We were very grateful to have Jennifer's help with our three pets while out of town (an adult dog, a puppy, and a cat). We appreciated her enthusiasm to be there for our pets, be a presence for our home while we were gone, and it gave us a lot of peace of mind. She was very communicative and respectful of our home, and she took good care of our animals. Thank you, Jennifer!

Hailey was great and I’ll definitely use her again. Daily pictures showed Lucy was happy and comfortable with us being gone. Upon leaving Hailey left a detailed message of what Lucy’s day had been like up to that point and we came home to a clean house!

About: While I may not have years of experience like some, my love for animals does not fall short. I have taken care of dogs, big and small. Some with dietary restrictions and rigid feeding routines and others with a more lax regimen. I have house sat/pet sat and stayed in the owner’s home on multiple occasions. I’ve taken care of four dogs of various sizes at once, done drop-ins to feed/change water and let the puppers out for friends and family members, and I’ve also stopped by to do something as simple as a quick walk. Whatever you need, I can do it! I can assure you that I will treat your pet as my own. I currently work full time at a law firm in downtown but I live in Sanford. I have a reliable car and I don’t mind driving. I can pet sit/house sit on weekdays but I have work so it would be morning care and evening/night. I can also take a midday break if needed. I am off on the weekends so I will be able to be there full time. Depending on the owner, I have put pets into their crates when leaving the house or at night for sleeping but I have also let them roam freely, if the owner allows it.

About: Hello! My name is Brooke. I am an avid dog lover! I offer dog sitting, dog daycare, and walks. Professionally, I have worked at several dog daycares as a handler. My daily duties were to supervise around 20 dogs at one time, feed, and administer meds. I am equipped with the knowledge of dog body language and dog safety. Personally, I have grown up with dogs and cats my entire life, being the primary caregiver. I have even fostered some exotic animals such as bearded dragons and ferrets. I am passionate about the care of all animals! I am working full time, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to care for your pet. On my off time, I would love to provide care and comfort for your fur baby as you take the time to do what you need to do with peace of mind. I want to provide a calm and safe environment for your pet. Bring their favorite toys, blankets, bed over and my home will become theirs for a few hours!

About: I'm a true animal lover, and pets have always been part of my family. I currently have two cats - Felix and Felicia who completely run the house, and I was lucky enough to spend many wonderful years with my dog before he passed away. Loving and losing a pet has only deepened my appreciation for the trust people place in someone caring for their furry family members. I'm a lifelong animal lover and proud cat mom to Felix and Felicia who completely run the house. I also had a beloved dog for many years, so I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else's care. Every pet is different, and I love getting to know their unique personality. Whether they want to play, cuddle, or simply have a familiar routine, I'll care for them like they're human, with patience, affection, and plenty of attention. I’m currently in between job so I have plenty of time to spend with your pet! I’m currently Available mom-Fridays from 9am- 6pm. I can offer consistent, unhurried visits and give your pet my full attention rather than rushing through a checklist. I come to your home so your pet can stay in their own familiar environment. no stress from a new place, no disruption to their routine. I’ll follow their normal feeding schedule, walk times, and favorite spots, and stick closely to any specific instructions you give me for feeding, medication, or playtime. You’ll get updates and photos during visits so you always know your pet is happy and well cared for.

About: Dogs have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've been a devoted dog owner for nearly my entire life and understand that every dog deserves patience, love, and dependable care. I had the privilege of loving my dog, Pirate, for 14 wonderful years, and I've cared for my Labrador, Milo, for the past six years. They have taught me the importance of consistency, exercise, affection, and recognizing each dog's unique personality and needs. After recently saying goodbye to Pirate and helping my daughter by returning Milo to her care, my home in Florida has become much quieter. I genuinely miss the companionship that dogs bring, which is why I decided to join Rover. Caring for dogs isn't just something I do—it's something I truly enjoy. Whether your pup needs a walk, playtime, cuddles, or a safe and loving place while you're away, I'll care for them as if they were my own. My goal is to give you peace of mind, knowing your furry family member is in kind, responsible, and experienced hands. I work full time typically 4 days a week. I am home during work days after 4:30pm. I am available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I have a partially fenced in backyard, but access to the left of my home to my neighors, it is a small backyard and very safe. I also have a dog park for walks and exercise.

