“Maricel was amazing! This is the first time using Rover. She communicated with me everyday and sent pictures. I felt very peaceful knowing she was there to take care of my dog.”

“We were very grateful to have Jennifer's help with our three pets while out of town (an adult dog, a puppy, and a cat). We appreciated her enthusiasm to be there for our pets, be a presence for our home while we were gone, and it gave us a lot of peace of mind. She was very communicative and respectful of our home, and she took good care of our animals. Thank you, Jennifer!”

“Rebecca is a wonderful pet sitter! She provided the best care to our fur babies. They can be a little skittish with strangers but she won them over quickly. I was so happy to see the photos of happy and calm pups! It helped us enjoy our time away.”

About: I am well versed on various training, dog sitting, boarding and walking methods for our canine family members. Gained hands on experience of training and handling with my 11 year old GSD. I personally researched for years and only then successfully trained my current 10 month old GSD, using my other 11 year old GSD as a control. I will offer free consults to clients in need of repeat services in order to determine the tailored needs for your dog. Always willing to go above and beyond for my love of dogs. Excel with all dogs and utilize communication with the client in order to fully understand the specific qualities, needs and wants of the dog in order to organize and manage effective walks/boarding/training. I have been living in the area for over 20 years and know all of the dog-friendly parks or areas that provide a clean and safe environment offering an array of enrichment. Knowledgeable in training and recognizing animal body language used to establish positive communication with the dogs. I can not only improve the lives of the dog, but also clearly communicate and empower the owner with training tips to continue effective conditioning for a well-trained dog. My remote position of over 5 years as a Sr Mortgage Underwriter was recently moved into the office (Tampa) and decided to take time off. Therefore, I am available 24/7 and mainly focusing on the transition into the Dog Walking/Boarding/Training business. *HOUSE SITTING SERVICE: Active as a less expensive alternative to booking numerous Drop-In visits with multiple dogs. About: Hello! My name is Brooke. I am an avid dog lover! I offer dog sitting, dog daycare, and walks. Professionally, I have worked at several dog daycares as a handler. My daily duties were to supervise around 20 dogs at one time, feed, and administer meds. I am equipped with the knowledge of dog body language and dog safety. Personally, I have grown up with dogs and cats my entire life, being the primary caregiver. I have even fostered some exotic animals such as bearded dragons and ferrets. I am passionate about the care of all animals! I am working full time, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to care for your pet. On my off time, I would love to provide care and comfort for your fur baby as you take the time to do what you need to do with peace of mind. I want to provide a calm and safe environment for your pet. Bring their favorite toys, blankets, bed over and my home will become theirs for a few hours!
“Caitlin is amazing! She responds super fast, and I hired her for a couple of nights to stay with my nervous kitty. She was able to bond with him which is tough to do, and sent me pictures and updates while I was away. I highly recommend Caitlin for house/pet sitting!”

“Ryeleigh stayed out our house for three nights to take care of our dog and cat. When we got home, they both seemed happy and were not stressed out at all that we had been gone. The house was clean and tidy and Ryeleigh even took the sheets off the bed and put them in the washer for us. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great house and pet sitter and we will definitely book her again!”

About: I have had a lifelong love for animals and have been a pet owner for many years. I have experience caring for dogs, cats, and birds. My passion for animals and their well-being has only grown stronger with each and every pet I have had the honor of caring for. I have the sweetest fur babies, a lab and a husky, and they would love to have a companion. I understand the importance of providing proper care and attention to pets as my pups are very special to me and have a strong desire to turn my passion for animals into a career as a professional pet sitter. I understand that leaving your pet with a stranger can be stressful, which is why I am determined to establish a strong and trustful relationship with my clients before any sitting services are scheduled. I will also keep open communication with the pet owners throughout the process to ensure that their furry friends are comfortable and happy in my care. As a pet owner myself, I understand the importance of finding someone who you can trust to care for your beloved pets while you are away. I am reliable and responsible, and will always put the needs of your pets first. I am also flexible and can work with you to create a care plan that fits your pet's specific needs. I am fully committed to providing the highest quality of care for each and every pet I work with, and I am confident that my love and passion for animals will make me a great pet sitter. I am excited about the opportunity to care for your pets and provide you with the peace of mind that comes with knowing your furry friend is in good hands. About: I’ve been petting sitting since I was 13 from walking my neighbors dog while they were away for the day to feeding my best friends snake when she went on a 2 week vacation. There aren’t many animals I dislike and always open to taking care of new animals. I currently work in retail with a varying schedule but always off by 6 pm and every other weekend off. Most days I am in a 9-5 role but there are a few days that I open at 6 am. I am open to dog walking, house sitting at home or dropping in multiple times a day. I have multiple cats. I feed them a both wet food and dry food, scoop their litter boxes at least once a day with a once a week clean. I live in a small place, while I am not able to board I will check on your animal multiples times if needed, make sure they get plenty of enrichment and loves.
“We couldn't have asked for a better dogsitter than Colten. He provided excellent care for both of our very different dogs -- one large and anxious, one small and elderly. We were able to relax and enjoy our vacation knowing that our pups were in such good hands!”

