feel like my cats are in good hands when I leave. Also this was a very last-minute trip and Bailey was fast to respond, and available for key pick up before I left. 5/5 for sure!”
“Jennifer was awesome with Callie..She took excellent care of all her feeding and hygiene needs spent time entertaining her…lot’s of fun picture. We would highly recommend Jennifer”

“Hailey & Joshua did a fantastic job of watching my cat while I was away. He tends to have stranger danger but with their special touch, he warmed right up to them. I really appreciate all the care and attention they gave my cat. I would highly recommend them!”

“Anna always follows directions and makes sure all pets are taken care of fully. We are always confident that our pets will get the best attention while we are away on vacation when we book Anna! We highly recommend Anna for any pet care needs!”

“Deanna is fantastic! We were initially nervous about leaving our cat but Deanna took great care of him. We loved receiving the text updates and photos from her each day - he looked like he was having a lot of fun which was very reassuring. We would definitely book Deanna again.”
“Izzy is always amazing with our pets. She is easy going and communicative and always sends lots of pictures of her drop ins. She consistently spends over 30 minutes with our cats and is great! We’ve used her for about 8 months now for week long and weekend trips.”

“Amy was great with our kitties! We were so grateful she was willing to do a meet and greet beforehand. She was very communicative, organized, and kind to our cats! We will definitely keep her in mind for future drop ins!”

“Ryland ( like Island :) ) did a great job taking care of Sonny - it was so wonderful getting a daily progress report and pictures while away from my furry one. It brings a real sense of comfort knowing Sonny was well taken care of and it couldn't have been done without Ryland's kind asisstance. Thank you again Ryland - much appreciated.”

About: I have been house/pet sitting for a few years now. But aside from that I have a dog and cat of my own! I love hanging out with animals and giving them love and affection. I have loved animals since I was little and have helped take care of my pets since elementary school! I would love to show your animals some love while your away, letting them know they are safe! I am currently unemployed and have a bunch of free time to engage with your animals! I want to include taking care of loving animals into my weekly and/or daily routine! I will walk your dog, play fetch, snuggle and give lots of tummy rubs! I know that your pet will be most comfortable in their safe, familiar environment and want to make sure that your pet is happy!
“Elizabeth took fantastic care of our kitty and our home. We came home to a happy pet, our mail and packages brought in, and the place looks just as we left it. (And possibly, she also refilled our bird feeder? Not at our request, but I’m sure the birds appreciated it, and we do too!) Elizabeth is a great communicator and seemed very down to earth, which helped us felt at ease leaving her to take care. She sent regular kitty updates and photos which we also really appreciate when hiring a Rover sitter. We would certainly recommend her as a pet and house sitter, and would 100% book again.”

“Neah was great with my cats! She even got my shy cat to come out for pets :), and took great care of my old guy too! I really appreciate her good communication and flexibility with timing.”

About: **I do have base access!** I grew up with cats, dogs, hermit crabs, and even mice. 🐭 I work part-time, so I have a lot of flexibility. Know that I have a cat of my own, Bo (8 years), but he does great with other pets. I currently work part-time, which gives me plenty of flexibility and lots of time to care for your furry baby! I’m able to provide plenty of attention, playtime, cuddles, and check-ins throughout the day, so your pet won’t be left feeling lonely while you’re away. I live in a spacious three-bedroom apartment with plenty of safe space for your kitty to explore and get comfortable. For new visitors, I reserve my laundry room/guest bathroom as their own quiet space so they can decompress and adjust to their new environment at their own pace. Once they’re comfortable, there’s a long hallway that’s perfect for zoomies and plenty of room to explore! I also have a third-floor balcony that my own cat absolutely loves. He spends hours watching the hummingbirds fly up to visit him. 🐦 Any visiting kitties will always be closely supervised if they spend time on the balcony with me. I know every cat adjusts differently, so I’m happy to give them as much space, attention, or company as they need to feel safe and at home. 🐱

About: I’ve fostered dogs with the company Animal pad in San Diego, I adopted one of those dogs and I volunteer for the Kitsap humane society. I’m recently out of the Navy and about to start school. Looking for short term income where I can have a flexible schedule on the new journey in my life. I will make sure your pet feels safe and cared for while you are away and send plenty of cute pictures so you know they are cared for so you can enjoy your time.
About: I’ve grown up with pets and truly can’t imagine life without them! I currently have a 12-year-old Frenchton who I’ve had since she was just 3 months old, as well as two cats. Caring for animals has always been a big part of my life, and I understand how important it is to have someone you can trust to care for your pets while you’re away. I’ll treat your pets with the same love, patience, and attention I give my own. I work from home a couple of days a week and have a fairly flexible schedule, which gives me plenty of time to care for your pets. I’m available for boarding Friday through Wednesday and can accommodate drop-in visits any day of the week. As a longtime pet owner myself, I understand how important it is to know your pets are in good hands while you’re away. I’ll follow your pet’s normal routine and any care instructions you provide, and I’m happy to send regular photos and updates so you can feel confident they’re happy and comfortable. In my home, pets will be treated like part of the family and given plenty of attention, affection, and a safe, comfortable place to relax.

“Amanda was a great host for my pup! She was flexible to my schedule, good communication and handled my hyper puppy well tiring her out. Very thankful for her help! Will definitely book again.”

I am well versed in puppy training from potty training to crate training and learning to walk on a leash, through positive reinforcement. I will love, care for and play with your loved one as they are my own. My home has a fully fenced in yard that is easily accessible via a doggy door. For senior pets, there are no stairs in the home. Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Virginia
Lisa as always just does an outstanding job taking care of our cat Callie. We always know she is well cared for looking at the pictures she sends. Callie has come to know her so it makes it nice that she interacts with her. We highly recommend her for great care with your animals. Linda Johnson

Hailey & Joshua did a fantastic job of watching my cat while I was away. He tends to have stranger danger but with their special touch, he warmed right up to them. I really appreciate all the care and attention they gave my cat. I would highly recommend them!

Absolutely amazing!! Very responsive, took good care of our cats, and very sweet! There was definitely a comfort in knowing that someone that was reliable and sweet to our babies was taking good care of them while we were gone! Made our trip so much more relaxing since we didn’t have to stress or worry about our cats. Also did amazing with our one cat who has a lot of food allergies and requires a little more care when it comes to his food (eats special food and we have feeders that will only open for the specific cat’s microchip)! Overall, highly recommend and will 100% be rebooking!!

Sarah, as always, is amazing. I trust her to care for and love my critters like her own. My geriatric kitty cat hauls her old bones out of her heated cat bed to climb down the stairs and greet Sarah. I've seen her do it, and she doesn't even get herself up to greet ME! She's particular and crotchety as all hell, but she loves Sarah. Honestly, there's no greater evidence that somebody is good people as when an old calico gives her stamp of approval consistently. Neko thinks a visit from Auntie Sarah is the best thing. Only just slightly less so then a Churu, IYKYK!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