About: I have 10 years of experience when it comes to caring for animals and it has always been something I'm truly passionate about. I treat every pet with the same love, care, and attention I would give my own. I understand that every pet has a unique personality and routine, so I take the time to make them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you're away. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, or simply relaxing with company, I'm happy to adapt to their individual needs. I'm committed to providing dependable care, keeping your pet's routine consistent, and sending regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. I'm comfortable caring for pets of different ages and energy levels, including puppies who need extra patience and older pets who may require a gentler approach. My goal is to create a positive, stress-free experience for both you and your pet, ensuring they feel loved, happy, and well cared for every step of the way. Pet care fits perfectly into my schedule right now. I recently finished my summer job as a camp counselor, so I currently have a very open and flexible schedule. This gives me plenty of time to provide attentive, reliable care and make sure your pet gets the attention they deserve. I truly enjoy spending time with animals, and I love being able to help pet owners feel at ease while they're away. Whether it's a quick check-in, longterm stay, or spending extra time keeping your pet company, I'm happy to work with your schedule and your pet's individual needs! I believe pets are happiest and most comfortable when they can stay in a familiar environment with their normal routines. When caring for pets in their own homes, I make sure to follow all instructions closely, including feeding schedules, playtime, walks, litter box care, and any other specific needs your pet may have. I treat every home with respect and care, keeping things clean, secure, and just as I found them. My priority is creating a calm and positive experience for your pet while you’re away. I also value communication and will provide updates and photos so you can feel confident knowing your pet is safe, comfortable, and well cared for!

About: Hi! I’ve volunteered at the Sanford animal shelter for a year and have great care and control of animals specially dogs. My first day training I witnessed a dog fight, so I am ready for anything! I learned how to care for these animals and how to make sure they are most importantly happy and healthy! My current job is at a dogtopia which I work with a large amount of dogs in one room alone. My passion for animals extends into my career as I am currently in school for veterinary assisting. I am currently working and am in vet technician school but want to spend my time doing things I have a passion for. I have a dog of my own who i’m taking care of on a daily basis as well. I always make sure safety is priority. I want animals to feel the love and happiness that they deserve. I have a dog at home which can be a buddy for your fur baby if needed.

Ryeleigh stayed out our house for three nights to take care of our dog and cat. When we got home, they both seemed happy and were not stressed out at all that we had been gone. The house was clean and tidy and Ryeleigh even took the sheets off the bed and put them in the washer for us. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great house and pet sitter and we will definitely book her again!

About: I’ve been petting sitting since I was 13 from walking my neighbors dog while they were away for the day to feeding my best friends snake when she went on a 2 week vacation. There aren’t many animals I dislike and always open to taking care of new animals. I currently work in retail with a varying schedule but always off by 6 pm and every other weekend off. Most days I am in a 9-5 role but there are a few days that I open at 6 am. I am open to dog walking, house sitting at home or dropping in multiple times a day. I have multiple cats. I feed them a both wet food and dry food, scoop their litter boxes at least once a day with a once a week clean. I live in a small place, while I am not able to board I will check on your animal multiples times if needed, make sure they get plenty of enrichment and loves.

I just got back from a long trip and Hailey took the BEST care of my dog, Maisy. Maisy has separation anxiety, but she loves Hailey so much and feels very comfortable with her. Hailey treats Maisy like her own dog, and she provides the best updates! 😁 Hailey kept Maisy happy and active while I was gone with many walks, backyard trips, and fun playtime. I am an anxious and pretty particular owner, but I feel 100% confident with Hailey watching my dog. When I arrived home, all of Maisy's nighttime activities were done (dinner fed, fur brushed, & teeth brushed) and the house was even cleaner than I left it. I would highly recommend Hailey, and I will definitely be hiring her again soon! 🐾

FAQs for House Sitting - Astor Farms

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 2,799 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Astor Farms. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Astor Farms walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Astor Farms maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Astor Farms choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Astor Farms. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
