“I can safely recommend Ann to look after your dog. Nothing was too much trouble for her, and she sent me photographs every day of how my dog was getting along. She is a lovely woman, and her love of dogs is evident.”

“My husky puppy was instantly at ease with Molly. She is a caring, professional, punctual and trustworthy pet sitter. My usually nervous husky was instantly at ease. Highly recommend.”

“Sophie was an absolutely wonderful person to look after our dog. Sophie kept us well updated and our dog seemed right at home in the photos we were sent. We can't thank or recommend her enough!”

“Veronika and her lovely family looked after Che as if she was their own well loved family pet. She had a very nice sleepover with lots of cuddles and walks. Veronika was very kind and sent pictures and updates. I especially liked the picture of Che making friends with a cat.”

“Cordelia was amazing as always, she’s our favourite sitter and Thor’s too! Such a lovely girl and you can see how much she cares for animals - she treats Thor as her own and he can’t wait to come back next week for another visit🥰”

“Doug had a wonderful time with Victoria and her family. She made him feel so at home and kept to his fussy diet and routine. I came home to a very happy pup! Thank you so much Victoria ☺️”

“We left our Caucasian Shepherd Cross rescue - Calli - with John and Teresa for a 24 hour period to see how she got on - prior to a couple of week long stints that we have booked with them in February and April. We had also been for a meet and greet prior to leaving her. It was clear from our first meeting that John and Teresa are lovely people who really care about dogs and also know how to look after them and make sure they are happy. We got a photo of Calli out on a walk in the country park that borders John and Teresa’s house. She was given 2 long walks during the day. On collecting Calli, I could see that she had bonded well and was very much at home - which was great to see and put our minds at rest about leaving her for longer periods. Knowing that Calli will be so well looked after is very important to us and John and Teresa are the perfect people to ensure that is the case. Thank you very much. See you in February.”

“I picked up our Boston Terrier, Edie, today after an overnight stay with Simon, and it was another very positive experience. Once again, I found him to be highly responsible, professional, and kind. He was eager to learn about Edie's habits, likes, and dislikes, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I provided a list of her commands, routine, and little quirks, but I felt that even if I had forgotten something, he would easily handle whatever came up. Simon was also incredibly helpful when I accidentally left a couple of Edie's things behind, generously offering some of his own for her to use. When I collected Edie, she was bright and happy, and they had just been outside playing in the garden together. Additionally, his house and neighbourhood are very safe environments. I didn't worry about her getting into trouble inside because his home is so organised and tidy. The neighbourhood has plenty of green space for walks and feels like a close-knit community. I have already booked Edie in for another overnight stay with Simon. I expect it will go just as well, and I know Edie will be happy to see him again!”

“Jakub and his family were amazing from start to finish. He kept me updated as to how Bella was getting on and sent photos of her (having a lot of fun!) She has returned to us happy and well cared for. We used to put her in kennels when we went away, but having met Jakub and his family and seen how well that looked after our pup, we will only use Jakub in the future.”

“Laura was absolutely amazing. She kept us updated on how Stan was throughout the weekend and sent us pictures. Stan settled in extremely well and looked extremely comfortable. All I can say is thankyou Laura and that I highly recommended anyone using your services.”

“Emma and her family are great. A really friendly and welcoming home. Winnie had a fantastic time. Definitely the doggy home we need when we go away. Your pooch is in safe hands here. Thank you guys.”

“Billie and her partner looked after my dog Doris for me for 10 days, they are a nice couple, their house was a perfect size for my dog. When I arrived to drop Doris off to my embarrassment within 10 minutes she was sick not once but twice on the living room floor, I couldn't believe it but both Billie and her partner were chilled about it, they understand Bulldogs which definitely helped. Throughout the time Billie texted me photos and messages about how my dog had settled in nicely and how Doris didn't like her partners guitar playing which I found hilarious and so did they (I think). My dog was in a happy mood when I picked her up I expected her to sulk but she didn't so she must have had the best time with Billie and her partner. Thank you both, I would recommend you if asked.”

“Chewie had a fantastic stay with Tyson and his humans again. Thank you so much to Meg and Chandra for all the photos and for making Chewie feel so at home. Hope he’ll be back for another holiday at your house soon.”

“Lexi loved her stay with Yvette. Lexi can be a little nervous but was comfortable straight away with Yvette and her 2 children because of the environment she created for her. Lexi can’t wait to stay again. Thank you for being so great with her!”

“I was struggling for dog care as my original dog care had cancelled on me last minute. I contacted jade and she was very quick and efficient on getting Rodney booked in and was happy to rearrange her days to accommodate Rodney for the 4 nights. I was anxious at first leaving Rodney with someone I hadn’t before but Jade was so good and reassuring right from the off and within 5 minutes of introducing Jade to Rodney I felt so reassured. She listened and made a list of everything me and Rodney do and his needs and wants. She sent me so many photos and videos every day and updated me even when I didn’t ask which was amazing so I could go away enjoy myself and knew Rodney was being well cared for. I collected Rodney and he didn’t want to leave when I came to collect him which is a reflection of the amazing care and fuss he had received. It was like Rodney was Jades own dog and she said how she loved having him. Going forward I will be definitely using Jades dog care service again and I’m sure Rodney will be excited at the thought of this as well. Keep up the good work jade from me and my Rods and thank you so much again ❤️!”

“Left our staffy with Linda for our wedding weekend, she sent regular photo update so we could see how Bailey settled, and how much she had walking around new places. Put my mind at ease totally, we will use Linda again when next needed”

“Liga has taken great care of my dog on his first overnight stay. I really appreciated the photos and videos she sent of him having a ball with his new buddies. He’s been treated as one of the family. Thank you Liga!”

“So glad I booked a day for Button with Linnet! She was so lovely greeting us at the door and sent photos and updates throughout the day! Couldn’t have asked for better! Fantastic lady and fantastic attitude and I would highly recommend Linnet and will definitely book in the future for other days/nights when needed - thank you!! 🩵”

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East Midlands may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