About: While I may not have years of experience like some, my love for animals does not fall short. I have taken care of dogs, big and small. Some with dietary restrictions and rigid feeding routines and others with a more lax regimen. I have house sat/pet sat and stayed in the owner’s home on multiple occasions. I’ve taken care of four dogs of various sizes at once, done drop-ins to feed/change water and let the puppers out for friends and family members, and I’ve also stopped by to do something as simple as a quick walk. Whatever you need, I can do it! I can assure you that I will treat your pet as my own. I currently work full time at a law firm in downtown but I live in Sanford. I have a reliable car and I don’t mind driving. I can pet sit/house sit on weekdays but I have work so it would be morning care and evening/night. I can also take a midday break if needed. I am off on the weekends so I will be able to be there full time. Depending on the owner, I have put pets into their crates when leaving the house or at night for sleeping but I have also let them roam freely, if the owner allows it.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Valdez
We could not have asked for a better dog sitter! This was the longest we have ever been away from Coquito and Lily, and she and her husband gave us complete peace of mind. They were reliable, consistent with every visit, sent thoughtful updates and photos every day, and took amazing care of our pups and our home. It was so obvious how much love and attention they gave them, and we loved that she even incorporated a little training and enrichment during her visits. They truly went above and beyond, and we never felt like they were just checking in on the dogs. They treated Coquito and Lily like they were their own, and that meant everything to us. Hands down the best Rover sitter we’ve ever had, and we will absolutely be booking with them again. Highly recommended.

Caitlin provided excellent care for our dog Charley while we were away. She has a huge heart, and we felt at ease knowing he was well taken care of. We really appreciated all of the updates we received with amazing pictures of our boy. Caitlin was extremely considerate and left the house clean and tidy. We look forward to having her back, and Charley does too 😊

Kelly is so great with all of my animals. She takes wonderful care of them and always goes above and beyond to make sure I’m able to relax while I’m away from my babies. 🙂 She is proactive about confirming bookings and special instructions, sends me lots of pictures, and even washed my pets’ dishes this past time! I truly don’t have to worry about anything when she’s on duty. We’ve had Kelly sit for us for a couple of years now. Two of our three pups have passed away over the years, so she is especially meaningful to us because she has that long-term knowledge, care, and reliability. Thank you so much, Kelly!

Aleena truly treated Teddy like her own (he even spent Thanksgiving with her family and helped decorate the Christmas tree)! She was super communicative, sent great updates / pictures throughout his stay and is an absolute GEM of a person. Highly recommend!! We will definitely be asking to work with her again.

Another great experience with Evelyn! She spent a week with our boy and kept us updated with a summary of the day and pics! I even texted her late at night when our neighborhood FB page said a dog was wandering our street. She responded very quickly with a pic of my boy safe and sound in the house. She is a trusted sitter for us we feel very lucky to have found her!

Absolutely the BEST!! I cannot recommend Andrew more! He was so knowledgeable, loving and caring for our two high energy German shepherds! He went above and beyond in every way! He did in home visits for our babies and the peace of mind he gave us through pictures and videos every time he dropped in were everything to us! DEFINITELY keeping him on speed dial!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 2,711 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Valdez. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Valdez walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Valdez maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Valdez choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Valdez. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
