Latasha was wonderful! From the beginning she came for a meet and greet and got down on the floor with my Percy! She asked very specific questions about his routine and wanted to ensure he was as comfortable as possible. During her stay she was very interactive with Percy. Took him on outings and walks and made sure he had plenty of play time and attention. On a night of a storm she let Percy sleep in bed with her to help comfort him!! Any concerns she had she messaged me immediately. She was great about sending updates and pictures to make sure I felt he was in good hands which definitely decreased my worries. Latasha treated my home with respect and left my home just as she found it. She even helped me with my newly planted garden to ensure it stayed watered while I was away. I will definitely use Latasha again in the future.

Ross was wonderful. Frequent communication, pictures of the doggo living his best life, and excellent pet care. He confidently handled my reactive dog who is not easy to walk. My house was neat and clean upon return, honestly could barely tell he had been here! Would absolutely book again or recommend to anyone.

Zach was amazing with Acacia, she’s super timid and he was very patient with her. I loved receiving photos and updates from him, and he really eased my mind while I was away from Acacia. I hope to work with Zach more in the future! 10/10 service. He also left the house exactly as we asked!

I haven't needed a sitter in a while, so I was super nervous to leave my pup with someone new for the first time. Cara very quickly eased all of my anxiety. She sent lots of detailed updates and asked questions as they came up. My dog is usually depressed and mopey after I get home, and he seemed just like his usual self - he felt very comfortable and safe with Cara. We will definitely be reaching out for future sittings!

Max was a wonderful pet sitter for my pup!! She didn’t even seem that excited that I was home after a week, which let me know she’d been happy and well cared for. Max also provided just the right level of contact - not too little, not too much - while I was away. Highly recommend!

Our babies were obviously very well cared for and the house was left super clean. Our animals were relaxing comfortably when we got home- literally zero signs of stress. Tori did a great job of keeping us updated every day which helped a lot with our peace of mind. She even brought our mail and packages in so they wouldn’t get rained on! Great experience, would absolutely recommend. It was easily one of our top Rover experiences since joining the app over 2 years ago.

About: I am a reliable and patient person I have a lifelong connection to dogs. I work full-time, Monday through Friday, with a flexible schedule, I'm just 5 minutes from home so I can take my lunch break to give your fur baby a potty break. Perfectly! I do work full - time, with a very flexible schedule I'm just 5 minutes from home so if I need to leave to take you fur baby out for a walk or potty break that will not be an issue. I have a fenced yard for your fur baby to run and play around in or I can easily crate your fur baby if needed.

Alicia truly is a Super Star Sitter. Right from my first contacts with her everything went so smoothly for me. She was a big help getting me started with using the app but by far her work as a sitter for my two dogs was phenomenal. Along with all the many small things that are so important with watching our dogs. I will be booking her again just as soon as I can. She is awesome. Thank you.

About: I have taken care of dogs and cats since I was 11! I would watch my neighbors cats and dogs when they were away. Additionally I have two years experience working at a DoggyDaycare and Aquatic Center! I am going into my first year of Law School so will have class during the week! However can definitely make time for morning or evening walks! Having worked at an official daycare for two years I understand the importance of keeping an eye on dogs to make sure no mischief occurs and that they are safe! They won’t go anywhere outside off leash and I can guarantee I won’t have anything not dog or cat friendly out in my apartment

It is clear Jenna loves dogs and took care of ours like they were her own! She also house-sat for us and left everything spotless. We came home to a vacuumed, clean house and couldn’t have been happier. We’re so grateful for the care she showed our pups and our home. We’ll definitely be booking with her again in the future! Highly recommend.

Natalee did a great job taking care of our senior dog and home. She arrived on time, provided lots of photos, video and feedback and left our home well taken care of. When our dog vomited in the yard (probably due to a round of antibiotics), Natalee got in touch right away to discuss and assess the situation which I really appreciated. We would definitely hire (we’ve already booked our next trip!) and recommend Natalee!

We were very upfront with Marsha that our rescue dog can be slightly aggressive and does not like strangers—we had almost given up on finding a sitter. Although Marsha never rushed the process, always listened to our concerns, and used techniques that helped our pup build trust slowly. She’s a great communicator with lots of messages, pictures and video. It was so nice to be away and not feel concerned. She’s a great sitter for anxious pups!

Mr. Man (my cat) was quite taken with Latasha. He enjoyed snuggling and hanging out with her, and I was very happy that at the end of our trip he was in good mental and physical health. I hired Latasha to day sit with Mr. Man as he recently got a bad cancer diagnosis, and I was afraid he might not be in good enough health for us to travel. I was especially thankful that he didn't lose weight, as anorexia is a side effect of his cancer.

Denita was the BEST dog sitter I've ever had! She cared for my dog so well, was communicative, and kept to her schedule (which has some flexibility, but I've had sitters in the past who have adjusted meals/being let out/etc by hours or been gone during important times, and it really throws a dog off). My puppy was very happy and content when I got home. I never had to worry that she wasn't being taken care of. She also left the house extremely clean.

Maya was amazing! This was my first time using Rover, and she was so friendly, helpful, and caring. She took such great and compassionate care of my baby Rex. I’ll definitely be using Maya as my pet sitter throughout my stay in Missouri. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and dependable to watch their fur baby! ❤️

Megan went above and beyond for my cats, including the street cats that I leave food out for. Since most of the them are very shy, I was afraid they wouldn't all come home for meals or want to be inside when it got too hot out. Megan put my mind at ease by consistently sending pictures and videos of everyone playing and/or eating. She kept me up to speed with how everyone was doing and genuinely seemed concerned with their wellbeing, which I greatly appreciated! Will definitely book again the next time I have to go out of town.

FAQs for House Sitting - University City

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in University City on Rover is $42.18 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 1,654 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across University City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred University City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in University City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in University City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in University City. On Rover:

  • 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
